[Archived] Newcastle United 0 Blackburn Rovers 1

I find it odd to say the least that Freddie Shepherd isn't the target of their anger. Sure Souness is performing worse than even we dared hope but the buck surely stops with Shepherd. The fat fool upset the mags fans by comments made in Spain, he got rid of Robson and appointed Souness, he is the one who runs the show and who appears now to be unhealthily engineering the increasingly manipulative alan shearer into the managers seat. I know he is chummy with the Hall family but just how did he become chairman and how does he manage to stay there? -
Asked if managers always became involved in transfers Eriksson said: "Yeah, and of course they put money in their pocket." One club was described as having a "stereotypical dodgy manager" while the boss of another was said to have thrown a "smoke screen" over an attempted bung. A third was said to have paid "far too much for certain players because of illegal deals with agents and managers". Me too Bryan

[Archived] Hughes Challenges Board
thenodrog replied to John's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Agree totally but the reallity is that since Hughes has arrived the attendances have plummeted. I cannot think of any other team in the Prem that would have suffered that ignominity. It's obvious that Blackburn doesn't deserve a Prem team. -

From the BBC site........... "Robbie Savage, for all the criticism he receives, is a midfielder that many teams up and down the country would lust after. The Wales star was at the centre of starting many of Blackburn's forward forays. One almost led to an early goal for the visitors, but striker Dickov was foiled by Given's sublime reactions from just two yards out. " The first sentence just about sums Savage up imo Den. Course that wont be enough for waggy et al to give any sort of praise. -

Newcastle is about 100 miles North of us so I think this is actually further proof of the existence of southern bias! -

Would still have been worth it imo. -

No I think that tug contributed much to the outcome. MGP would have got his head on that ball easily but for the 'tug' which caused him to move forward and instinctively knock it in with his hand ....... ...........I do think that .......really. But then I would say that wouldn't I? -

Whats up with you? You think you know it all, and you don't mind sounding stupid. A potent combination. Todd kicked Dugarry up the arse ffs! If you had seen the incident you must have remembered it...... unless its you thats had the bump on the head. -
I often wonder how much of Pompeys former success was down to arry and how much to (the excellent) Jim Smith. We might just find out in the next few months.

I'm still waiting to find out where Nayef got that pic of my missus! -
A cover up operation Flopsy? Nothing wrong with a bit of speculation imo. This IS a discussion board after all isnt it? After all people in this country are always deemed innocent unless proved guilty aren't they?
-
I've pointed that out before DMTP. If some other club had poached him away 2 years previously (and they could easily have done.....spurs were interested I believe) we would be lauding him as one of our best managers ever. Unfortunately he stayed and some of his 'strange' transfer deals have left lingering stench in my opinion.

You have a strange perspective on the word 'cowardly' LeChuck. Quick tempered would cover all those incidents imo. Would you rather have him locked up in spain? 'Forgetting' urine tests? Kung Fu kicking spectators? cheating? gambling? drinking to abusive levels? Spitting? Roasting? Dogging? Stealing from his team mates? Driving about in ludicrous vehicles.....etc etc? He's just a normal bloke imo who wont allow people taking liberties and is a bit quick with his fists. imo Roy Keane is similar, sure he's been a better player and more influetial on the pitch but apart from that he's probably most peoples ideal captain. -

Todds not the best player in the country thats true but he's a mans man Spency. Hard but fair. A good honest, old fashioned pro who never attracts adverse media attention for his private life. Obviously you would prefer a cheating, spitting, swearing, dirty player with a penchant for gambling and debauched nightlife? Re: Vp he was innocent as you have now been told, with his worst discretions being in instant but understandable retaliation for physical attacks on him. Vid replays show that ....... 1. He'd just been kicked around the knackers when he booted Dugarry's arse out of temper. 2. Reid had stamped on his foot when passing by immediately before he nutted him. -

et tu Brute......... BTW I would think that 'what the ell was he doing on a bloody moped?' was repeated about 25000 times in the Blackburn area alone that day. Anyway did Matt ever come up with an answer? -
Joking aside TDI, I quite like our new tough guy reputation. in fact I've desired similar for years. imo and merely as a 'guesstimate' the Hughes instigated 'hardbutfairandfrightenedofabsolutelynofecker' style breeds team spirit and confidence and must be worth about 10 points a season! Sure the unfair southerm based media witchhunt stuff from stupid people who have never kicked a ball in their born chuff's grates with me, but we do get lots of quiet praise from 'proper' football pundits, and rightly so. Bolton alternatively go too far and are the new Wimbledon imo. How they have escaped being tagged with our reputation I've no idea but whilst we are hard we are fair and apart from the odd bit of playacting by Sav and occasional dive by Dickov we do play fair. Compare our tactics to the win at all cost methods used by Bolton and Everton, compare it to the diving, playacting and pressurising of officials by the likes of media darlings Chelsea and Arsenal and I quite rightly feel a sense of pride. Souness used to say he had a team of 'proper men' didn't he? Well what bollaxx that claim was in hindsight when compared to the teams attitude now.

Praise indeed Tris. I think I detect a change of heart, albeit somewhat grudging, in your opinion of Savage. -

Yes he did, I'm sure it was in the programme......... "thanx to al mie favorit fanz for suppp......suportin......suprort........chearing me wen I av plaid futbal fort rovers. Iwill mis yu lot and a lots. luv gari flitty" Anyway let me ask you a question mrsj... Lets suppose Ole Gunnar Solskaer wanted to leave OT last week in order to resurrect his career after his recent serious career threatening injury and had asked the MU management to please release him from his contact, and the board had agreed in principle. Do you think the old RFW would have been as naive as we were to allow him the chance to turn out for their biggest rivals at City just 2 days after? Would he hell! I'm ashamed to say that we handled the whole thing like naive amateurs. Yet another player and his agent outwitting our board. How many times are we going to alllow these embarrassments to continue? Oh btw if I rem the blurb when we signed him correctly Matty supports Carlisle first and Newcastle second. -

World cup squad?!? Some bstard journo spotted the opportunity to take the mickey and poor matty cannot even spot the p1ss take. How sads that? -
Ever considered the distinct and very real possibility of low gate receipts AND no points? Business is business I'm afraid.
-
I saw the Boro v Arse game at the riverside earlier in the season on the tele. Let me tell you that that was no stunning display at all! The arse should have scored 6 that day! Boro simplyn used up half a seasons luck in one game.

RFW and Rooney let off eh? If Big Sam gets done now he'll be blazing mad. And quite rightly so. Is Bennett in somebody's pocket or what? Holiday in Tampa next summer Steve is it?
