  1. All due respects but it prob wont work that way cos unless Palace chose to replace Dowie from within any new manager for them would prob want to bring his own assistants and Palace would then have to terminate and pay up on those 4 year contracts. The bonus with GS moving to Newcastle was him taking Boersma, Murray and Saunders with him. Any new manager coming here would not want them and they would have been expensive for us to get rid of.
  2. His thinking wasn't flawed at all. Rightly or wrongly but definitely suprisingly Parkes played adventurously with two wingers from the start, cos of this the two in the middle needed to be grafters and tacklers. If Flitcroft let anybody down then blame him. Personally I might just have played a 4-5-1 (with GF prob being one) for the first half to stifle the game and frustrate the mags and hope that their notoriously short tempered fans get on their backs for the second half.
  3. Bit of a bitter sweet experience for the Mags. They'll initially be celebrating an easy win but this will be soured when they think about the end result of four years hard work by their new manager.
  4. Why did they ask George Best? He's never even had job of any description!
  5. Houlliers a joke manager. I still rem all the sh1t he stirred up over Neil's tackle on Carragher whilst completely ignoring all criticism for Gerrard for all his violent misdemeanours. The man is a fool and French to boot. However Diouf hardly covers himself in glory by suggesting all his problems, lack of form and his inability to adapt to English football were down to Houllier. Like most smacked arsey footballers he should maybe spend some time looking in a mirror.
  6. How long have you been suffering from insomnia Greg? You mut be desperate for a cure.
  7. If he's any sense at all he'll be running up and down sand dunes somewhere in a desperate attempt to get fully fit before the new man takes over. No one seems to want to match his wages so he must realise that he needs to buckle down here. Alternatively he might be found in the W H Smiths looking for a leaving card for Souey.
  8. Dont be such a stupid and vindictive @#/? Magoo........ unless of course you would actually be prepared to say that to his face which somehow I doubt. You choose to use words lie 'Morality' and 'loyalty' but somehow they are not words that I would ever associate with you. Souness was undoubtedly on the ropes at Blackburn (not for being an unprincipled slimeball btw but rather for losing his way with the team) whilst Allardyce is currently on a roll at Notlob. Read between the lines and Sam is saying YES I am available to a big club but I would be stupid to take the Newcastle job because with Fat Freddie at the helm, AS playing God and lots of little men with inflated ego's is a poisoned chalice which with a nice safe 10 year contract at Bolton in the bank . So thanks but no thanks Freddie.
  9. And did you see HOW he said it the clown?!? Laughing like Everton are a billion light years ahead of us on all fronts! Yes but he is a theatrical impresario isn't he? It'll be down on his imaginary script to deny Moyes is going to blackburn and then to either smile condescendingly of guffaw loudly. Which was it? Having said that a new ce might just be able to placate a clearly unhappy Moyes. btw speaking to a scouse (red) mate of mine who has just been on a golfing holiday with a group of blokes, one of whom works for a company with complete access to Evertons 'books'. Anyway it transpires that they are managed dreadfully and are in a real financial mess. 320..........yes 320 employees on the payroll! It transpires that Kenwright is clueless about running a business of that sort and runs it as his own private club with many executive boxes given as freebies and simply not even billed for. I bet the people that do have to pay would not be happy to know that fact, but it's easy to predict that a disciplined guy like Moyes will not tolerate such slackness.
  10. S'funny but for the life of me I cant remember him. What odds is he on betfair?
  11. If it's for real then the inmates will soon be running the bloody asylum! I have never heard anything so daft! Who thinks that players would be allowed to appoint their own choice as manager anywhere else? Especially not one of their own mates. I'm just praying that all this Hughes making positive comments, Hughes topping the let poll and Hughes being the players choice is all an elaborate bluff concocted by Williams and a willing Hughes to put everyone else of the scent whilst negotiations with the real new manager (someone I trust who possesses all the credentials and experience that Hughes doesn't) and his club are conducted and finalised in secret and in decent time. This is all hugely important! If we dont get the right person (and that is not some ex player that we all remember with great affection for playing for us in the twilight of his career when no one else wanted him......and especially for clouting Darren Anderton at Cardiff) then we are in Div 1!
