  1. Cut the tax then people can afford their own ! ? Not really a game to judge though being serious. If a few flock back it'll be March onwards if there is a serious push for the play offs. Otherwise this season's turn outs are pretty much set as they are. The loss of 1 k + season ticket holders has had the biggest impact on that. That's were the questions should be being asked.
  2. We came, we saw but we couldn't conquer because we wanted to keep our powder dry ! Saving it for the next summer's big 'investment' young player who we can teach how to play football.
  3. Should be no tax on night games that really is ridiculous. Especially when you're playing a team like QPR who won't have many away fans turning up without tickets at the last min. Really is just fleecing your own hardcore fans who can only get down after work.
  4. For bad advice look no further than the BB signing to see it's still in evidence. Who pushed that God knows but it's still happening. Not sure even football clueless administrators would advise spending nearly 7 million in the hope of getting a bit more back.
  5. There you go again spinning it back to the fans your arrogance knows no bounds Spin more than the average hotpoint you matey, stop insulting people with your barbed jibes from your clueless mates 'inside' the club and for once tell us something true ?
  6. Venks 'would' spend whatever it took to get us up if they could' Wash your mouth out they wouldn't ever even spend on a top class manager never mind stave off relegation with some decent signings or give Paul Lambert at least the Rhodes money they'd promised him !! Or for that matter a decent wedge to Bowyer after he'd made them a fortune and steered us through FFP !!!! That statement has to be the biggest baloney on here in a long time. Even if they wanted to in years ago the money had to be used to pay off the complete mess they'd made and get rid of their 'like family' friends. Friends of those fiends who then delivered us Owen Coyle and still hang around to this day ! Some people will say anything to spin the truth there's a fine line between positive thinking and outright spin. Statements like that boil my blood it is exactly the tripe put about by Nixon and co last time we were about to go into embargo !
  7. Not when they got wind there was 5 million fee to come if they could get him to the door. %%%%%
  8. So did a few we've signed in the past !
  9. I think everyone should give him a months amnesty now and see how it goes because nothing is changing. I'm still in the want change in the summer camp but its up to him to prove me wrong which he has a great knack of doing. This month will shape things to come and whilst it appears he's tied his own hands somewhat in terms of money to spend we don't usually do much in Jan anyway. I think the funds they get have to last until the end of the season and cover everything so there's never much room. Blame is firmly shared for that. So a dry Feb from the constant on his back from me...or a least a good effort at it. Better managers than him have done a lot worse so it's sit back and see time. As a er, wise old woman from a far off land once said 'My father told me if you keep trying and end up getting more right than you get wrong you'll do ok'.... or something like that. That's the Rovers policy so we'd better roll with it for now ?
  10. I just think they have a method of filtering a few quid elsewhere whilst obviously propping up the club. Not saying it's dodgy i'm pretty sure now if anything was it would have flagged up. Just a huge business and owning the club has come in as a handy accounting tool, they can afford it it's their money pit but they really aren't going to keep pouring it down a black hole with no reason whatosever other than pride. There'll be something else in the mix somewhere never obvious to the naked eye. If it was just a case of we have to fund it or it'll go bust i think there'd have been continuing cuts to a far more sustainable model and we'd be in league 2 now. However i think pretty soon whether it's FFP or their bankers there'll have to be a big clawback again to balance the books i think it's inevitable. That's in the short term though but long term one of three things is likely to happen. A family fall out, death, illness or a harsh financial period = Bolton scenario. They'll plod on as it is and out of the blue will just get it all right and up we go, briefly. Settle for being forever where we are whilst they fund it, mostly ignore it and let others run it to their own tune.
  11. I'm never going to stick up for Steve Kean but my god it sounds obvious now that Singh did his fair share of damage to the books in his brief stint. Danny Fooking Murphy !!!
  12. I think there's often a mid season capital injection i'm sure we've got excited before. Think last time it was just before Coyle got potted - sorry left -. So here's hoping....
  13. Ending the last 12 months just like the previous apparently points wise, in solid shape in the league. Did nothing last season in Jan and almost paid the price. So for gods sake do something this time please it could make all the difference. Show some balls and ambition !
