  1. Shades of the Dublin fiasco here where Villa used us as a Stalking Horse to trigger the 5m Coventry clause............when Hodgson eventually had to settle for Nathan Blake. Must say I hate this breaking of recently signed long term contracts by mard-arse footballers and their slavering agents. Why do they simply not act with any honour? Keane started it with the odious character trait of backsliding on his own handshake.
  2. Now call me an old cynic if you like but just rem that I've lived a little longer than most on here. Anyway I read those links with a wry smile on my face! Obviously nothing to do with the Asian tragedy but I had already guessed that the sicko would blame his criminal cruelty on losing some ageing relative or other! Its always one of three nowadays 1. Some relative dying. (Like that doesn't happen to everybody)? 2. Drinking heavily / drug abuse. 3. Being abused as a child Well so what? Maybe if he actually worked rather than qualifying as a 'carer' he would not find the time to make such mischief. Hanging him by his thumbs for a day or two may just make him rem the error of his ways next time he tries to operate a keyboard eh?
  3. Yeah but disaster or no disaster who cares? Cos nobody'll give smack away for nowt will they?
  4. Kinell! They must still be really seething about paying so much for Martin Taylor! That'll teach em.......they should have read this board first.
  5. Thats a bit unfair. The weather and wind took a turn for the worse at ht and Rovers played the entire second half kicking into the teeth of a gale. Not easy at the best of times and still only Emertons schoolboy aberration prevented us from getting a derved point. Not sure who won the toss but if we had kicked the other way from the start we may well have had all 3 points.
  6. EVERY Prem quality keeper should stop a 35 yard shot from a free kick! My only question is why bother with a wall from that distance? All the wall did was block Friedals view of the ball for the first few crucial split seconds.
  7. Fergy and his poodle media would have seen to it Rennie would be on the rock and role by now if it had happened at Old Trafford.
  8. But with Dickov's 100% rcord from the spot for us surely we dont need anyone for penalties Chris. Do we?
  9. A temp solution that would reap dividends is Hartson although obviously he is no longer the type of striker to interest top Prem clubs. No pun intended but without Bothroyd and no disrespect at all to Dickov but we are too lightweight up front. The ball is moved forward but comes straight back. Hartson would hold the ball up, dominate centre halves to create space for the other strikers and bring a proper strikers instinct with him. Something sadly lacking in all others but Dickov. Our need up front is far greater than our need for adding another midfielder ie Robbie Savage........ that is unless Fergy is away this month. City are borassic and Macken might be available although he is more of a Dickov and not a 'proper' centre forward.
  10. If they want to go to Europe they had better phone up MyTravel! I know the wind spoiled the game but they were poor and we were worse. Matteo is no left back and it clearly showed, central midfield had huge inexcusable gaps in it and if Bothroyd is out for any length of time then we need a striker asap. Relying on Stead / Gally will see us down. I trust the Ref see sense and not send Dickov's yellow card in. Oh and if I was Mark Hughes I would do a Cloughie and simply not allow Emerton onto the coach for the journey home! His rank dereliction of duty at that corner was inexcusable and has cost his teammates big time. Dont care how he'd get home but it wouldn't be with the rest!
  11. And the Germans? Well if your so concerned. Germany has announced they are to provide 27 million dollar It's not about who gave what, or how much, it's about pulling together for a common cause. Well maybe not but I cannot help notice that although we are the worlds 5th largest economy we are donating more than the combined total of any 2 countries above us in that ranking if that list is accurate. I wonder who actually decides.
  12. And the Germans?
  13. damn......too late
  14. No Paul you ARE being idealistic. Our trade with the developing world IS the route to eradicating poverty etc. If we do not trade they will have nowt! They must be able to earn dollars / euro's / pounds etc in order to progress. Maybe the distribution of that wealth is a little unequal in your eyes but tell me which Utopian country in the world that you are aware of where wealth is distributed equally.
  15. Hardly the time or place for such a feeble attempt at humour. And I am sure.
  16. Very eloquently put mhead.......... and without recourse to infantile shouting as well.
  17. It's an appalling and probably unparrallelled human tragedy right enough Flopsy, but it will not be helped by you coming over all emotional and not adhering to the posting guidelines which it is your task to uphold. Also you appear to be confusing the word 'edited' with 'censored'. Please try to remain rational.
  18. Think it through Jim. If Hughes is selected to be next MU manager it will be because he has done a siht-hot succesful job at BRFC. Something to be much sought after rather than dismissed out of hand?
  19. Oh good, thats alright. Those lost season ticket sales had absolutely nothing to do with the (unavoidable) sale of our own academy produced, true God given talent, crowd favourite, World Cup 'select XI' star, modest and unassuming blond destroyer and wing wizard, Damien Duff then? Duff left while the rest of the players were on pre-season in the good ol' USA. ST sales were pretty much over by then. So, no it was nothing to do with that. It was the awful home form. poodly tip:) Its got to have had an influence it had all the hallmarks of the 'last minute when all the ST's have been sold' Shearer episode. Star player in a major international tournament comes home the darling of the press and TV and is touted in every media outlet to be a target for MU, Lpool, Chelsea etc, all accompanied by endless insincere denials from Duffer and the club. Come on Den.
  20. Everton?

  22. Well I'd call it a firkin big national debt! And it is! Just as an aside Philip have you got any figures to show how much aid the affected Asian countries sent to the US after 9/11 or indeed after the Mt St Helens eruption? Maybe that would introduce some perspective to your argument.
  23. I suspect that a few opposing centre halves and their managers would disagree with you there Jim. Mark Lawrenson and Alan Hansen (two of the best centree halves that I have ever seen play in the same team) always say that the best defender in the all conqering Liverpool team of the late 70's early 80's was Ian Rush! As centre forward he harried and chased opposing defenders relentlessly when they had the ball, simply to stop play being built up from the back and forcing them to aimlessly boot the ball up field or out of play. Dickov is very similar and it is a hugely influential part of his game for which he receives little credit......apart no doubt from his manager and teammates. Course I suppose he could always pick up a small fortune every week by refusing to ever run wide and by patrolling no more than a 10 yard circle in the middle of the pitch all the while scowling sullenly with his hands on his hips whilst admonishing his team mates for not putting the ball on a tee for him.
  24. Hang on a bit MCM1875. Surely the gain is to sell Ferguson in order to procure the services of Savage, Gabbidon and Hartson.
  25. more chicken and egg......... if the board dont keep selling there can be no buying. Simple as that. I think few will argue that we desperately need fresh faces in certain positions and that Hughes deserves a chance to bring his own players in. I dont particularly want to see one of our stronger players go but look at it from a different perspective..... lots of teams are above us, on merit and without Barry Ferguson. Forget what we paid for him (to keep Rangers heads above water) imo in todays market he is a no more than a 3 million pound man.
