Hypothetically if they'd been caught by surprise by our form up to January and decided to wait and see how it all played out then I don't think it's a particularly unreasonable stance to take. If however the position was he was leaving at the end of the season no matter what (which I think it was) but no succession planning has taken place behind the scenes that puts a far more serious slant on the situation than Mowbray being a bit hard done to.

I'm not sure why I have to point it out but being on the edge of the play offs is an abject failure when you had a ten point cushion to seventh in mid to late January. The question the journalists would be better served posing is "why wasn't he sacked in time to salvage the season?"

The big difference for me is QPR are definitely out of the play offs whilst we still have a very slender chance. Once we are mathematically out of it I wouldn't be surprised to hear a similar sort of announcement coming out of Ewood.

What "current financial situation" is that then? The one whereby the owners top up our income every year to the maximum level allowable under the FFP regulations? I agree I could see the sense in waiting to see where we end up IF that is the reason he hasn't been told anything. I didn't intend the word "tolerant" in this context as a compliment - I meant tolerant towards him. If it had been up to me I'd have fired him after poor performances and results at various points in each of the last 4 seasons.

For someone who claims he isn't bothered about his contractual situation, Mowbray doesn't half get his mates at the LT to flag it up on a regular basis to court sympathy. Now he seems to be trying to get everyone to feel sorry for him by announcing it looks like he'll be leaving etc. Well get the violins out - instead of cracking on he's been hard done by, he should be musing on the fact that he's been remarkably lucky to work for such tolerant owners who for some unknown reason have allowed him to limp unsatisfactorily to the end of his contract whereas at most Clubs he'd have been gone long ago. Mowbray being worse than Kean were words that were incorrectly attributed to me by Matty who I generally agre with on all things Rovers related. I was just comparing and contrasting my own personal feelings with those of Jimmy. To summarise my position I wouldn't attribute any credit whatsoever to either Kean or Mowbray. I think my additional animosity towards Mowbray stems from the fact he's been here so much longer than he who must not be named. The cackhanded and not very subtle attempt by the Coventrio to try and repeat their shenanigans and get Brockhall flogged off was also a massive turning point for me. You're right people's memories don't go back far enough, a lot of supporters now don't remember the days pre Jack, pre Walker Trust, pre Venky's when we didn't have the proverbial pot to widdle in yet various managers here performed with greater distinction than Mowbray ever could. Part of the problem is he is held up against the likes of Coyle or people who were only five minutes and gets an easy ride because of it.

As I see it in Kean's time we were struggling at the bottom of the Premier League and latterly near the top of the Championship. In general during Mowbray's time we've been struggling in the bottom half of the Championship despite around £90m worth of investment from the owners during his woeful 5 year tenure. And with things likely to get worse next season due to the state he'll be leaving us in assuming he goes. Don't misrepresent what I said. Didn't say Kean was no harm done at all. I'd be interested to hear why Mowbray (who at the end of the day is from the same stable as Kean, albeit rebadged under a different name) is any better though.
