  1. No, it's a great example, that was the first thing I thought of when I read your previous post. Sentiment can't stand in the way of progress in football
  2. Szmodics, who would walk into our starting 11, was on the bench for them in their last game. Which shows you what we are up against. I think we'll get beat 0-1, but we'll push them all the way.
  3. Do you not see with this self imposed wage cap, we'll never progress as a club? Our better players will always leave for more money and it's not to clubs in the Premier League anymore, it's Boro, Derby and Wrexham. This set up will inevitably lead us to another relegation to League One.
  4. That was more my angle, both teams have invested a lot or money. There isn't good backing without the expectations that they will do something. How long do you leave it? 10/12 games is a quarter of a season, which is a lot of ground to make up if you leave it that long. Wrexham might be looking at establishing themselves in the division this season but I have no doubts the Birmingham owners have an eye on the PL.
  5. At least the club have now finally admitted the contract offers weren't great for those players. I'd have to watch it again but the interview with BBC Lancs sport he said there was a payrise on offer for Brittain but Travis and Hyam were just offered a 1 year extension to their current terms. So no real effort made to keep our club captain, or our CB who played every minute of last season.
  6. I think both Birmingham and Wrexham will have expected better starts than what they've had. Birmingham in particular will have had an eye promotion, don't think they'll leave it much longer if results don't pick up. Neither will be getting sacked just yet, as both have a lot of credit in the bank but one to keep an eye on for sure. Sheff Utd can only be a couple of losses away at best, before they bin Selles.
  7. How long before Sheff Utd, Wrexham and Birmingham all change their managers? All 3 performing way below expectations, surely?
  8. One outstanding cross field pass (straight onto the foot of the on running Alebiosu) aside, he brought nothing to the game. Corry Evans MK2: 5 yard passes, no tackles, jogs about a bit.
  9. I don't think Taveres and Tronstad work very well as a pairing, as they're both defensive midfielders. Assume Hickman, and later Baradji, were brought in to break up the pairing but you'd be putting Tronstad in ahead of Taveres as it stands right now.
  10. A superb result 👏 Come on!
  11. In other news, Weimann has scored for Derby.
  12. Proper weird sub, leaving Tavares on and taking Tronstad off. Fucking hell Vi
  13. Have we switched to a back 3? Incredibly risky.
  14. Apart from 1 superb crossfield ball to Alebiosu, he's been poor again.
  15. The one downside of Morishita is that he's pretty weak, gets pushed off the ball very easily.
  16. Pleasantly surprised by that first half. Some good football at times, some frustrating football at times. Morishita showing promise, good strike that hit the bar. Hopefully Gudjohnsen gets some time, be good to see what he's about.
  17. You can see the downgrade across the squad there: Hyam > Carter Batth > Wharton Brittain > Alebiosu Travis > Tavares Dolan = Morishita (unknown at this point) Hedges now a starting player.
  18. Sorry to hear about your loss. I think you always think that your parents will be around forever, it hits hard when you lose one. I lost my dad a few years back and it was harder than I ever imagined it would be. It sounds like she's had an incredibly positive impact on you and your family, which is great to hear. Condolences to your and your family.
  19. Probably the former, if Pasha was involved.
  20. Is Carter ready? It's either him or Miller who's been half way around the world, I suppose.
  21. Not seeing this guy till next year then
  22. Diaz returns to being Brereton on the international stage.
  23. A really good performance from England, first time in quite some time i've watched a game and been impressed by what we did. Madueke was superb, a proper winger. Put in the type of performance we've been missing for years. Thought Anderson was superb also, with performances like that, he'll be keeping Wharton waiting a bit longer for a place in the team. Rogers played well, a great option to have going forward. Saka takes Gordon's place and you bring Bellingham back in and we're looking even better. We really need another striker. If Kane is injured/rested we're looking at Watkins, who's a good player but he's not top level and we'll struggle if we need to rely on him for any reasonable length of time. I think Tuchel has to make us greater than the sum of our parts in the main and then use the likes of Kane/Bellingham to grab that vital goal/moment of magic ad we could be onto something. It's 1 performance but it's been badly needed for sooo long.
