  1. Played much better than last week but ruined half an hour's good work by being unprofessional and not closing Cairney down for the goal. On the downside once again we have yet to work the opposition keeper. Still think Gallagher is terrible and imo Armstrong has been poor on the right wing given the time and opportunities he's had. Dack has looked a lot keener and looks our main chance of something happening.
  2. So do I. With the exception of Dack and Travis the "first" team looks awful.
  3. Agreed Have said all summer I'd take survival now. Even more so after this window but it might take a change of manager mid season to secure that imo.
  4. You may not agree but I don't think the owners have done anything at all wrong since we were relegated last time round. In fact (tin hat on) you might say they've acted impeccably since then continuing to pump money in to cover losses and providing the manager with a generous budget. Mowbray has just wasted it on rubbish or players he won't subsequently play. Don't like this Mowbray/Waggott/Venus love triangle though with the former first team assistant coach apparently now handling transfer negotiations.
  5. Probably not, I wouldn't do that anyway. The option would be simply not to bother attending certain games as another poster pointed out.
  6. You can be as facetious as you like yet no-one came into replace Mulgrew therefore that does not suggest the move was long in the planning.
  7. Wow, just wow. Now the window has slammed shut are we finally allowed to say what an abomination it was? Or will someone chirp up and say "Don't be daft, you can't judge it until we see who he brings in from the our of contract market.?" I've had to give myself 24 hours to calm down a bit before commenting fully on the window, if I think about it too much it too much it'll send my blood pressure rocketing and make me ill. For me Waggott should be packing his bags today closely followed by Mowbray if as I expect we are rooted to the bottom of the table after ten games or so. So the day before the window closes, everyone was more or less unanimous that unless we got at least one experienced CB in, then it would have been a terrible window and TM would have failed. So what happens? No CB's in and two out! I'd say there's nothing wrong with letting Mulgrew go per se, but only as a planned exercise once you have secured a better replacement. Not as a result of a row and a hissy fit barely an hour before the window shuts! The fact that the two young lads had already both been foolishly allowed to go out on loan, also gravitated against Mulgrew leaving without a replacement. As stupid as Mowbray has made himself look this window, I can't believe even he intended to leave us with one CB and a utility lad from City. So where has this shambles off a window left us? Attack - well stocked in terms of numbers but arguably having spent 15m over the last 12 months there still isn't a decent striker between them! I think Graham is past it and Gallagher is fairly useless frankly. Armstrong has proved very hit and miss at this level and would probably benefit from playing down the middle. I think Brereton could be the best of them but for some unknown reason the manager won't give him a proper chance in the correct position. I think yet again we'll be hugely reliant on Dack rediscovering his mojo and scoring enough goals to keep us afloat. Midfield: Arguably only one decent CM in Travis. Johnson may be ok for a season or two but for me needs to get a lot fitter, stop playing within himself and start taking games by the scruff of the neck. Evans and Smallwood still in the building clogging up the wage bill and blocking the youngsters. The promising Rothwell and Chapman can hardly get a game. Defence: Where to start here? We've let 4 CB's go out this summer and arguably we've only brought in 2 full backs. In the eyes of the manager Bennett also seemingly has to be shoehorned into the side in front of arguably our most promising young player (at least before Mowbray started messing him about and dropping him) Nyambe. An absolute disgrace. Keeper: On the evidence of Saturday, Looks a down grade on Raya and isn't even our player. In nearly 50 years of watching us, don't think I can recall us going into a season with a loanee as our first choice keeper. Given all of the above, 69 goals conceded might be looking good come the end of this season. I've rarely been as upset with what's going on on and off the pitch as I am at present. If Mowbray were to stay all season with this squad and play all his usual favourites I honestly think we'd struggle to get 30 points. Hopefully it would never come to that as he'd be quickly replaced if we get off to a shocker but who knows given the manager more or less appointed his boss? Rant over, blood pressure through roof.
  8. Getting his excuses in early I see. I'm going down to this to see a mate who lives near London and have a good night out. After last Saturday I've mentally written off the game and am expecting an unmitigated disaster. Anything else will be a bonus.
  9. Think we have to hope it does now, it would be awkward beyond belief if having basically bombed him out of the Club, the player is forced to return until January. We'd almost have to pay him to sit at home. Amateur hour doesn't even begin to describe it.