  12. Hening Berg in front of Keith Newton highlights just how meaningless these polls really are. It may not be totally democratic but I suggest that more votes be allotted to each member on the basis of one vote per decade lived! That way the effect created by gormless kids on the overall vote can be negated.
  13. An interesting thought that I have been having since he's resigned is that if some bigger club had poached him from us 18 months ago Souness would now be an absolute legend with the Blackburn public and right up there with KMD! As with Duff the board would have been heavily criticised from all angles for lack of ambition and roundly blamed for the subsequent fall in attendances. And if we still had a managerial vacancy there would be an almighty clamouring even from Jim (Wormtongue) to get him back at any cost. Anyway g'wan Jim do as you have been asked and nominate your preferred choice for our new manager. Or has the cat got your tongue? Rover6 has made a complete d1ck of himself with his continual chirping about Sturrock. I suggest that your cunning and fear of future ridicule is all that is preventing you from coming out of your closet.
  14. Or maybe Dalglish and Newell! Unless KMD has burned his bridges with the powers that be.
  15. You must have a memory one second longer than a goldfish! I said weeks ago in the close season that GS's future lay not in his results as much as in the number of empty seats and lost season ticket sales caused by..... 1. the home performances of HIS team last year. 2. the tantrums and excesses of his two black pearls......sorry puddings. 3. GS continually denying the Blackburn public any pride of competing in Europe! He misjudged that effect really badly. It might be OK for Lpool and Rangers they are there every year but for us European competition is the stuff of dreams and he rammed those dreams down our throats nd shamed the town, te country and the fans. To repeat that would cause a riot in Newcastle. Speak to the paying public and unfortunately they were turning away from his style of management. GS did a decent job for 3 years but it was time to move on. Fantastic turn of events for us and him as we would have had to get rid and pay off him and his staff in the near future if Fat Freddie hadn't come a calling.
  16. Doubt it we are looikng for a caretaker not a miracle worker. But I do think we will see more of Tony's type eg grafters like Douglas, Flitty, and not as much of the ....shall we say.....less 'committed' types.
  17. imo Hughes could be disastrous. The biggest criticism of GS was that his tactical nous was poor as was his ability to manage and motivate his players s in dividuals, these qualities are absolutely imperative nowadays. Those abilities ...or lack of em constitute the biggest question marks over Hughes, especially the motivation cos by and large motivational skills are not required for managing minor international teams. Tried and tested candidates only please there is no room for sentiment. Halle-fricken-lujah. I love it when out of the blue someone just pops up and applies some sense to the arguement. I think I'm going to blush Toogs.......I'm not used to being praised on here! Anyway...... and this is well unfair I know but there's just something about Sparky's quiet demeanour that is a taj reminiscent of Jim Iley! BTW Has anybody read Fergy's book to see if there is any reference to Sparkys managerial qualities cos like him or hate him the old RFW was bang on right about Kiddo!
  18. I'd heard from a reliable source that before Souness's departure he had also managed to fall out with Gallagher. Gally's crime? The heinous crime of stating that he wanted to start more games this season. All allegedly of course. Its not what you say Rev its how you say it. 'I hope that you'll give me more games in th first team Boss' is very different from.... 'If I dont play more games I'm gonna f*** off' We'll never know which way is it was will we? BTW GS left Spurs for Boro cos he could'nt get into the 1st team.
  19. imo Hughes could be disastrous. 20. Yes, definitely. As I said in my earlier post, any all-time Rovers team would HAVE to include Keith Newton. If he is not in at right back then he must go in at left. He was a class act whereever he played. I dont rem that happening too often cos Billy Wilson made that position his own, at least not until he went to Everton where Catterick forced him to play and he coped so well that England even used him there.
  21. 'Greatest ever'? I can only assume that means as a player so Newton is my choice as I obviously never saw Crompton and Keith really did have international class. As for the rest.......insulting to mention any of them in the same breath as those two. Berg was an international class centre half and it showed when he played full back .........if he'd ever gone past the half way line he'd have got a nose bleed. Hird and Price were exciting going forward but poor defensibly. Bray a hard man but never a 'proper footballer', Atko and Neil? Nah. Perez daft to include him he wasn't here 5 minutes. And if Jim Branagan and David May even dream they were fit to lace Newtons boots they had better wake up and apologise.
