  1. It seem that my initial observations of Barry Ferguson are now being widely accepted on here. No way is there a £7m player in him. My initial judgment that he is a square peg in a round hole appear to be well founded. A nagging doubt that I have had in my mind about GS reign was whether or not there were sticky fingers in the till concerning some of our transfer dealings. We have consistently paid far too much for ordinary players far too often for coincidence. Grabbi, Reid, Ferguson, Amo, Yorke etc. At the moment it's just a suspicion and will probably never be proven but......... Anyway dunno if anybody has mentioned this but imo we would have had at least a point if we still had Cole. (oops sorry Kamy......you just did! great minds eh?) The fact that 6ft+ Lucas Neil still insists on trying to hinder and out muscle his man before choosing to actually jump for the ball doesn't help either! As for the team spirit and effort last night. Thats fine and good at the moment, but lack of success will soon erode both. The Prem has divided into the top 3, the bottom 5 and the rest. Anybody require further clarification of our position in all this? Dunno if this is kosher but somebody mentioned that Hartson is soon out of contract, if thats the case then we should offer him a kings ransom to come.......but only on a pay as you play basis.
  2. Newton was so good that he could easily have been selected at BOTH right back and left back!
  3. Bit unfair all this. Palmer was never a constructive player but rather a getter and giver. I do rem him putting in an absolutely superb performance v the mighty Dutch, he tackled everything and covered every blade of grass, but that was his style. Like Robbie Savage honest 100% work rate was guaranteed every game. Sure it's maybe a step too far to international level but I would much rather have him in that role than Nicky Butt. In fact it's probable he'd have had a shed load more caps if he had payed for MU. He'd have been superb next to Tugay in our midfield.
  4. Yeah but maybe why you did not vote for Johnny Forbes Al! Anyway I should think that 50 votes (at this point in time) over 40 years after he finished playing is one hell of a compliment to the man, and one that he would prob be overjoyed with. I doubt Le saux will receive as many votes 40 odd years from now.
  5. Misspelling words is no proof you are drunk.. Maybe a sudden cold snap has prompted our very own Nanook to type in his mittens.
  6. Yeah and break your leg and you and your accident chasing scumbag lawyer would prob be the first in the queue to claim damages. Clubs would be committing financial suicide to sanction or condone standing in seated areas. They are simply not designed for that purpose. The only alternative to all seater stadia is to have a section of the ground reverted to terracing with lots of barriers then the stupid d1ckheads can all stand together. Better still lets have a real return to tradition for the above section of football fans and take the roof off! btw Amanda shouldn't you be busy in the kitchen?
  7. Great position for Lowe and Soton to be in. If he is a success give him a contract as soon as he passes his exams, if he isn't then simply pot him at no cost.
  8. If that is indeed true it's amazing given the strict regime re: attention to bodyweight and fitness that Gs played under at Lpool. Paisleys players first task on a Mon morn was to be weighed and if they were over the weight designated by the club they trained longer and harder until they lost it! Period! No exceptions! I have said this before that a clause relating to players keeping themselves in peak physical fitness with severe financial penalties for not doing should be inserted into their contracts. We should have learned this after the Kidd reign that left Gs inheriting lardies like Davidson, Blake, Dailly, Grayson etc. After the escape at the end of last season and after seeing no change at the start of this one I have got to admit that I have been left wondering if GS was actually angling for the sack and having his contract paid up.
  9. Bill Eck was of course a legend but unfortuntely I never saw him play. Keith Newton is the best full back of em all imo but I only recall him playing at right back for us. (Btw daft Harry Catterick playing him lb for Everton and because of this him being selected to play lb for England in the 70 world cup just illustrates his quality.........(and the lack of judgement of so many on this mb). So on the basis of that and my own interpretation of this poll as a sort of schoolyard pick your team from that lot basis I select Le Saux. I am being totally serious when I say that I can think of no English team since the 60's and no ENGLAND team for that matter that would have boasted two better full back's than a combination of Newton right back and Le saux left back!
  10. 1. Caucasian •adj. (41%) relating to or denoting a broad division of humankind covering peoples from Europe, western Asia, and parts of India and North Africa. →white-skinned; of European origin. Sorry Brian but you must realise the sh1t that I would get into by some of the less intelligent pond life on here if (heaven forbid) I referred to White folk whose Ancestors have Lived here for Centuries as 'English'? Maybe adopting the abbreviation WALC's is a nice pc idea? Is that OK for everybody if I use it now and again? No better still if I change 'centuries' to 'lots of years' then we can refer to ourelves as WALLY's. Far more appropriate I think.......and given the current state of the nation a damned site more accurate!
