  1. Williams has become a bit of a conundrum for most of us and probably includes Mowbray. At left back he was average at best but he has excelled at centre half and been our best player over the last half dozen or so games. If we get a couple of decent centre backs he would slip down the order but maybe his form has caused Mowbray to have a rethink on recruitment in that position.
  2. I think any football club would have seriously questioned the manager after a run of one win in eleven (which included nine defeats) John. The points total is decent but let's assume the bad run came through August, September and October instead of towards the end of the season when we were quite safe. I do believe Mowbray (or any manager) would have been sacked then. Going forward he has identified areas of improvement which most have seen as weak for some time. I really hope he can bring in the right players to eradicate the concession of soft goals. He can't afford to waste money on any more Gladwins or Whittinghams. He needs more Dacks and Rothwells.
  3. Reporter driven by the imposter jock hack.
  4. I thought the game today summed up our season. We started strongly, tailed off and finished well. My main disappointment about not winning is that Nobbers finish above us. Our main problem of conceding cheap goals was once again apparent as two poor crosses ended up in our net. I know Lenihan slipped for the second but that aside there wasn't a Rovers player within three yards of him. Davenport was good and reminded me of Reed with his stature and work rate. This summer is Mowbray's most important period in charge for me. The signings have to be right and in the correct areas. If not then we could be in for a long season, if he does then we can kick on. Over to you Mogga.
  5. He could be another one we have to pay up to terminate his contract or send him out on loan and subsidise his wages.
  6. If Bassini tries to enter the Forest boardroom today the security have been told to refuse him entry according to Mark Iles of Bolton News.
  7. They have a really nice ground and training facilities but as you say Jim a succession of Bassini types have been allowed to get involved and the result is non league football. I remember a player for them called Paul Deviln who was decent. He had a pet snake which he called Derek after the then chairman Derek Pavis.
  8. It's typical Nixon and the way he steals a living peddling nonsense. He knows we are after a keeper, he knows Hart will be available. In Nixon's world 2+2 equals 5.
  9. At his best he was an average Championship player. Giving him a new contract shouldn't be on Mowbray's agenda. If we are to progress we simply have to bring betting players in. I will be disappointed if he gets a new deal.
  10. I'm absolutely with you on this. They sacked good honest people and let charlatans run the club. Several times. I will never be beholden to them for the damage they have caused. I believe the damage to be irreparable.
  11. If you send them to LTalbot@rovers.co.uk and ask her to forward to Steve Waggott. Lynsey is the supporter liaison.
  12. I hope the club has listened/read what fans have said about season tickets and prices. Now hopefully there is a real marketing of these all over the county. New signings will help so I really hope we have some in place before the deadline for anybody who might be wavering.
  13. And Brentford have been awarded a one nil win. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48151016
  14. I have had a couple of chats with him now Andy and my distinct impression is that he understands we all want the same thing and to give us the best shot of doing so we have to listen to each other and take on board what is said. In the grand scheme of things this is a drop in the ocean but I would absolutely encourage anybody who has a grievance to contact him and take it from there.
  15. I had a conversation with Steve Waggott this morning about the free coach travel for supporters but nothing for people who arrange their own travel. My suggestion in an earlier email was that in the interests of fairness to everybody there should have been an across the board reduction in the ticket price. He accepted my point and said that would be a fairer way of rewarding the loyalty of regular away supporters irrespective of how they travel. He assured me that should the situation arise again a fairer system would be used. He welcomed my suggestion and said he is always prepared to listen to concerns and ideas. Interestingly he also said he is trying to get other Championship clubs to a 'twenty's plenty' type of scheme where reciprocal deal can be agreed although he said it would be better if every club signed up to such an agreement.
  16. What a complete, unadulterated mess. The EFL don't come out of this with too much credit. They have allowed Bassini to string them along and showed themselves to be weak. How much more can their fans take.
  17. And the PFA charge an extortionate interest rate for any loans they make (or at least have done in the past).
  18. With the Lancashire Cup Final scheduled for Tuesday I'd be surprised if Mowbray starts more than a couple of young 'uns. Conway will probably get some game time if it's to be his last game for us.
  19. The figure of 1200 was what I was told but they only go on sale to Rovers season ticket holders from today. I don't know the selling process that lot are using.
  20. I have it on good authority that as of yesterday 1200 had been sold. I also heard that only one turnstile is being used with a heavy police presence there to prevent trouble. There will be segregation inside but I don't know where we will be. Car parking might be a problem and I was advised to park away from the ground.
  21. So Bassini met Harvey tonight to provide proof of funding and Harvey has given him another 48 hours. He's running rings around them and they can't see it. And they are in court again on May 8th for unpaid taxes which has been adjourned umpteen times.
  22. I agree that this convention of kicking the ball out to allow treatment has got ridiculous but on this occasion I have some sympathy with Villa. Not long before the incident Villa put the ball out for a Leeds player so I think the sporting thing to do was reciprocate. Also it looked like a Leeds player slowed down with the ball giving the impression he was going to kick the ball out. He then sped up and Leeds scored from his pass. Bielsa for me comes out with great credit.
  23. That's exactly why I have stressed it's down to opinion. Clearly the referee thought Williams could have made up the ground to cover Lenihan. From my vantage point I didn't think he would.
  24. The referee has to factor all the information available to him at the time before making his decision but he has to be sure that the covering defender would have got around to make the challenge. He clearly did think Williams would. I didn't. As I said it's down to opinion.
  25. In many, many years of being involved in football I've never seen anything like that. Jansson was defying his manager by trying to stop Villa scoring. And Bamford should be banned for three games for his embarrassing play acting.
