The thing is all the players are professionals. The best outcome for everyone if Rothwell stays, is that the Rovers get promoted. If we need Rothwell to achieve that, then the rest of the team have to accept that at work. Away from work he might be ostracized.

If he gave me the "I am 100% commited" answer in the first place. I would tell him he is still a first team squad player, and will be considered for first team selection on merit.

My answer was to the ficticious question asked, and is what I would do in that scenario.

I would bring the rest of the squad into the room and ask him the question again. Then explain to the rest of the squad, that is why Joe Rothwell no longer trains with Blackburn Rovers at any level.

If he plays good enough to earn a place, I would have no problem with Joe playing. Loyalty to a club is a long gone traite. If he is in our winning side at Swansea next week, I will cheer him. At least if he scores, he will not have to go through the kissing of the badge routine.
