  1. A bizarre take really, we just need the best manager for the job. Their nationality means very little.
  2. Yeah, pretty funny really that pre-tournament everyone was putting out a proposed midfield/attack and saying "What's stopping England winning the Euro's with this attacking lineup?" And now it's the defence that's stepped up and attack that's letting us down. And Cole Palmer is glued to the bench.
  3. Oh yeah, Walker is miles better than TAA, I agree. Just saying if he has to play, he needs to play RB but I'd start Walker ahead of him. Saka has to start on the right but Foden has been poor on the left. His best work comes when he is behind the striker. Don't think Bowen, Gordon or Eze are top level players but if they are more natural wide players than Foden (not sure if they all are) then they will surely be more effective than shoehorning a player on the left foe the sake of it.
  4. Another poor performance from England and Southgate has some real decisions to make. As expected, the TAA experiment failed spectacularly for the 2nd game running, the lad is no where near a top level CM. We are also down to the classic England conundrum, where we have a group of talented players and are desperate to shoehorn them into the starting 11, purely because we feel we have to, despite it being detrimental to the team overall. He's got to pick either Foden or Bellingham for the role behind Harry Kane. Saka on the right with one of Eze, Bowen or Gordon on the left to give an effective outlet on that wing. Mainoo or Wharton (obviously backing Wharton here) alongside Rice and drop TAA (or play him at RB) Not taking a fit LB is looking to be a poor decision from Southgate, Tripper has done OK but nothing more really. He needs to make some big decisions for the rest of the tournament or I suspect we'll be on our way home after the first round of knockout games.
  5. I have absolutely no doubts about that tbh.
  6. I mean if Steve K**n comes anywhere near this football club again, I'll literally stop supporting Rovers.
  7. I'll be very surprised of we spend more than £1m this summer (not including U21 signings)
  8. Good luck to him, suffered some horrific injuries. Let's hope he can stay clear of injuries and have a future in the game.
  9. There's no reason we shouldn't be spending good money but there is definitely a reason why we won't!
  10. Potential sales of Szmodics, Travis, Carter, Dolan and Gallagher. Might as well stick us in league one now.
  11. I'm of the same opinion. Came in did a good job but we need to move on.
  12. I do agree on Kane there. He wasn't great overall but he did use his experience and know how to win us free kicks to take the pressure off when needed. I don't watch a lot of Chelsea admittedly but I am yet to see Connor Gallagher have a good game.
  13. Bellingham is our only actual world class player. He's going to be ridiculous in a few years time. Some really poor performances tonight, Kane, TAA & Foden in particular. Rice did the work of 2 players for the majority and had a decent game and Guehi was impressive.
  14. Oh look Trent has been subbed off. What a surprise. Gallagher on though 🤦‍♂️
  15. Trippier has done better than expected in fairness. The idea was that TAA was a better a better full back than tripier, so if we have to play someone out of position might as well be the better one. TAA isn't a centre mid and even with total bias towards Wharton, England would be better off with him in midfield than TAA. Also, no one is panicking, people are just pointing out the obvious.
  16. If we are playing a right footer at left back, I'd have started TAA. A centre mid, he is not.
  17. TAA starts in midfield and Trippier starts LB 🤦‍♂️ FFS Southgate.
  18. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2024/june/14/rovers-confirm-key-appointments/ Park and Rudy confirmed appointments. Park is head of recruitment and Rudy is head of football operations.
  19. Of course there are Chaddy, he managed just 3 wins (one of which was against a hungover Leicester) in 16 games. Failed to beat any of our relegation rivals and took our championship survival to the very last game and got incredibly lucky that Leicester were already champions. And we put in some absolute horror show performances against Bristol and Sheff Wed (an absolute mist win at the time) along the way.
  20. There are question marks about Eustace's managerial ability and if he signs Ruddy/keeps faith with Pears, it will just add more black marks against his name.
  21. You can't really "get by" with below average players in any position on the pitch at this level, as others teams will just exploit that weakness. The squad needs a ton of work with the goalkeeper and attackers at the forefront of those requirements. If we don't adress both positions we'll be at the bottom of the table again, like last season where we had Pears in net but also the Championship leading goalscorer and very nearly went down.
  22. Even if you overlook his major howlers, he's just a poor goalkeeper generally. Doesn't command his area or his defence, poor on Crosses, weak. He'll have the odd good game, as do most footballers but they are one offs. He's a reasonable shot stopper for the most part but he can even be really weak on those as well (see the Ipswich goal in the 0-1 defeat)
  23. He is not a No.1 goalkeeper, certainly not at this level. He'd be a reasonable No.2, playing the odd game when required. Thanks for making me watch those highlights again. Not having that at all, the pass was fine and the nearest Sheff Wed player was miles away. He could have taken a touch if needed. Edit: even if you mean Hyam was under pressure, the pass was still fine. Absolutely no excuses for Pears on this one.
