In local derbies the form book often goes out the window the desire of who wants it more for their fans and club is a great leveller. So players , manager and yes FANS step up to the plate let this be a pivotal point in the season please.

This is where i'm at as i think a large part of why TM has done well here behind the scenes is down to his experience he was the right type at the right time for once in regards to that if nothing else. On the pitch and in his transfer dealings he's pretty much what i expected him to be and his systems etc have just followed what he's done at other clubs playing wise. For this reason i think the next change has to be done properly even if it takes a while although another losing streak like last season is totally unacceptable obviously. I think the weight of clout he might carry behind the scenes means it would be better to keep him around in another role a while if he was interested in that. I'd keep him away from the chequebook though for sure ! He did give the club back its identity even if the team hasn't really got one other than being 'flexible'.

That probably explains why we are such a static team the midfield but we've mostly operated with two defensive mids here since we landed in the Championship from the Prem. Its got us precisely nowhere. Why do we have to do what other teams do why can't we do what we do and let them bother about us ?

Some interesting stuff there even if it looks like his brother has written it ? Seriously though it would be brilliant if he climbed all the way to the top to manage the first team and i agree a fresh approach would be welcomed. I hope though it's done the right way with him taking over in summer with a full pre season and budget in place to work from as well as being able to get rid of the deadwood himself and not having someone else doff out new contracts to them to look after their mates. Removing TM now might see another guy off the scrapheap and another dinosour approach that will see Johnson sidelined or leave yet if he took over now it would probably be too early. A summer of radical change is the best way to go imo even if they move Mowbray upstairs for a bit to keep a steady eye on things. However Johnson will only be as good as the people he surrounds himself with so a good first team coach and a few good defenders must top the list otherwise he'd be on a hiding to nothing, touchscreens or no touchscreens. Basically the same things Mowbray is lacking at present !

A positive set up and performance is paramount a bad result might be forgiven if it isn't the usual surrender monkey crap that keeps haunting this team. No need for it with what's at the disposal now and in particular midfield were Preston seem tigerish yet depending on the ridiculous rotation selection we often appear tame. Fight fire with fire not a feather duster.

Step down, probably less wages and no way shape or form as cushty as what they've created here at the min = not happening.

And they started it all by slashing prices across the board although i don't know what they charge now but it worked initially. Average sized northern working class town, small but solid hardcore with thousands more in the woodwork because of many lean years, ring any bells ? An ambitious thinking out the box managerial recruitment with a nice brand of football helped and vice versa i'd wager with big crowds helping drive them to the Prem.

Who wouldn't be surprised to see the likes of Bolton and Sunderland get their acts together and bypass Rovers in the next 5 years whilst we sit in the middle of the division muddling along whilst burning tens of millions more VH group spare change ? Might seem unlikely but i for one wouldn't be surprised. The formula for championship success that some other clubs click into place always seems missing here in the V era despite who's boss or what he has at his disposal.

Rovers new style of play and how we play it
tomphil replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I'd think it rather points to our lack of ambition in the first half of games. Let me explain something to you stats often cast a distorted view of what actually went on and if you have 25 shots it doesn't mean you played well. Case in point being Saturday where the only urgency in the game came when QPR were home and dry. A similar effort in the first half might not have seen us 2 nil down mins into the start of the second. Lack of shots in the first half of games might have something to do with style of play in that particular half after all. -

Shots ON target ? Shots on target in the first half of games ? I wonder if that paints a different picture. -
Adversity is bringing them a togetherness its always been a bit of a different scenario there than here they've been shafted by a sequence of events that can happen to any club these days but more of a natural decent as previous decent owner runs out of money and downfall begins right there. Here we had it taken away by a bunch of crooks and clowns overnight and i doubt there is a club who's fans have had their faces rubbed in it like here for a good number of years. Damage and suspicion is lasting and always just under the surface but there was a bit of a coming together again in league 1 it almost resembled Mackays days again for those who remember. Sadly the club didn't pipe into it and it seems to have slid away again, a one season wonder. Attitude seems to be right we've done the hard work to right the relegation so lets just get back to plodding as before. We were a midtable steady Prem club when this lot appeared and that is the wrong that needs to be righted. Not easy obviously and not all about money but to me they've never ever shown any real desire to do it aside from the first season down out the Prem when they inexplicably and inexcusably let the same snakes who'd took us down blow 50 milliion parachute money plus the rest. Something is missing here and to me it is still that void between Blackburn and India, until that changes nothing ever will. Monthly transfers of money to keep solvent plug the gap and it's a good job it does but it's not enough really. This end is grateful and that end thinks this end should be as it's doing its bit. Where's the human angle ?

