  1. What a farce of a game. But on one hand I'm glad the game is over now, so I can go to bed. I don't think I could take another half an hour of this...
  2. We're only doing so well in the league because of our stable backline. Pears, Dolan, Johnson, Edun - all not really good enough. Van Hecke isn't good enough to be on the ball, has to play in the center. Ayala the only one with any shred of dignity right now.
  3. If anything, this game is showing that we have a serious lack of depth in the squad. Dolan can't play RB, Johnson and Van Hecke can't play the ball-playing defender role, Pears can't keep.
  4. Not sure how it's still 0-0, we are dominant here but can't score.
  5. Wow - had no idea Channel 10 was streaming FA cup games now. That's new! Thanks a lot for the tip - already got an account anyway so all good.
  6. Will this be showing on the Rovers site for international viewers?
  7. It will be interesting to see how Mowbray starts responding when things stop going our way. In a way we've been quite fortunate that the current setup is working and there hasn't been any reason to tweak things. However, as we saw against Huddersfield... some teams are very hard to breakdown.
  8. I think Bucko came in for some criticism last year because he was quite light weight and got brushed off the ball too easily. That criticism was absolutely fair IMO, but this season it was noticeable that he had bulked up quite a bit and the biggest improvement in his game has been the crunching tackles he's been putting in. His bravery, strength and defensive play has all improved substantially this season and that is allowing his talent to flourish. I don't think there was any doubt of his technical ability and creativity, but you can't create much if the opposition is shoving you to the ground as soon as you get the ball. So he deserves massive credit for addressing those weak points to become a key player for us now. Hopefully he keeps going from strength to strength!
  9. We should be 4 or 5 goals up by now but instead find ourselves drawing. Annoying that our clean sheet streak has been broken.
  10. Do you actually think that’s the argument I’m making? I’m saying a lot of people had written off BBD as well and wanted him moved on because some of his performances prior to this season were abysmal. Now questions are being asked why his contract wasn’t extended earlier. Why does it need to be an either or situation? No one has said that if we extend Gally’s contract that we can’t extend everyone else’s.
  11. Sheff Utd have scored 3 minutes in. This league is about to get very very interesting! Our next 3 win games are winnable… we could find ourselves top of the league by the start of 2022.
  12. I’m sure similar things were said about BBD before he went to Chile. Gallagher has been one of our biggest goal contributors this season and has all the qualities to be a top player for us.
  13. For me, Lenihan would be the biggest loss for us. He's been absolutely immense the last few weeks and generally we play better when he's in the team. We've lost a lot of experienced players over the summer, and we are really lacking leaders in the squad. We can't afford to lose our captain. I love Nyambe, but I think he is replaceable. There are good quality players out there for the full-back/wing-back spots, as we've seen with Pickering and Edun. Nyambe is not a major contributor of goals for us. Brereton surely won't leave in January, but end of the season if we get offered crazy money for him it's going to be hard to say no. Rothwell we also absolutely have to keep. He's got mistakes in him, but much like Josh King before him, he is capable of putting defences to the sword and you can't easily find that quality anywhere else.
  14. I think we were shambolic defensively when Braithwaite came into the back four and agree we were absolutely dreadful during that period. We started picking up steam again after that though with Dack returning and scoring 2 in 2 before being injured again. We deteriorated again after that injury and didn't recover until it was too late. I remember thinking that 1-0 loss at Brentford was the end of our season. Their only goal was from a non-penalty and then we weren't given a penalty of our own late on when Raya fouled Dack in the box. A lot of the games post-Braithwaite we were the better team but lost points due to stupid penalties or back passes given away.
  15. We've got a pretty tough run of games in February. If we manage to come out at the end of Feb with at least 60 points then I think we should be able to go the distance.
  16. Might be controversial, but I don't think the team was playing that badly last season either. There was a sense of inevitability about every game last season where if something could go wrong it would. The number of long-term injuries we got to key players throughout the season was enough to kill squad morale, but we also had a crazy number of poor referee decisions go against us and we got punished almost immediately for every individual mistake. This season it's not been like that at all. We've managed to retain a healthy, stable squad - Poveda aside, we haven't had any significant injuries in the squad. Against Birmingham yesterday, even though we were really comfortable there were some worrying moments like Rothwell's misplaced pass and the shot that hit the crossbar. Last season, 100% one of those would have resulted in a goal, but this season has been completely different. That said, the team has definitely stepped it up a level. Almost every player has improved in quality and confidence. The team have matured significantly and things have started to gel. It's just a pleasure watching them week in, week out. I don't think Mowbray is much of a tactician, but he seems like a great man manager and he's kept the team happy and motivated. That makes a massive difference in this league and I still think he can get us promoted. However, I'm not convinced that he can keep us in the PL if we get there. A team needs more than just good vibes in the PL and ultimately you either need top quality players or a more pragmatic manager to survive long term.
  17. I'm really keen to fly up to England in May in the hope that we do end up in the playoffs or automatic promotion places by the end of the season. After 16+ years of supporting the club I've still not been to Ewood and think now may be the perfect time to go. With the latest increased cases of Omicron though, I have no idea if it will still be possible, but really hoping it will be oaky. Would really appreciate any suggestions people would have about coming to Blackburn. I'm not sure how to plan for the trip tbh given how unpredictable it's going to be where we end up at the end of the season. 30th April for the game against Bournemouth - which may end up being the decider for automatic promotion? Mid-to-late May for the semi-final/final games - if we end up in the playoff spots (which seems more likely) Of course, we may just end up dropping off completely in which case I would be there for a dead rubber game!
  18. What a team. Absolutely outstanding! This feels so different to previous seasons. It feels almost inevitable that we'll score now. Another win and clean sheet here would be ridiculous.
  19. Performance has deteriorated rapidly since the goal. Players need to wake up and the crowd seems a bit pathetic tbh - we're sitting in 3rd as it stands, 1 point off the automatic spots at the halfway point of the season, and the crowd feels pretty dead.
  20. GET IN!! Brilliant assist from Nyambe. Birmingham look very vulnerable here and we look well up for it.
  21. I'm really tired and wasn't planning to stay up for this one, but the only game I missed watching this season was the Fulham game, so not taking any chances. Hope the boys don't disappoint!