  14. Well an unchanged starting team that won previously wins again. Forget the 5 nil luxury game although a few more would be nice, it's performances like last night that get you up the league and keep you there. The blend was right and although the subs looked like it was upsetting it again they rode it out and settled down. In short, the Weds game everything fell for us and some bad luck evened itself but last night everything was right against a team who could easily undue you if not. Real signs things are finally gelling again......leave it alone Tony !
  15. Ouch, sorry Tony but the truth doth hurt as regards what's here. Nowhere there did I say why would he come to Blackburn Rovers but surely you have to give him something to work with. Also being such a fan of the present mob surely you'd want Benson coaching the kids. Something he's probably more on a level with.
  16. Why would he come here to coach a very average keeper who's only on loan and a lesser one whose only got 6 months left ???
  17. All depends how it works out obviously in terms of value for money with Tosin and co but to keep saying we can't afford a decent championship player is nonsense. When as i've pointed out you combine what has been spent on some of them for the whole packages. Yes we couldn't afford 2 or 3 at once but add a decent one every summer and you might start to go somewhere and they'll be your player and your asset. Add 2 or 3 Johnsons, Downing or even a loan like Tosin you are just basically filling gaps hoping they all click and take you somewhere. Some of them also end up blocking the way or your own. I have to say i was reasonably pleased with Mowbrays summer signings though to be fair but not by the way he's used most of them but that's an old argument. I do wonder how using that money a good defender and good keeper instead would have panned out. Then you have the building blocks in place to add others instead of gap plugging approach all over the squad we might be facing. Start at the back and invest in quality not quantity.
  18. Some are and some are not again we are back to how the hell do other clubs manage and you have kind of missed the point again. Most clubs in this league have youngsters of varying ability they'll be looking to try. Combine the whole package of signing say Downing & Johnson or Tosin and Gallager. That's a lot of money spent for so called not being able to buy some more established championship player.
  19. They'v done well so far but are opposite ends of the spectrum and will have cost c 1 possibly 2 million for one season all things considered. If we end up in the play offs you can say incredible success but as of now they've only actually done what was hoped of them. That's good but will likely be gone again in summer. Maybe we'll squeeze another year out of Downing but there's still risk at his age so it'd need careful consideration given the wages. I think the point a few are trying to hammer home is this can't be put down the building for the future. It's merely plugging gaps and maybe that money could've been used for a decent permanent transfer. Example, a large contribution to 1 Bauer type contract for a few years for the price of these 2 stop gaps.
  20. He needs game is what most believe is his best position, centre forward but so does Gallagher. He's not even had a run of games where Mowbray seems to see him, right sided.....because he signed Gallagher.
  21. Spot on. His main preference is squad type players and then as the squad gets bigger he seems to feel he has to rotate or make 3/4 changes per game. All that was going on often before the injuries deepened. On the back of that you get multiple system changes etc and all that added together hinders the development and gelling of a best first 11 that can achieve some consistence on the pitch.
  22. And the debates will be just the same come next Jan. Common denominator is in Pune but also has a middleman over here.
  23. If it's true they thought Brereton and Gallagher would be banging them in on Rhodes, Rudy levels by now so that's why they shelled out i absolutely despair of the judgement of the management and coaches. To me it just sounds like backside covering hogwash directing the blame back at the players but who'd be surprised if it wasn't.
  24. We 'sometimes' play that way but often do not. Still i couldn't see Rhodes fitting any of the systems we've seen this season.
  25. This is the thing for me just how serious are they ? Not very i don't think it strikes me as those owning it want as little hassle as possible from it. However they are happy to use it as an accounting tool to offset money from elsewhere because they can comfortably afford to at this level. Then it's just there to pick up and play with every time they have a bit of interest or spare time then like a cat they get bored with it again and ignore for a while. Having people run it here who'll dance to their and their friends and advisors tune and they'll be happy to let it bob along. Just check on it every 6 months in a board meeting. Sadly non of these seem to take place before the Jan window so those in Blackburn are just dealing with whatever loose change they have left in the budget whilst trying to make it last for everything else till summer. Whatever happens at top level tends to rub off down through a club as we've seen. When nothing happens but money is comfortably there to just plod on that's exactly what will happen. Lack of drive and genuine ambition means water treading.
