  1. I've seen lots of Rovers promotion and relegation sides - and in my experience this ain't a promotion side. I've no faith in the ability of Mowbray to deliver promotion. But I hope I'm wrong.
  2. Players love being in a comfortable zone. It means they don't have to try too hard. That's us at the moment. Ferguson had people skills but the players were scared stiff of him too. Are our lot scared of Tony? He's far more likely to give them a hanky so they can cry
  3. But they are unlikely to "deliver it". That's what I've been saying. No tough, ruthless, or competitive enough. Bit of a soft touch to be honest.
  4. I've already said no one is special, including us. But we're not good enough to finish top 6.Last night showed why.
  5. Highly unlikely in my view. They're nothing special - bu then neither are we. We're not tough or ruthless enough. And we're too inconsistent
  6. Funnily enough, I received a letter (quaint I know) the other day addressed Manchester, Lancs.
  7. Some thoughts on last night. All the other Championship managers will have been watching last night and will see that this Rovers side can easily be bullied. Expect more of the same in games to come. Mowbray needs to sort it. Losing Dack is a big blow but Mowbray will have to find a different way to play without him. Holtby and Rothwell - who was terrible last night - need to step up. Nyambe - why does he need 3 touches to get the ball under control? It's not wonder he looks under pressure all the time. We're not a top 6 side. The best teams don't disappear for 45 minutes like we did and don't get dictated to like that. We need to stop being "nice". Fair play to Wigan - they looked anything but a bottom team and should have won the game.
  8. Wigan, Warrington, Widnes, Barrow, Southport, Manchester, Liverpool ....... all Lancashire to us old uns.
  9. Rubbish performance and result but predicted by me and few others. Wigan by far the better side and should have won Made some money on the contra Mercer bet though He hasn’t got a clue about football
  10. 1963 sticks in the memory. The shock of the 8-2 win away followed by the horror of the 3-1 defeat. Older West Ham fans chuckle about it too.
  11. Surprised no one has started a thread on this. Another member of England's one and only World Cup-winning team has gone. Alan Ball, Ray Wilson, Gordon Banks, Bobby Moore, Martin Peters. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50880336 Saw him play at Ewood. A class player.
  12. It's all set up Rovers on a winning run We're playing the bottom team Pushing for the top 6 Bumper crowd excited in anticipation We all know what happens next .
  13. £10 a ticket...it should be Come on Rovers
  14. Wigan now the lowest scorers in the Championship after Boro's 2 goals tonight. Bodes well for Monday?
  15. Looking forward to this match immensely.... it's a real test of our ambitions going into the new year. There can be no messing about, if we're serious about a top 6 place this has to be an emphatic win with a good performance. Coming over Merceresque here but it has to be a 3-0 or better. A draw or worse would be hard to take after the recent run raising our hopes (yet again)
  16. We're nudging the top 6 but let's not delude ourselves we are a top 6 team We have too many flaws and weaknesses, not least goalkeeper. Walton is going to cost us alot of points this season. No club with him in the team is going to get promoted
  17. Fantastic result cheered me up no end after a depressing week. Shame the Tory voters down the road won though Looking forward immensely to the Wigan game let’s hope we can keep this run going
  18. Great story and a fantastic thing to receive when you're young. It's little touches like that which make such a difference and binds you to a club for life. You're right - it's very unlikely to happen now.
  19. Interviewed him a couple of times. Always friendly, polite, a good man. His Rovers team with Hird and Bailey as attacking full backs was exciting to watch. After Ron Saunders another one gone from that era. RIP Jim.
  20. I just hope (probably forlornly) that if the club does have targets that it moves quickly and gets the players signed up in the first week of Jan. It would be a sign that we actually mean business.
  21. Keep it coming Mercer lad. I've made money too by betting against your tips. I'll be watching the nag at Musselburgh. Almost certain bet to come up lame.
  22. Nope, against Mercer, as stated. And it's Rovers, not Blackburn
  23. Not correct, actually. Mercer has a habit of getting it spectacularly wrong in predicting Rovers wins. I've made quite a bit this season this season betting against his silly forecasts.
  24. We're a middling team that's far too high in the table at present. Mowbray will also have had the nod from above to lower expectations after the recent run. Reality check in the next 2 games. 2-0 Swansea and 4-1 Bristol.
  25. He was playing centre forward that day - I was there! A very fine player. Good cricketer too
