  1. I never shirk from the truth Herbergeeh. I'd much rather have had him fit and well and I certainly don't possess a crystal ball but in hindsight and given the circumstances we would prob have been quite justified to have terminated his contract and looked for a replacement striker. Last seasons flirt with relegation was to close a call and just think where we may have been should Cole or Stead have got a long term injury? They didn't of course but it could have consigned our Premiership experience to the history books. btw despite his marvellous matchwinning goal last Sat I am still far from convinced that he has the ability to return to Premiership quality. I only hope that I'm proven wrong
  2. Have I bollax said that! Are you thick or do you simply have difficulty reading? Please feel free to quote the post where I said that..... or better still stop trying to twist my words! You may not believe this but I would have much preferred him to have stuck to his contractual obligations to BRFC by not getting on a stupid bloddy moped in the first place! I loved the guy and his abilities when he came and scored on his debut, during the promotion year, and the season following at Cardiff and in the league. As with the assassination of JFK and the Twin Towers I rem reading the first hint about his accident on here by somebody who had overheard 2 women talking in a shop in Gisburn fcs! Yet you call me sick and talk of me as if I want him dead!..... Clown!
  3. Talk about this all you like but unfortunately in the cold light of day it keeps coming back round to my 2 points here ....... http://www.brfcs.co.uk/mb/index.php?showtopic=9594&st=40 Nobody wants to face up to the fact that we have defied gravity for 15 years or so but we will not be able to do that for much longer without some sort of major success. Apart from the die-hards I am finding that far too many people in this town have the 'bought that particular T shirt' attitude to BRFC and the rest simply couldn't give a flying fcku about the tradition, history and sentimentality associated with Blackburn Rovers.
  4. Amoruso wasn't blameless either, he was being lazy and ambling back obviously expecting Matteo to clear the danger on his own. If he had simply sprinted for 10 yards to get goal side of both Matteo and Yacuba he would have tidied up any danger easily.
  5. Need to rem that...... 1. taking Berger off maybe coincidd with Brett attacking more. 2. He was up against the slowest full back in Christendom. I've seen milk turn quicker than Unsworth!
  6. Thats daft! Nobody on her wished Matt any harm and everybody would want him back as he was before his Roman Holiday. I'm one that suggested that it's time to part company with him and though he scored with a cracking shot he generally contributed little. His first touch is abysmal and he even got away with a bad first touch when he scored. Lets just hope that Hughes and this goal can kick start his career. Gotta say I was mighty impressed with what I saw of Bothroyd. It wasn't much granted, but he certainly looks good, and his presence may allow Stead a little time in the reserves / on the bench to regain his confidence which it appears that he needs.
  7. Maybe that bit of luck was long overdue. Fuller was fouled but flailed his arms in the air to make it look better. As he had tried on or two dives on before I feel that the ref was weary of his histrionics. btw Brad looked uncharactersically uncertain on a couple of occasions! I've no idea why though
  8. Tony Diamond Inc heres one: Can we make that his sig?
  9. I Thought Ferguson wanted to keep Kidd as his assistant but didnt want to stop him furthering his career?? You might be right im not sure Ferguson was highly critical (and widely quoted) of Kidd's managerial qualities in his autobiography which was published soon after BK got the Rovers job.
  10. See what I mean folks? Decades of being denied any success whatsoever destroys all hope and produces embittered losers! Sad spectacle really when envy and hatred are the primary emotions. Take heed we only pass this way once, life is NOT a rehearsal. Do you really want your kids to grow up like him? I thank you longside for providing the most persuasive argument yet for a tryst with nob end.
  11. So who do you foresee as sponsors name on our shirts? "Khyber Caf"?
  12. Hang on booth! Junction 4 of the M65 is only about 3/4 of a mile away. How easy do you want it to be? btw am I alone in wondering just how much influence old JW exerted to get the M65 to follow the brown route? Parking is a difficult one. Any assistance from the Labour council that has been nothing short of pathetic! It's obvious that the local residents must have some sort of priority to park outside their homes (even if they did know full well that they were buying a cheap house cos it's near to a football ground). But the council has done absolutely ferk all constructive to provide parking for a Premier league team. In fact the most significant action by the council was to stupidly put a gypsy camp and a skid pan on the biggest car park that we had! How thick was that? Every time there is a cause for celebration the smarmy bstrads throw a civic reception to celebrate with the team, but how many supporters ever get invited to that eh?.........even though it's they who pay for the team, the council and the free blasted junket! Why they do not represent us as they should is a bludy scandal! We have the best support of any Prem club from within the town. Fact! So why do the council continually place obstacles and objections in the way of BRFC rather than actually providing support and assistance? Have they even now got a long standing grudge / vendetta against the biggest capitalists that this town ever produced? Because the lack of recognition for the achievements of the Walker Bros in benefitting Blackburn and it's citizens is so pointed that it is scandalous! (Barbara Castle Way ffs!) Maybe we should select a few Indo-Pakistani's in the first team squad and then the council would have to bend over backwards to help out and finally embarrass Jack Straw into arranging for Fred Walker to become 'Lord Fred' to boot.