  10. I don't doubt the wage bill was full to bursting. However Mowbray brought this entirely on himself by unnecessarily handing out new deals to the likes of Graham, Evans, Bennett, Smallwood, Mulgrew, and replacing the superfluous Conway with the even older and presumably more expensive Downing.
  11. Don't be silly. Going for a world class player and failing to land them is not humiliating. Competing at a much lower level in the market for run of the mill players and identifying your main targets but consistently failing to land them like Bauer and Hanley is.
  12. No reason to suggest there's any truth to the latest Hanley rumours from what I can gather. He's also in the Norwich squad for their game against Liverpool tomorrow night.
  13. Dear God. What difference does it make if Tosin has only been in the building a week? It's not like he just stepped off a long haul flight an hour ago. If he's good enough, play him. If he isn't why did we bother signing him? As regards the second para you could probably add the caveat "but they also know I will look after them and therefore won't do anything about it".
  14. Errrm.......got news for you Tony. Neither can your favoured inner circle! And at least if the youngsters got the chance and experience under their belt now, they might be able to do so in future.
  15. I just can't bear to listen to the b.s. spouted by Mowbray any longer, it's quite painful. However in his desperation to make it sound like something's happening, he's tripped himself up. He's more or less said that the deals you'd been working on all summer sometimes go out of the window because something even better unexpectedly comes up. Insinuating either original deal or unexpected deal will happen. Going to look very silly indeed when nothing happens. (Not that a deal you'd been working on all summer would go to the last hour of the transfer window anyway)
  16. Can probably throw in a heart rending sob story about being "close" to pulling off several deals as well. Tomorrow however he will no doubt declare himself happy with what he's got and say that whilst it would have been nice to bring in extra bodies to "help" those already here, he's not that bothered about it.
  17. Yep, we're desperately short of centre halves, it's time for Magloire and Wharton to step up and stake their claim, and we send them both out on loan. Barking doesn't even begin to describe it imo.
  18. Still peddling the "improving the squad" and bringing in players to "help" line though. You'd think the inner circle that were here when Mowbray was appointed had won Premier League's and Champions Leagues so reluctant is he to replace them. Not got us relegated from the League we're currently in then finished a lowly 15th.
  19. Hard to disagree with any of that. The last two summer transfer windows since Waggott arrived (and even the January one) have been an absolute shambles imo.
  20. The question wasn't directed at me but for me every day day of the week!. Of course we don't know if there's a release clause in Dack's contract which ties our hands. If there isn't we shouldn't even be bothering to pick up the phone at that price. The only thing that would worry me about this was Dack looked so demotivated on Saturday, he might have thought something was in the offing before the deadline.
  21. The last I heard, we couldn't agree on either wages or length of contract so I'd be amazed if it is on. If however it is then one of the parties must have had a major climbdown. I heard that amongst other things he wanted a 3 year deal and we were only prepared to offer two so if he comes on loan or permanently for two years or less then presumably his options weren't as good as he expected. If he comes in on a 3 year deal presumably we'll have backed down. Will believe it when I see it.
  22. Bennett has no pros at RB. You keep trying to muddy the waters saying previously it's not easy to sign players etc and now you're saying this isn't a straightforward choice. It's not a difficult choice or decision at all. Nyambe isn't perfect but is the better player in that position by a country mile. It's not even close therefore the only logical inference to be drawn is that the manager is unreasonably favouring certain players. Weird you don't think Bell is good enough when again whilst he isn't perfect he is infinitely better than Bennett at FB. Imo our priorities should be 1) Ensure Bennett never plays at FB again (or preferably anywhere else for that matter) and restore Nyambe at RB. 2) Nasty experienced CB 3) If the budget allows after 2) above, a LB. If anyone does come in at this late stage, can't see them being of the quality required, will probably just be dregs that other Clubs don't want.
  23. Yep, what a load of bolloxios from Waggott. Roughly translates as "If me and Tone can convince the owners all this **** is part of some long term plan then we should be able to get four or five years out of it before they realise we're going nowhere, and by that time we (If not the Club) will be secure financially." Wonder how they'll spin it if we get relegated again this season?
  24. Agree about Dack. When firing he's in a completely different class to everyone else. We saw a couple of glimpses of it yesterday but in general he didn't seem up for it. We need to find a way of getting him fully fit, motivated and firing again. Whether that would require a more expansive manager, who knows?
