  1. I think it is because he is a very basic manager but tries to be something he isn't so he does try and sign some good footballers but hasn't the first clue what to do with them. The result is shoehorning and square pegs in round holes when if he operated to what he really knows we'd have a Mick McCarthy at Ipswich scenario i think but he doesn't want to be seen that way and the players he recruits can't play that way, pragmatic. He's shying away from his true self he's probably better suited to struggling clubs with not many playing options so he has to keep it basic. Too many options here and license to bring players in means he's caught between a rock and a hard place in how to go about it all the time.
  2. You'll notice then when someone starts getting a panning on here they suddenly get featured on the club twitter or the LT portraying them as the nice trying hard guys they are supposed to be. No surprise the manager saying his bit but i expect in the next few weeks another damage limitation PR exercise to start via the usual channels.
  3. As above the only way to drive it up dramatically now is Promotion or Bradford / Huddersfield type cheap as chips STs even if that only lasted a season or two. Get them back in and then try and keep hold of them and if we are gearing up to be a middle of the road Championship club just looking to stay safe, sell the odd big money player whilst holding on to outside hope of the odd random good season and stab at the play offs then it is the only way to go imo. Even on cheap STs without the Prem we aren't talking 20k crowds but surely getting the averages up beyond 15/16k should be the first aim so at the min selling 12 thousand season tickets would be a good achievement. Lets get back to trying to be the biggest non big city local club again instead of falling away behind the likes of Preston. Our infrastructure, budget, salaries, setup etc etc are way beyond theirs so to be behind the likes of the every season isn't acceptable. Odd seasons yes fair enough but.... If they don't do anything on the pitch they have to work harder and get radical off it otherwise you really are looking at 8/9k home turnouts regularly again when finances begin to bite and people decide that football now falls way down their priority list. The football, management side of it and comfort zone of some on and off the park needs looking at first as well though as that's where it all begins and ends after all.
  4. Hmm it does seem a bit over the top when you put it like that it he's probably managed to alienate a thousand or so fans from both sides for this one. Rovers fill up the seats policy this season !
  5. I don't it's about time there was some tit for tat on this them and Leeds have been fleecing / pricing visiting fans for years.
  6. Decent age for an experienced manager i'd have thought, should have learned enough by now but still should have some fire in the belly. How long does it take to recognise successful teams always stem from the back ?
  7. Then they go and do that and something makes sense at last, good effort credit where it's due.
  8. Don't think there is much arse kicking goes on these days anywhere let alone Rovers. Could you ever see Mowbray or David Lowe for example being prepared to grab someone by the throat if they mouthed off at them in the dressing room ? More like a polite stern ticking off then it's forgotten about of they just sulk at each other and don't speak. Same ones know they'll get picked next week regardless and know they'll get their thousands regardless there is no fear factor when you're turning in shockers then getting a week off !
  9. Bolton used to pull as similar trick v Rovers in the days of Gartside, too much thinking involved for the part time suits at Ewood with that one.
  10. If the first pub they come across is Clitheroe Kates i think they can be forgiven for jumping in a taxi straight to the ground ?
  11. Some good reading on that Hudds forum they seem a decent bunch non of the usual codswallop. It's odd to read that some frequent visitors have never noticed the river that runs right next to the ground though. Would probably amaze them to know there is actually a river runs through Blackburn as well, well the bits that haven't been covered over of course. River Blakewater = Blake Burn = Blackburn for those yorkies looking in. They have the town centres lack of drinking establishments down to a T though.
  12. Ha ha not the first time in fact a few years ago i think some wanted to beat me up for some reason !!! ?
  13. I'm thinking more about whoever told him, allegedly.
  14. Somebody leaks out a shocker of a name then some think hell better off sticking with what we have. Oldest trick the book.
  15. Maybe the train of thought behind it - if there is one - is simply that good forwards all carry a heavy premium compared to other areas of the park so when a lump of money is made available that needs spending quick before it get soaked up elsewhere they take the opportunity to get in forwards. In their minds they've make do and mend options in defence and think they can keep putting short term sticking plasters on it. That's including the critera that might be set of young, British, potential and of course before you chuck in the 'known to the club' and friendly agents and nice drinks all round motivations of course....... Either way terrible judgement is on show again totally wrong way to build a really good team, also beginning to whiff a bit if i'm honest.
