  1. That's a very specific piece of knowledge, which raises questions that I'm not sure I want the answers to.
  2. I had it on in the background, as I did a bit of work on the laptop - I think I must have glanced at the telly 3-4 times in the 90 minutes. Dreadful, turgid stuff. Outside of major tournaments, international football is the absolute pits.
  3. I'd have never agreed in a million years prior to this window. But as we've managed 7-figure fees for JRC, Buckley and another one that skips my memory, it's plausible that we could con someone into paying a million for Calamity.
  4. I think Wahlstedt and Ennis can be seen as flops, but the rest certainly not. And even then, we made no financial loss on either. Hirst and Telalovic didn't do it for us, but they've gone on to bigger and better things; the potential was clearly there. Szmodics, Tronstad and Hyam don't need explaining - all 3 of them have won our POTY trophy since being here. And, as you say, O'Riordan is showing a lot of potential out on loan, so we can't make a real judgement either way on him right now. You'd be reaching (at best) if you were trying to make out that Broughton's transfer record was more shit than good.
  5. Surprisingly decent 2nd half, but that 2nd goal was always a possibility. Feel we've been unlucky in those first 2 home (league) games and didnt' really deserve to lose either. But, football is a game of momentum and form and you can't get into a losing habit. Regroup after the international break, see who we bring in before the close of the window and hopefully start to pick up some wins.
  6. Park up on the Fernhurst / Oakdale estate - keep off the double yellows and don't cause any obstructions and there's lots of free parking on a nice, safe estate. Half a mile walk to the stadium and easy access to the M65 afterwards.
  7. No, the opposite - he makes a point of saying 'I can't take any credit for him, other than involving him in first team training', more than once.
  8. Well, at the moment, his salary is £0.
  9. I listened to this on the drive home from work tonight. He's a nice guy, undoubtedly - and he did a good job of reversing the death spiral we were on, following relegation. But, by his own admission, he prioritised player harmony and relationships over winning and actively chose not to ask for more funds from the owners, when we were 2nd in the league (mid way through the season). Which is pretty unforgivable, in my opinion.
  10. Please make this happen, it would be hilarious. But even Eustace appears to have had enough of Calamity at the back end of his tenure here - I'm not sure he'd even go with this, despite his fetish of all things Rovers.
  11. I think, with whatever money is left in the budget(!), we need to throw it at a young, talented Prem forward who needs a season in the Championship. I'm not overly familiar with all things Prem these days, but there must be one who fits that profile. No idea on whether Morishita is any good or not, hadn't heard of him before yesterday. But the Polish fans being devastated at him being sold is a promising sign.
  12. I'm sure the club advised of a c£5m budget this summer - and we've spent just under that, so far. Maybe Travis leaving has finally freed up a bit of additional funds.
  13. I think most of the frustration from Rovers fans were down to us believing that there was a player in there - he just never seemed to grow out of the unnecessary stepovers and pivots. Had he stuck to the basics and worked harder on things like crossing and finishing, he'd be much higher rated. However, hopefully a fresh start for him will help him kick on.
  14. Hard to disagree with this. He clearly had high standards and, if you didn't either buy into that and work hard, or didn't have the talent, you were out. Players like Szmodics and Wharton thrived - both of whom have spoken publicly in positive terms about JDT's influence on their development. If we'd have backed him and Broughton properly, we wouldn't be pissing around in the Championship still now.
  15. If we get a similar performance to Hull, we'll beat them quite comfortably. But, as ever with Rovers, we're never quite sure what we're going to get.
  16. My concern with any player signing for Derby to link up with Eustace, is that he can't hold a job down for longer than 18-24 months, so they'll not have long with him before he jumps ship to his next job.
  17. Way to miss the point. Both have/had long hair and wore hair bands. One has been criticised for it, the other hasn't. ROFL.
  18. Completely agree - even when the output wasn't coming off for him, he's always worked really hard whilst he's been here. I suspect some have preconceived ideas/opinions of TC, based on what they've read from Rangers fans / etc. I even read a derogatory comment on here the other day about him wearing a hairband. Like it ever mattered when Tugay wore one.
  19. We've seen flashes, but he's absolutely been inconsistent. He's been excellent in the last 2 (today particularly so). It would seem that the armband suits him. If he can perform like that on a consistent basis this season, we finish in the top half as a minimum.
  20. Outstanding performance, really pleased with that. Hull couldn't handle the press and the work we put in was rewarded. I've been one of Cantwell's biggest fans since he signed, but today is the marker for future performances. The armband suits him. Toth and the back 4 all solid - the highest compliment I can pay Ryan A is that we haven't missed Brittain at all. Tronstad at his best, Ohashi deserved his goal and Hedges was excellent as well. Very, very good.
  21. That's not something to shout about, to be fair. And I agree with the points already made on this - it's a different world now. Whilst we all care dearly about the football club, we all have careers and/or much to lose at the risk of arrest / etc. A different approach is needed - and in traction - in the modern day.
  22. Derby look atrocious - they've regressed badly since last season. Bristol look pretty handy also, some clever play.
  23. I read the Bloxham message as 'glad you made it out to the US', rather than out of the club. But with how the club is run now, could easily be either.
  24. This. And the most worrying thing is that this wasn't just a one-off mistake, he makes them regularly. When you throw his positional deficiencies into the mix, it just baffles me how he's played so many games for us. Being a decent shot shopper just isn't enough for a GK at this level, you need to have a rounded level of general competence - and Pears just doesn't have it. As a backup to Toth, I don't mind too much. But I would much prefer Michalski to get the opportunity to play our cup and occasional league matches (unless a decent loan can be found for him).
  25. In fairness, his regular howlers and general incompetence at goalkeeping probably played a part. Just his error in the Sheffield Weds home game alone; you wouldn't expect a non-league GK to do that. I like to believe that VI came in, assessed what he saw and quickly came to the realisation that he had to get the waste of space out of the building as quickly as possible. An England Youth GK is not a bad number 2, on balance.
