Obviously that's an extreme but at professional level it happens in every league up and down the country. A club, playing poorly with players making mistakes, changes managers and the next guy gets more/better out of what he's got. We've seen it at Rovers several times Souness > Hughes, Ince > Allardyce, Coyle > Mowbray. Your example, whilst clearly not being realistic still does keep some of the logic. If you gave the same 11 players to 5 different managers, you'd get varying degrees of results based on their management style/approach. Clearly there would be a limit to what you could achieve.

It's a huge problem. Outside of the top teams, this style doesn't work. Wigan (under Martinez), Blackpool (under Holloway) and even Rovers (under Coyle) all received plaudits for "playing football the right way" but ultimately couldn't defend to save their lives and were all relegated from their respective leagues. It's too open, expansive and the sheer negligence of the defence is the stuff of amateurs. It leads to a shocking amount of individual mistakes, the defenders don't know what they are doing. We have conceded more goals than anyone else in the league, the style of play is absolutely not good enough with the amount of goals we concede, which includes shipping 5 goals across 2 games against lower league opposition at home. Even our U21's now concede a stunning amount of goals, including a last second equaliser a few mins ago, despite Telalovic scoring (what should have been a winner) late on, in a 3-3 draw.

The defending and keeping for the goals today was nothing short of amateur. Absolutely unacceptable. He's been dealt a rough hand but when players look like they don't know what they are doing it's coming down to the coaching. We're in trouble anyway but lose against Huddersfield (who have already beaten us comfortably once already) it'll be panic stations.

You can't be the better team and concede 4 goals.

Rovers shouldn't surprise you anymore. Conceding immediately after scoring is the most Rovers thing ever.

Happy to give him time yet, he's had a lot of adjusting to do and some players take longer to get settled than others. Given his age, I thought he might have progressed/adapted a bit quicker, that's all. No big deal at the moment. Like Ennis though, he badly needs a goal, which is only likely if he keeps getting starts. Only so many starts he can have without making a real contribution though, so round in circles we go. His introduction into the team has also come at a point where our form has collapsed entirely, making his task even more difficult.

Yeah, I was surprised to see he was 24 when it was his birthday the other month. Feels like he should have made a bit more of an impact by now given his age. I guess it's not that surprising given the level he was playing at before us.
