  2. I don't doubt his passion but when it came to hard hitting and searching questions of managers I thought he was very weak. Too many managers got off lightly in my opinion.
  3. I believe that for recent league meetings between us and them the planning starts months in advance with meetings between both clubs and police. Given the short notice I wonder if the normally rigid travel arrangements might be relaxed as they were for the FA Cup replay over a decade ago. I would love Rovers to restrict the ticket allocation to them to a bare minimum whatever that is. Last time we went there we only got just over half of the Shittyfield End but that was a league game. As somebody said earlier the pound signs will be lighting up in Chestons eyes.
  4. The balls in the microwave certainly worked that day. For the first FA Cup final at the 'new' Wembley why would they want Rovers or Watford there.
  5. Winning is the most important thing in every game. Dig below that though and we did look really susceptible at the back particularly in the first half when Raya made a couple of smart saves. I am far from convinced by three at the back. One of the main differences between Saturday and last night was the width we had going forward. The passing was a lot better than at Southend. Mulgrew hurt himself early on and carried on for much of the game although he went straight down the tunnel when he was substituted for treatment. Coventry were decent but the third goal killed them off and spared us the agony of extra time for what was a road work Laden drive home.
  6. I don't understand Twitter and hacking. Are you saying that Dack actually sent these or somebody else did using his account to make it look like he wrote them.
  7. Exactly right, winning is a great habit. However I think Mowbray will make wholesale changes as he seems to be influenced by what is in vogue like fancy systems, squad rotation and resting players. All nonsense in my opinion. Another defeat tomorrow irrespective of who he plays could really damage us.
  8. If you hadn't finished your bad shift and gone home early due to an injury (which could well have been aggravated by not resting it) then no.
  9. He went off injured on Saturday with a tight hamstring which will only have been aggravated by spending several hours in a nightclub, maybe standinot around or even dancing. He should have travelled back with the team and had treatment first thing yesterday. Have we signed another wrong 'un.
  10. I watched the Bolton game yesterday and in the build up they listed a series of restrictions imposed on them due to their perilous financial state. The one that struck me is that they are only allowed to pay players up to £4.5k per week. I assume this applies to new signings and new contracts. They are not allowed to make season long loans and only have a 23 man squad. Seems that fourth from bottom will be a success for our friends from Horwich.
  11. An interesting article below conducted by the FSA. The PL spokesman comments are typical of how out of touch the authorities are. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40809479
  12. I remember talking to an Accrington Stanley director a few years ago when they were playing at Macclesfield. I asked him about a young striker who seemed decent. He told me the player was on £120 per week basic and bonuses were only earned when he was in the first team. I always think of that young lad (I can't remember his name) when I see some of the fees and wages of today's players.
  13. What is incredible to me is that clubs are actually prepared to pay obscene amounts to these people. I harbour real hope that the whole thing implodes at the top level and some of the big clubs go to the wall. I read today that Neymar will earn £650k per week tax free. These ridiculous fees and wages are likely to increase year on year. How long before we have a player earning £1m per week?
  14. I really regret posting that now, I do, I do, I do, I do.
  15. A new system for a penalty shootout in the Carabao Cup called the ABBA system. Presumably the winner takes it all. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40783273
  16. But you can't just have a mass clear out after promotion because some players might be deemed not good enough. Of course a club will need to strengthen its squad but this is done gradually. For most promoted clubs from any league the objective must be consolidation before kicking on. A two year deal is about right and gives benefits to both parties.
  17. Before last week I doubt if any of us could give any kind of appraisal on Smallwood (or even heard of him) but now we have detailed analysis of him and a high number of fans have already written him off. Step forward the new Jason Lowe, Keith Andrews, Jason Wilcox et al.

  19. I just hope he hasn't got the Murphy attitude of I'm too good for this league. League One is physical and most clubs play with intensity and a bad attitude will stand out like a sore thumb. He certainly has ability though and harnessed correctly could be the difference between winning and losing.
  20. I have faith in Mowbray and under our ridiculous circumstances is absolutely the best we could hope for but there are far too many variables in football to simply say he has to win eight of the first ten games. Given the numerous past lies and broken promises from the Indians the chances are they will do it again. We will be lucky if an honourable man like Mowbray is still here after ten games.
  21. That is some ask. I don't believe that would be asked of any manager anywhere with the threat of the sack if they didn't do it. Targets like that in football have never made any sense to me. What if he won 7, drew 1 and lost 2, would you still sack him?
  22. I once heard a comedian say he went to the Wailing Wall and couldn't get near it for Burnley fans. I guess that is now us.
  23. I don't know where they sat. I saw them outside the ground about 2.10 pm.
  24. I don't want to say but he was with his son and daughter and his son was proudly wearing his Rovers shirt.
