  1. Simple. Its cos Hughes is soooo keen to sign him. Savage is not a brilliant player, he's not quick, doesn't arrive in the box and score goals, he's not a midfield playmaker and has no special abilities other than his work rate and hugely inspirational qualities. On the other hand Fergy's performances are proving that he was significantly overvalued, his wages are probably eating away too much of Hughes budget and has been consistently linked with moves to other clubs. Well looks like the master plan is halfway to completion. Dunno why Williams didn't simply hire me when Souey departed. Yes I do ................ Sparky must have been a lot cheaper.
  2. but we are still shelling out 3 mill for a new player no matter how long their contract is! Savage will prove to be a valuable player for us. Graveson would undoubtedly have been better, but I shudder to think of the wages he will be on at Real.... out of our league there I think.
  3. It should be better by summer though. I'd ship Fergy out if we could get him in no prob. Trouble is he will prob want to stay darn sarf.
  4. Unfortunately Indonesia appears to be validating many peoples scepticism about donating vast sums of money to the Tsunami appeal.
  5. He didn't waste it he used it to placate the Rangers bank manger! Anyway Fergy can go if its up to me (cos he is simply an average midfielder who is neat and tidy but doesn't pose much threat in attack and often gets stranded and on the wrong side of the opposition in midfield) but only for a fee similar to the amount we gave for him and only in summer. But we choose when to sell him not others. Dunno why people on here rate him all that highly cos I've never heard any media / press commentators rave about him even once! Please tell me if you have, but for someone of supposedly high profile......viewed as similar in prestige to Gerrard / Vierra / Savage / Carrick / Keane / Lampard / Graveson / Okocha / Hendry / Parker (he do us as a replacement btw) / Cole etc etc he is virtually anonymous in nearly all match reports......... cept when he cracked his knee of course.
  6. Dunno bout being one but I wouldn't mind possessing one!
  7. Not quite all waggy. However I do agree to an extent with the overseas funding bit by some of our worldwide freeloaders. Prescriptions and medicines aren't free are they so shouldn't cures for homesickness be at a price too.
  8. Right. Am I right to assume that by saying that you think that it must 'feel' worse being black than being a midget DE4life?
  9. 'Tapped up' is an odd description. Surely any club would look pretty damned stupid if they registered bids for players that they had not contacted either officially or unofficially or through a third party to find out if those players were actually interested or not in being transferred in the first instance. If savages parents lived in Walsall and/or we were offering less money it would be pointless even thinking about signing him. Saying all that I still dont like the way that footballing contracts are all one way to the benefit of the mard-arse, totally detached from reality, namby pamby players. Savage should have to buy his way out / forfeit something like in any normal business situation.
  10. They were banging on about attendances on Talksport earlier and one solution and selling point combined is something that we did a few years ago and something that Spurs do now. To include 2/3 free cup games in the season ticket package. We'd have lost out last season mind but it might persuade a few more waverers to purchase full season tickets.
  11. You have got to be kidding right? Either that or you have completely justified my earlier point about small town mentalities.
  12. My bum-on-my-seat for a kick-off (I attended the Bournemouth game because I thought a tenner was reasonable) It isn't about small town mentalities and it isn't just Rovers fans who are saying no to expensive football matches. The fact is that football fans in general have had enough of being ripped off - I know I have. I have missed very few games at Ewood by choice but I will choose to miss this one. Suit yourself. btw One thing that is an absolute must is that the Rovers play their strongest team. The £10 days of watching our reserves playing in Europe I hope disappeared with the last management team. Charging full price to watch 2nd raters really would be outrageous.
  13. Simple really. 'Small man big desk' scenario.
  14. I can't be arsed checking but how many of the peope whinging on here have also contributed to the 'transfer' thread with their wish list of transfer targets? Well just where do you think it comes from guys? Sometimes I'm embarrassed to be a Rovers supporter! Small town mentalities and petty attitudes were plentiful in the 60's just before we spent 30 years down among the dead men. (and where we would without question still be but for Jack Walker!) So all you lot with 3rd Div mentalities who think that everybody owes em a living should be ashamed of yourselves..........If you want to watch Prem league quality football at Blackburn then you must pay for Premier League quality players, and they aren't cheap. So its as simple as that! Use it or lose it! The future of BRFC is in your hands....... or more accurately in your wallets! Anyway every time games have been discounted in the past by the club to try and encourage bums-on-seats the crowds have been pitiful. So what is there to lose?