It's not ALL about being in the Premier league you know.

Sent on holiday i'd imagine although probably totally powerless to stop it anyway.

I was going to mention before we seem to be in the phase with TM now Preston were with Grayson a few years ago. It you really want to aim for promotion you've got to source and recruit a manager with that kind of drive otherwise if you want to stay safe and have an outside shot of a once in a decade good season you stay with the Mowbrays. Graysons etc etc The ones running, owning, stakeholding in Rovers and their advisers aren't capable of that because it might involve actually poaching a good manger from somewhere and paying a bit of compen. Also those on the ground here running it wouldn't want that they've got a cushty little number going being an average championship club with minimal risk.

I'm sure a few cameo appearances wouldn't do him any harm. As for Samuel i have no words but i predicted it it's textbook Mowbray, just watch one good performance or a goal and there'll be a new contract in front of him. -

The only thing a note to Evans should say is 'your time is up please speak to your agent'. All the options they have now and still this useless passenger 3 feet backwards passing expert is chucked back in whenever there is opportunity. If you want going nowhere football Evans is your man. Early booking didn't help him on this occasion but there was no danger he'd pick up another ! -

I think the plan with Chapman was probably to build him up as much as possible in the U 23's first then ease him in mid season or something. However then you look at Samuel and as predicted on here the min he's fit he's back in the squad and getting chucked on again. He obviously gets a tick in the favs column. -
All that has been done imo because they just didn't want to invest in and revamp the defence properly so it's a case of try and tighten up in front and keep the ball more. Crazy when you have the forward options we have as only one can feed off scraps and he's old and only only one is capable of converting the odd good chances that might pop up in a game and it just happens to be the same old one. Any manager worth his salt would've rebuilt that defence properly starting ages ago......and loaned in a good striker instead of spewing money on long shot 'investments'.

It's all about mood with Venkys i think and how much attention or interest they are paying to it at a particular time alongside which one of them is looking in and who has their ear. Whilst they are occupied with other things i don't think they give much of a stuff what's going on here so if there was an inkling he was going to jack in i wouldn't be surprised if they chucked a new deal at him. Whilst everything is rolling along stable i don't see them wanting any hassle so better the devil you know. Other side of the coin is they could wake up one morning and decide to follow things closely for a few weeks not like what they see and hear and just pot him out the blue. The one thing they won't do is follow things properly, get a feel for where or where not we might be going and make some sensible plans to shake things up. If the club isn't doing well when they do one of their 6 monthly reviews it might get the attention but anything between that and late summer it'll be ignored i'd wager.

I see no reason why all the ones not on international duty aren't in training as normal at any club but especially here where work obviously needs doing. The guys on duty will be travelling and training as well as playing so the rest of the squad should be concentrating on club business, defenders on one on one defensive drills and strikers doing the same if they can't all do the usual group stuff. Fair enough an extra day off but time to go on the piss and jetting about on mini breaks needs ironing out unless it's a reward laid out by the manager for reaching a set target before hand.
-
As always the way to do it is some good incentives when they are put on sale, above and beyond the usual givens of it being cheaper game by game and taking the hassle away. An awful lot these days will miss a number of games for various factors and yes lack of interesting opposition being one of them on a freezing autumn/winter afternoon or midweek when you are slogging along midtable and the football is pedestrian. So people not bothering is understandable but with a bit of an extra nudge a lot of those wavering might take up something with a bit extra incentive. What that would be is open to debate but i'd bung in cup tie vouchers or something like that.

We struggle for centre defenders with strength and first to the ball heading ability as well. Funny how other clubs manage to recruit some of these types back and front but in years and with millions in fees and thousands per week on wages BRFC can't.

There's more talent in that one picture of those rwo than the entire championship of now !