  16. He'll be after a new contract now to keep her in the life she's becoming accustomed to. Might get some sustained graft out of him now.
  17. Going off the usual i'd expect about 6 points from the next 5 - before the injuries... However we could be in a tricky situation now so 6 might be a bonus although i've a strange feeling by default TMs hand might be forced in regards to some players and the formation. When this has happened in the past its sometimes had a positive effect so here's hoping he can pull it out the fire again and prevent a crisis. Aside from defence there is surely enough in this squad to come up with something resembling a team. Time for a joker to be played in the form of Chapman maybe ? No doubt we'll be stuck with Samuel and his non contributions again though !
  18. Early kick off, tv, shit home crowd and even worse atmosphere apart from the visitors who always give their side good backing. The mood around Ewood is low, we always look even slower after Int breaks but no wonder if players insta and twitter feeds are anything to go by, it's very much down the tools for a bit whilst there's a chance. Hudds to dominate first half, Rovers the second, probably going all out to get back into it ! 2 - 2
  19. Well Midtable Mogga arrived allegedly via similar channels and continues to sign players via similar channels so i really wouldn't count it out.
  20. Which is the same as when Coyle was here, a complete no mark manager who rarely got a mention then all of a sudden when they got wind he was hovering over the trap door he was almost headline news on there ! Funnily enough when Bowyer was the victim of fake news there was never the groundwell of support for him on that channel, strange that eh....
  21. Build the side around the likes of Holtby, Travis etc instead of using them as bit part. Johnson also has the good attributes we need but i fear he's this seasons problem child signed we seem to sign one every season. Dack will never prosper to his full potential without hardline management he knows he's the best player at the club and knows he'll usually be a shoe in to start whatever his form or fitness.
  22. Difference being .... TM at Coventry ---- ' Mowbray did a good job in trying circumstances initially but the problems at the club meant it was impossible to keep up so he's done the honourable thing' At Boro ---- 'Tony came in and got the club stable then moving in the right direction but unfortunately it seems he's taken them as far as he could with what's at his disposal at the min. Boro need a big name or something different it's a massive club' At Rovers it will be ----- ' Mowbrays done a brilliant job there but the ungrateful Blackburn boo boys and the odd owners have forced him out when he has that club stable where they should be in midtable championship playing some good football whilst bringing through a host of young talent. They've ideas above their station, Tony deserves better, look what they did to Owen and wee Stevie' Courtesy of our friends at SKY and his friends in the media.... If the worms turn get ready to be smeared again.
  23. Nice lads, nicey nicey modern day players prefer the uncle types of boss good old Souey and Roy would have them running to their union reps on a weekly basis. 'Hey this b#strd made us train outside twice this week, have you seen the weather !!!!' That's what you are up against these days bog standard championship players treated and paid better than stars of the recent past.
  24. It's very worrying especially when you read around Coventry, Boro stuff as well there is a definite recurring pattern but that's obviously the way he is. He either just cannot see the error of his ways or is just too stubborn or terrified to change. Good man manager because he's the players man nice guy act and he'll be very experienced with stuff off the pitch and the inner workings of clubs and i think Rovers have definitely benefited from that in his time here but on the park it is stuck between bang average and poor. League 1 he did well getting us back first time of asking as it could so easily have gone the other way with the rot that was still being eradicated but with the capabilities we had we could have walked that league. Not saying we should have but we could have however the approach to it wasn't bold enough half the time but the strength of the squad and some of the quality in it saw us through. This season though you feel there is something missing although i'm not of the opinion the players haven't got his back i more think they actually follow his tactics to the letter and that's the problem.
  25. Just the same under Bowyer every Int break photos of players jetting off all over the place or on the lash. It really is treated as a sort quarter season holiday more than anything else i think. Not much resting gets done though it doesn't seem.