  13. Anyway how long a contract has he been offered? I hope we have'nt done an 'FA'. I note that GS only got one for 2 years at Newcastle. I really do wish Hughes well. I am not motivated like Jim,KSB, Jan et al who would rather see Rovers fail than have seen GS succeed. My scepticism is because of our current situation in the league where more than anything we need an experienced tried and tested manager rather than a complete novice.
  14. Sorry GreggyK it was me! I didn't realise that it was either necessary or 'well ard' to own up after voting both in private and by definition anonymously! In fact I did'nt even realise that I was supposed to. So there I've owned up for no good reason really, now it's your turn........ now you own up and tell me just what the f~@k it's got to do with you which way I voted? PS talking of owning up I asked a question too which has been ignored. 'How many would have voted for him if he had never played for us?'
  15. Right! Fine! But if through some strange sense of collective nostalgia we are to be doomed again to eons in the lower divisons and down with the dead men baggsi first with that cheesegrater on Sat aft.
  16. Afraid I'm in Phils camp on this one. Footballing history is littered with unproven ex-players turned managers (Blackpool ). Most worrying by far is that he is supposedly the players choice! I obviousy wish him well though and I hope that I am proven well wrong. In fact nothing would give me greater pleasure because if he fails then our days in the Prem will be consigned to the hstory books. Much will depend on his choice of assistants.......(ST anybody?) But I just have to wonder exactly how many on here from the pro Hughes corner would have wanted him if he had never played for BRFC?
  17. No doubt that's what supporters of Blackburn Olympic once said sg194.....and dont forget that they won the FA cup first! Question for you, Lets suppose though that Olympic were still in existence, were still strong rivals and that we had both been languishing in the 3rd Div for the past 100 years or so with absolutely no hope of anything better. Would it or would it not make sense to merge?
  18. Why's that? If he keeps us up Jim he'll have done well, and if we go down he possesses the knowledege and experience of Div 1 to bring us back.
  19. That is precisely the reason why we should not to employ him. Like Newcastle with GS, I fear that we may well have to settle for Hughes as a backstop if the boards preferred target(s) turn us down.
  20. Sorry Gav but support from the Backburn public is an ever decreasing spiral....and you dont need me to tell you why. Figures released from a survey a few years ago suggested that we were the best supported club in the Prem from within the town. That is of course an excellent and highly commendable stat but without JW's input even that is simply not enough to sustain a top level team. What if the input from the trust was to dry up for whatever reason? Football at any level must be self sufficient in the long term. 14 years is a nothing more than a drop in a bucket. I want a top team in this area for my kids to suppor and their kids etc. I DO NOT WANT FUTURE GENERATIONS SUPPORTING MfU! And this WILL happen. Fact......Expanding our support base is essential to maintain a prem team. Fact......We cannot do it from within our own supporters. It would be infinitely prefrable to move this forward from a position of strength if we are to remain a dominant influence. (Just think how laughable would it be if it were being suggested by Blackpool FC?) I obviously dont want to lose BRFC and it's history but the med to long term alternative is worse.
  21. Just wrote along and laborious post and the piggin comp crashed on the last pragraph and saved you all. Anyway the gist was that we in this tiny footballing town will inevitably find our own level down among the dead men and with no hope of recovery unless another JW can be found (the last one took 100 years to show up btw). The only way is to disband 4 and reform as 1 Lancashire club. But it will never work as most people appear to prefer to die in false hope.
  22. What did you expect. They had Glory Glory Tottenham Hotspur as their main game to concentrate their whole program on. You forgot at least 5 mins on a deeply relevent report on a part-time Carpenters imitator called Karen who is PA to Harry Redknapp at Portsmouth and has cracking tits.
  23. I imagine most of that know enough about Newton voted for Garner at right back as Den has already indicated that Newton will be listed again as an option for centre-back (where he will undoubtedly be voted in). Jeez wtf must that post have been like before sam edited it? Anyway I steadfastly maintain that if by some chance Keith Newton had been here in the Jack Walker years he would definitely have been picked to play right back and Henning Berg would have been left back................left back on the bench!
  24. C'mon GS will be whackin it big time at the moment! The mags fans have made it plain that he is about as popular as a turd in a swimming pool and so his statement that he wants his son to grow up into a Geordie is just a weak and transparent attempt to ingratiate himself with them. Surely you didn't think the kid would turn up in blue and white halves did you? As for us.......we have a mis-firing squad and first and foremost we need to become hard to beat in order to boost confidence and morale amongst the players and supporters by conducting a damage limitation exercise betwen now and January when the new manager may be able to do some wheeling and dealing. Every time TP has taken over in the past he has succeeded in doing this and yesterdays squad of an adventurous 4-4-2 with 2 wingers away to Newcastle certainly surprised me. Our best results last season when we had our backs to the wall coincided with us playing 3 'water carriers' narrow and behind Tugay who in turn was playing just behind the strikers. I suggest that we should revert to that formation in the short term. It aint pretty but if that allows us to be less of a push over and to actually pick some points up who cares?
