  1. William Bancroft was a football chairman of a by gone era and that is not to belittle but to laud his achievements. The time when local people without deep pockets gave their all for their local league football club and had a realistic opportunity of promotion to the highest level. Our Chairman at a time when the club's very existence was precarious and suffering some of its lowest moments in history, he skillfully steered the club to safety and appointed a string of exceptional managers. Got to remember he too suffered the chants of sack the board and worse. rip a fine man
  2. I am not advocating a draw against Hull, I am just pointing out that because of the Millwall v Preston game this weekend, Rovers would still have a play-off place in our own hands.
  3. Advantages of the Rovers run in against teams with at least half an eye on promotion, provided we do no worse than draw against Hull, our fate is in our own hands and if we make the play-offs, we will be well acclimatised to playing rivals.
  4. Vincent Kompany, Michael Carrick & Mark Robins shortlisted for Championship Manager of the Season @EFL Awards April 23. Chuba Akpom, Viktor Gyökeres, Josh Brownhill up for Championship Player of the Season. Young Player shortlist: Alex Scott, Hayden Hackney, Amad Diallo.
  5. Only Rovers have Hull and Burnley in the fixtures to play. Millwall having quite a say on Lancastrian futures.. At this stage of the season it is impossible to call games hard or easy.
  6. JRC previous contract took time also.
  7. Gally looked gutted when the camera panned to him on the bench. Agreed Harry looks more of a natural striker based on those few minutes than either Gally or Vale. It also looked to me watching through the cameras that Colin had told his defenders to give Harry a "welcome" to the Championship and Harry brushed off the intimidation.
  8. We are out of games we can afford not to win. This has to be 3 points in the bag. Hull have improved a lot so it won't be a stroll in the park.
  9. I was referring to how the results went today for us in the Championship. Commented about the Huddersfield game on the Huddersfield thread and yes we should have run out easy winners but for Huddersfield hitting the jackpot twice with their only first half attempts of note.
  10. We got very fortunate again today. Just about the only club with an inferior goal difference drew level with us. And Bolton dropped two pints to a last minute equaliser...
  11. Fabulous game, great come back. Unfortunately, I would swap the entertainment for the 3 points... A team to be proud of and Pears getting unfair flak for their two goals- the first in particular was a great reaction to Morton getting a boot on the ball just in front of him. Just the 82% possession, 22 chances and 11 on target..
  12. Millwall Norwich Coventry and PNE all look to be good for 3 points today so we could find ourselves in 9th this evening.
  13. Bolton far from assured of a League 1 play off place. Are you sure about this?
  14. Rovers have to produce a performance from the first minute. No ifs buts or maybes. Mindset is more important than who actually gets picked.
  15. The PL is fabulous for a neutral this season. Less fun if you are in it.
  16. I am reluctant to call it a must win but after losing the must not lose to Norwich this has become a must win.
  17. Handy thread. I know the Jerome Anderson/Steve Keane idiocy Venky's indulged in heaped most of the problems on themselves but Venky's are now down getting on for some 350m including the buy price and contributions. By all means call to boot them out if you can find someone else with 350m they can invest/waste/squander over 12 years.
  18. There is very little comparison between the teams- yes a dog shite club has done that but Kompany has worked the loan system to total perfection. What the dingles money grubbing owners do next season is a very open quiestion.
  19. Talk about big club bias. Had I been de Zerbi, I would have clocked the fourth official, not the opposition Manager.
  20. Did you see the Boro defending? Even Rovers would have scored at least 4 against them.
  21. Roll over Haaland, there is a Rovers 15 year old coming for your place!
  22. Cannot remove box above but was going to agree the Match Centre wasn't working when suddenly it did so sparing me from the Norwich commentary.. The reason for this post is I have recurrent nightmares with how JRC got caught in two minds when addressing the chip into an empty net early in the second half. Just go for goal man and forget about looking across for Gally.
  23. No matter what side is picked, if we play like we are capable of we will have too much for Huddersfield. If we don't produce a performance, Huddersfield will beat us. It is in our hands...
  24. Massive test of character. If the team that showed up at Bramall Lane shows up, this will be a classic but against a team without the individual flair Sheffield United have.
