Genuinely I think being the manager of rovers is one of the best gigs going. You have a fan base that won’t really turn on you (odd grumble walking away from the ground). Owners that don’t know enough or care enough to drive high standards. But if they like you and/or your wife they’ll back you in the transfer market. You can decide for yourself what constitutes success. You have the ability to hire and/or promote your superiors. Haha. I’ve never thought of the Venkys owning us as like a gym membership to them but I think it’s probably quite accurate. Start off with good intentions, know the money is coming out but it’s too insignificant to cancel. They might even get the odd bank statement and wonder what a Brereton is and why they’ve spent £7 million on it. I genuinely believe the only reason they haven’t pulled the plug on us is they’re too lazy to be bothered and the money they pump in isn’t significant enough to lose any sleep over.

You’ll also hear it’s a tight division there’s at least 10 teams who could challenge for the top 6. We’ll be right up there if we put together back to back wins, well 3 wins, well 4 wins, well 5 wins... Then if we’re lucky enough to succumb to mid table mediocrity you’ll hear this was a transitional season cementing our championship status again. All the while qpr have transformed fortunes and past us over a summer. Preston are competing with no budget.

Wales can count themselves lucky. If it wasn't for that card they wouldn't have edged in front. You couldn't get a more French performance than this. Some brilliance, some terrible decisions, some basic errors. Wales have been nowhere near as good today. But if it was against england, they'd be out of the traps like greyhounds. Really galls me.

I think there’s an international break after Leeds and before Barnsley. Could be the time to pull the trigger. Particularly if only pick up a couple of points in next 4 games.

This is the most chilling continuing legacy of the Venkys. Just like bowyer when we can see a guys done all he can there is the terror of what they’ll do. We’ve got a plethora of problems that I’ve lost faith in Tony being able to fix. But one less important but easy fix is bloody goal music.
