I watched it too Tyrone and as you say it's a moving piece. I really enjoyed the present day element where players from both sides met and chatted about the game and the subsequent events. The fans interviews were also enjoyable. And the dulcet tones of Eddie Waring to boot.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52168692 Probably the most feeble excuse I have seen for a long time. Quite frankly they have brought scorn and shame on their organisation and likely the wider football world. I would seriously like to see millions of subscribers closing their Sky Sports package and put fat cats like Taylor out of work.

When the first indications of no football for some time became apparent a few posters on here predicted that big, but changes were afoot and the gravy train was about to hit the buffers. It's happening and the cull of the legions of hangers-on will be one of the first casualties. If anything good comes from this wretched, horrible disease it is that football will be brought into the real world and the winners will be the most important people in the game - fans.

Opinions on Mike Newell

You are correct Lenny. After the celebration game the evening after the title win I was invited into the Premier Suite where the party carried on. Ruddock was in there and as drunk as the rest. He was celebrating like he played for us. -
Thanks Gav. I remember this lad well. He actually ran onto the pitch during the game against Coventry to get the players to sign his shaven head. I often wonder whatever became of him.

I bet they wish they had taken that £25m for Josh King now. They are not the only ones though. ??

It looks like the ball has already started rolling for tv deals. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/premier-league-fearful-multi-billion-21797256

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8177615/Pay-cut-stand-Agents-PFA-advise-stars-against-wages-sacrifice.html Twats like Taylor aren't in the real world. He doesn't realise that the long term damage will be irreparable to many of his members and his comments will turn more away from football as we see families desperately struggling in the current situation. I sincerely hope that when football eventually returns it will signal the start of a sanitisation of what has become an ogre.

How on earth can we play a part and look after them a little bit? The are (allegedly) billionaires. Maybe he is paving the way for an announcement about furloughing staff.

Sky Sports accounts can be paused
arbitro replied to Hasta's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I suspended mine at the weekend. In fairness to Sky they have made it so easy to do but they must be really concerned that significant numbers will not re subscribe when normality returns. For me personally it's a decision I will think long and hard about. -
An excellent article from Jonathan Northcroft. https://refsupport.co.uk/author/mcassidy/

This awful pandemic is really going to hit hard in football over the next few months and the implications will run deep and long. The snouts in the trough as you say should be sanitised as agents, club executives, pundits, overpaid PFA executives and many more are pretty much superfluous and the game can survive without them. Quite simply players earn far too much money with many earning large amounts disproportionate to their ability and the level they play at. There will need to be a real reality check for many. Sponsors are going to be hard to come by as many businesses are struggling. Many fans won't commit to new season tickets (whenever it may be) due to so much uncertainty about their own futures. But the biggest financial effect I believe will be Sky getting hit hard as subscribers cancel or suspend their accounts. I suspended mine yesterday and given that I haven't really missed live tv football yet I will give serious consideration to cancelling it permanently. The next few months will be the most testing that football has seen for decades. I think it's inevitable that some will go to the wall sadly.

Just got round to watching these and the sense of pride is immense. Thanks Herbie - just what the doctor ordered ??.

Our new signing Con Gratulations in the middle of the right side. ?? Some are easier than others with their squad number (23, 18, 31 and1) but many are not clear. I think Rothwell is on the right centre.

Rovers in Netflix football series
arbitro replied to AllRoverAsia's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
In the absence of real football I have binged on this and it's quite an enjoyable watch. I would sack the researchers though. One of the two Scots who came down to play for Darwen referred to himself as 'a Darwenite'. Surely everybody knows we are Darreners. ???. And Blackburn playing in a claret coloured shirt (or did that really happen). Sacrilege if not true. -
There are different categories of football fans and the one I would personally be worried about are ones who simply find that they aren't missing it. I fear that new season tickets will be on sale well before another ball is kicked and I feel that some current season ticket holders simply won't bother renewing. Then there is the question of cost as the disposable income of many will disappear. If ever there was a time to review the price of watching football it is now. Either way it's going to be a testing time for football in ten of which the vast majority have never seen before.

RIP Peter and sincere condolences to his family. Football seems insignificant sometimes and we all need perspective occasionally.

One real unknown for me in these unprecedented circumstances is will supporters lose interest and find other things to do with their time. At the moment it would be three weeks football free but the opinion seems to be that it will be much longer. As a club we have lost a lot of fans who originally boycotted but many have lost complete interest in the club (and football) and do other things with their money. We really are in uncharted waters here from many perspectives and for lots of clubs it could be the sounding of the death knell. The EFL are simply making interest free loans available and whilst that will cover the short term the bigger picture is extremely worrying.
-
There is no review on them dates, that at the moment is when the competitions are due to recommence. Friday 3rd is specifically mentioned because there is an EFL game scheduled for that day. We there been a Premier League match scheduled for that day then that is the date they would have given. There are meetings scheduled for next week when further announcements will be made.
-
At the moment the Leeds game is on subject to further announcements.
-
At the moment the games definitely off are Bristol City at home, Wigan away and Barnsley away.
-
https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2020/march/statement-coronavirus-update/ The statement direct off the Rovers website. The one-day discrepancy between the PL and EFL (April 4th and April 3rd) is to factor in our game against Leeds.

Whilst it's disappointing and the ramifications could seriously damage clubs already struggling financially it is the right decision. The FA, EFL and PL should make money available to get the club's in peril through this tough period. Looking even further how can FFP still be applied when clubs will have to rely on benevolent owners of loans even more. It could be the start of the implosion many have been predicting albeit in extenuating circumstances. It will also be interesting to see how many Sky Sports subscribers who only watch football now cancel for a month.