  11. Congratulations on your self-appointed moderator status Timmy! Tell me what problems does the ratio of IndoPaks to white caucasians cause in your neck of the woods? And may I suggest that you do your bit by bringing em all in your car to the next home match.
  12. Crikey the must have a lot of students in Sheff if their population has a bigger %age student population than ours! We have masses of students in Blackburn!* *80% of them will not be doing anything worthwhile mind.
  13. The obvious difference on Wed night was that the gulf in class of our 2nd string over the cherries 1st team was miles wide. But the difference in their determination, team work, professionalism (maybe the worst accusation of the lot) and fitness (no sorry.... that is!) was plain for all to see! Some will suggest that it was understandable for us to underestimate them but not me. These were players supposedly trying to impress a new manager enough to give em a 1st team place! Their application suggested otherwise! As for the play itself......sure we had the lions share of possession but for that to only materialise in soft lobbed crosses from deep was reprehensible....... a lazy, disinterested way out if ever there was one! We couldn't hurt a Sunday league team with those tactics. Bothroyd looks a talent but that style of attacking play is totally unsuited to his abilities. How many goals would Thierry Henry get if all he was fed were soft lobbed crosses to the edge of the box? How many goals would Shearer have scored if he was expected to sprint past defenders and chase balls down the channels? My first impressions are that Bothroyd needs to be supplied in a totally different way than Stead. I will eat some of my words by suggesting that Jansen looked our best attacker .......but before anybody gets a false impression, if I'd taken my 20 year old boots that I finished my playing career in I would have been a close second! Th only consolation is that we dont need to wait until the transfer window for the new management team to make improvements, and I suggest bodyweight, fitness and mental conditioning are priority. PS imo But for Fat Freddy Shepherd this would have been GS's last game in charge and we would now be facing a big fat redundancy pay out! Thanks Freddy!
  14. I still refer to em as teams in Division 3 AESF!
  15. I suggest that it can only be something to do with guidance, policies and qualities of the respective councils down the years then.
  16. Should that not be 'grammatical mistakes'?
  17. Kamy would you accept my suggestion that those 3 points be placed in reverse order? The supporting bit must be highest by some distance as even buying / wearing BRFC shirts appears to be 'un-cool' amongst the IndoPak youth in this town. I may be going off on a tangent but could it be that to wear a BRFC shirt could even attract adverse peer pressure from within their own community? I only query this cos I see so few about.
  18. Not more than 20%? That should equate to another 3-4000 on the gate and that is certainly not to be sniffed at! As for disposable income?!? Complete Ballax! 'Let the scales fall from thine eyes' and just ask Westwood Mercedes and Bowker BMW about that! And if you dont believe them then ask a few estate agents in town!
  19. So thats the difference is it? You really need to visit cock because I can tell you that if thats the case they are just like the rest of us! Please dont fall into the common trap of thinking that everyone else is better off than you! Blackburn is a poor and depressed town........for all it's inhabitants. (Dont think that it'll ever be 'conservative' though )
  20. Listen laddie you think you are educated? Well imo it takes a special talent to avoid a university education these days. btw whose bright lights are you enjoying and what are you studying?
  21. Surely in Toronto you have a common link? You are ALL immigrants together. E in T I dont want to offend you but you are beginning to sound like an Aussie!
  22. Maybe not that rosy for him. Gallaghers development appears to have stopped imo. In 12 months he's gone from looking a good prospect to looking a very ordinary substitute. GS hinted at something like this. Hughes has publically stated that everyone starts with a clean sheet. So its up to Gally, if he responds then well and good, if he fails to do that then he needs to be shown the door where he will have to find his own level.
  23. This may be pedantic but imo when discussing racial issues pedantry appears to be very important....... Surely benefitting the IndoPak community whilst by definition neglecting the white community is racist?
  24. Mrs J, I salute you. Brilliant post. The heart over the head and long may it reign. Heart over the head? Very commendable but tantamount to suicide in any kind of competetive business.
  25. Bit too sentimental Mrs J. Have you been reading too many weepies? The simple truth is that despite being given chance afterchance he has not performed well enough in training and in the reserves to convince the manager that he is worth his place. Do you not think GS would have loved to have a fully fit and capable Jansen when we were in last years relegation scrap? I'm damned sure he would. And even more so before we signed Stead. Criticise GS all you want but when a team is at the bottom of the table it is the managers neck on the block and not the players. As for dignified silences and plugging away until GS left?! I think GS treatment of MJ was brilliant. Souness never criticised him once but in public supported him totally. I have no doubt that he would have had the boards support in replacing him on the condition that he got rid first, but that never happened and tat can only have been Souness's decision. Bandwagon jumping to diss GS is very popular at the moment for very obvious reasons but even he does not deserve criticism for the way he treated MJ.
