  1. A good first season for Yuki, no doubts there. He's also improved on aspects of his game that were lacking when he first joined, his first touch and control was pretty horrific when he joined but he's got up to speed with the league and it's improved a lot. Him getting a proper rest over the summer and a full pre-season with the squad should be good for him. What did we pay, like £200k for him? an absolute bargain.
  2. Charlie Olson was voted Young player of the year at Altrincham, so perhaps he'll get a chance over pre-season?
  3. If I'm being perfectly honest, I don't know the in's and out's of their squad, or what sort of quality (if any) they have. However the owners/board/whoever, have determined that a 14th place finish isn't what they were expecting with the squad they have and so, Cleverley gets the bullet. Unless he's got a starting 11 that is total dross, 5 wins from 25 just isn't good enough and he clearly isn't getting enough out of what he's got.
  4. Providing there are no concerns with his latest injury, he'd be a useful option off the bench but he shouldn't be starting games regularly.
  5. 5 wins in 25? Yeah, fans of any club would be calling for his head. Watford burn through managers but they want instant success. Not sure what giving Cleverley another 25 games will achieve if he only managed 5 wins in his last 25, he ain't turning that around.
  6. Cheers for that, as I said I don't have too much knowledge of the players coming through. I've heard Edmondson and Dunn's names banded about a bit by the club, as well as O'Grady-Macken. The club does spring a few surprises with the youth team retention though, just when you think a player might make it, we release them. Not sure on Markanday, I think he'll possibly only get the nod if we fail to land anyone in the summer but he's already shown he's not good enough for this level, so it would be a disappointing contract renewal. I think Gilsenan will end up following Sam Barne's route. Club obviously rates them but both just injured forever. I reckon we'll release him and he'll have to drop down a few levels to get himself back playing (albeit, there are a few years between them). If we give him another year, it will be last chance saloon for him. Shame, he seemed like a decent player when he did manage to get on the pitch for the 1st team.
  7. According to Gestede in the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast (I finally listened to it 😞 ), the plan is to have 2 players for each position, with a 3rd player being an academy player (where possible). I suspect the club will try and do the following: GK: Toth, Pears, Michalski RB: Brittain, New, Duru CB: Hyam, Carter, Litherland CB: Batth, Wharton, Atcheson, New LB: Riberio, Pickering, New/Unknown from Academy RW: New, New, New/Unknown from Academy CM: Travis, New, Montgomery CM: Tronstad, Forshaw, New/Unknown from Academy LW: Hedges, Kargbo, New/Unknown from Academy AMF: Cantwell, Weimann, Tyjon ST: Ohashi, Gueye, New OUT: JRC, Buckley, Dolan, Vale, Markanday, Garrett, O'Riordan, Batty, Gilsenan, Leonard (on loan) Loans departing: Beck, Woodrow, Sanderson, Cozier-Duberry. I've stuck 6 academy players in there: Michalski, Duru, Litherland, Atcheson, Montgomery & Tyjon and i think we'll add 2 more to the group, I just don't know enough about the academy players to know who's coming through and who isn't but we'll want players coming through on the wings, where we are light on players. We could be fighting to keep hold of Tyjon as a few reports coming about that Man Utd (and others) are looking at taking him off our hands. That leaves us needing: x1 RB x1 CB (as has been mentioned on here and by RG, Wharton won't be rushed) x1 CM x2 RW x1 ST That's the "key positions" RG has mentioned That puts us up to 24 players, with 8 academy players added in.
  8. My expectations aren't high but it will swing from either a relegation battle to midtable depending on the summer business. The plan is just to increase the value of younger players for a future sale, so i'd be looking more towards a relegation battle than anything else right now.
  9. Derby staying up has done us no favours. Eustace knows the contract situation with all our decent players and he was a well liked manager by the players. Derby will back him to a point, I wouldn't be surprised if his first port of call was the agents of Hyam, Travis, Tronstad, Brittain and Dolan. Can get them all for a cut price, as our clown ownership has allowed them to get into their final 12 months and Derby will offer more wages.
  10. Might have gotten lost in the sea of posts at the time but I wonder if Hedges is now a bit worried. Came off with an injury and out of contract. He's prone to a long term layoff. If hes out for months, I assume we'll let him go. I was also impressed with Toth yesterday. He's looked a bit ropey in these games he's played in at times but he was solid yesterday and made a couple of good saves.
  11. The most vital thing right now is retaining the core group of good players we have in Tronstad, Travis, Brittain, Hyam, Batth and if possible Dolan, although I think that ship has sailed. These should be the No.1 priority right now.
  12. Aasgaard looked good when I saw him last week but Luton will want good money for him, especiallyas they only signed him in January. More than our whole budget I'd imagine.
  13. I don't think its a market we'll be looking at but any decent players from the relegated teams worth taking?
  14. It depends on how you view things generally. There will be more than enough Rovers fans happy with the season. At the start of it, most people would have predicted that we were in for a difficult season. We’ve defied that expectation and finished 7th, so on the one hand, it's a good season. Others, like me, see it more that finishing 7th, 2 points outside of the playoffs is fairly meaningless in the grand scheme of things. As a club, we should be striving for success and that means getting into the playoffs (or better). The season was totally derailed by the ownership/senior management at the club. Absolutely unacceptable getting the club into a situation where Eustace wanted to leave for relegation threatened Derby. We've had no stand out players this season, by that i mean in the division overall. No Armstrong, BBD or Szmodics type player tearing up the league for us. Ultimately, the club is now at a familiar crossroads and last time they went the wrong way. Instead of building on what we had, they pulled the rug from under the us and we struggled enormously. They can't do the same again and they need to get player contracts sorted and need to improve on our recent patchy transfer activity. The biggest positive for the whole season has been the formation of the coalition.
  15. Luton have shipped 5. Some fight they've show
  16. Could be worrying for Hedges, out of contract and he loves a long term injury.