  15. One way or another he's finished at Brum so the last thing that he wants to do is pick up an injury is it modes? Anyway get this quote from Sullivan in the Telegraph "The bottom line is that he is an adult who signed a contract and should honour it. We all have problems in life that we have to overcome. Why he thinks he is such a different case, I don't know. This club is not a voluntary organisation. You just can't turn up and think you can do what you please.'' Hmm didn't Bruce have a contract at Palace? ......... and is Sullivan new to this business? He may have a point but as far as football is concerned he certainly playing overly naive. and.............. didn't Robbie Blake have a contract at Burnley until Wigan and Brum came a courting or does that sort of contract not count? It should do cos everybody knows that Burnley are a far bigger club than Brum and Villa put together.
  16. V Hard working but I'm a lomg term season ticket holder and afraid I cannot rem the one game that Damien beat somebody on the outside. He always wandered inside and played far too narrow giving no outlet wide for his colleagues imo. Dunny. Bags of ability but an expensive sick note. The longer this injury stuff goes on the less likely (given his burly physique) the less likely he is to get over it. Taylor. To coin a local expression..............'you've been sold a pup'! There's more aggression in Julian Clary's handbag. As for Savage. 1. He shouldn't have signed a contract with you. 2. Everton will prob be lurking as Moyes is a known admirer and especially so if Graveson leaves. 3. I have a feeling that if nothing else happens then Brum will wring this out till Jan 31st in order to minimise his influence for us this season. imo and I said so on here that we should have beat you to his sig when he left Leicester but thats spilt milk now. But Chelseas signing of Jarosek for little money means that there are plenty of options out there........ they just need looking for. As for the future. Your boards treatment of Forsell is a bit shabby. I guess that your board dont care who they upset eh? Careful cos given time things like that can bite you on the arse. We should now look at making an agreement with Chelsea to procure the services of Forsell subject to his recovery for next season, oh and imo we should have beaten you lot to him as well 2 years ago. (dont want to sound all 'i told ya so' but thats something else that I commented on at the time.)
  17. It contributed Tris (like Spurs goal against us) but its still bad defending to let an unawarded foul in the opponants half of the pitch lead directly to a goal.
  18. Dunno about cost less but compared to them at the same stage in their career he is certainly worth less.
  19. The entire story is now being milked for all its worth now by the press and media searching for every angle possible on 'human stories'. It seems to me that it i all designed to put us onto some sort of a guilt trip as if we are somehow to blame simply because we are a 'rich' nation who go there for our holidays! Its an ongoing disaster of huge proportions and no mistake but this morning on breakfast tv the main item was a story about some chap in India whose tourist trinket making business had been ruined ffs. He was surrounded by debris of all sorts yet was trying to get his staff back to work asap. Fine sentiments I'm sure but surely they would be much better employed on other more pressing tasks? Interestingly he was estimating / speculating how much it would cost to rebuild / refurbish damaged hotels etc. Hmmm So I guess there is no chance of a similar or even more powerful earthquake at some point in the future is there? Surely any rebuilding programmes must take account of that and put buildings further back on higher ground to prevent any repeat disasters? Or am I just being overly cautious? Putting holiday apartments in idyllic places right on the beach must surely now not be a selling point or are tourists that stupid that in a few years we will all have forgotten about it?......... Nah forget it I suspect that I already know the answer to that one. Bit like skin cancer and the "it'll never happen to me or my kids so sod it" attitude.
  20. If thats the size of your foot Bryan I can see you being huge hit with the ladies. As for live video evidence, I'm all for it. It would be the first administrative footballing decision to work against the big clubs in my lifetime. 'Homers' would rightly become a thing of the past.
  21. He'd prob have progressed as far as he has since..... or are Upson and Cunningham both bad influences on him as well?
  22. I looked for that for ages and couldn't find it. Excellent player though who ironically imo would complement Savage well.
  24. Or maybe Hughes is looking for a team captain.
  25. Eh? The consensus on here is that our small squad of 'Hughes approved' relegation threatened players is looking overplayed and jaded. So why do you advocate that we need more games to tire them out further and risk injuries?
