  1. If Bayliss were a football manager he would have been given the chop by now. Results have been poor for some time and show no sign of improvement - in fact, England seem to be getting worse rather than better. The batting has been a problem for years and it's too easy to blame the one-day game because all the other Test playing countries play T20 and don't have batting collapses and so many inept displays in Test matches as England. Bayliss says he's "tearing his hair out in frustration" at England's batting but it's obvious that his message isn't getting through to the players or they aren't listening to him. Time for him to go.
  2. Smallwood was a good signing - an vital part of the promotion team - while Armstrong and Downing contributed. There must be question marks over all 4 though in terms of the Championship.
  3. I rather liked last season's away striped kit - red and black is a good combination - but would prefer to see it the famous halved shirts. We're unique (I think) in British football in having halved shirts so why not keep our away shirts halved too ?
  4. Fulham and Aston Villa are fighting for at least £160 million from a share of the Premier League’s multibillion-pound broadcasting rights deals when they contest the playoff final this weekend. That could rise to £280 million should the victors then avoid relegation next season. Puts our meagre winnings from gaining promotion from the third division into very painful context.
  5. So Conway is Mowbray's eyes and ears in the dressing room - the snitch in other words. No wonder he's got a new contract! Like him as a player but he shouldn't be starting games next season
  6. Which club bigger or better than Rovers is going to offer him a job? Mowbray was damn lucky to be appointed at Ewood after his mixed career record and abysmal end to his time at Coventry. I wasn't alone in thinking he didn't deserve the Rovers job. He should be glad he's successfully rehabilitated his reputation at Ewood.
  7. In the relegation battle last year, we had nothing to worry about and Rovers would avoid the drop easily. And we would win every match 5-0 in the process.
  8. Shelvey, probably the best passer of the ball in the Premier League, is the standout omission for me. Would have taken him instead of Delph or Lingard. Cahill and Stones makes silly mistakes. Smalling is a much better player than both.
  9. Question marks over both but it would help if they were played in their best positions. Armstrong is best down the middle and Payne is best with a free role in midfield. Payne gave us all sorts of problems in the match at Oxford and although I haven't seen him hit that form for us yet the potential is there.
  10. Where does it say "Blackburn is this poverty ridden hell hole where everyone has to use food banks"?
  11. This isn't about you ...... and quite frankly I'm not interested either. This is about people who are less fortunate - something you don't seem to understand or not have any empathy for.
  12. I was replying to Chaddy (who else?) and pointing out that every penny counts to some people, to the extent they have to use food banks, and that a £50 season-ticket increase would probably stop them going to football.
  13. Flippant comment when many people are clearly struggling. https://blackburn.foodbank.org.uk/
  14. Mowbray's quote was taken out of context but what he was saying is that Rovers will come under embargo if the club's revenues do not improve in the future. That's a pretty important story.
  15. If the quote has been made up, and the story isn't true, the club should say so to stop rumours spreading.
  16. There is a direct quote from Mowbray. All the club needs to do is ask him !
  17. The club can quash this story straightaway by putting out a statement. Why has it not done so ?
  18. Speculative stories don't need a response but there is a direct quote from Mowbray which gives a the story credence. Just because you don't like the journalist for some reason or the substance of the story doesn't mean it is not true or it can be ignored.
  19. Being of a certain age I don't do Twitter but the club needs to be bombarded with messages to get a reaction
  20. The club needs to put out a statement immediately confirming or denying this story. Have to say it is worrying there is a direct quote from Mowbray. Even the Sun wouldn't normally make those up
  21. Neil Warnock, not considered good enough to manage Rovers by the Ewood hierarchy, today chalked up another promotion on his CV by leading Cardiff City into the Premier League. That could and should have been us but the Rovers management gave us Owen Coyle instead. Feel free to bang your head against the nearest wall...............
  22. Pleased for Bolton and Phil Parkinson; to score 2 goals in 3 minutes late in the game to save themselves from relegation is a fantastic effort. Another Lancashire derby adds to the anticipation for next season.
  23. i don't know how Ribery does it. Not only is he often the best player on the pitch, he is also the fastest. He's giving more than 10 years to many of the defenders he's up against yet leaves them for dead with pace, as well as skill. Gordon Strachan, another winger, said he changed his game and his diet when he got older to compensate for the lack of spring in his legs but Ribery shows no sign of ageing. Many wingers move into midfield too when they get older because they can't get past defenders any more. Conway obviously loves his football and still has alot to offer in my opinion, but he needs to rethink how he plays the game.
  24. You haven't been watching Franck Ribery playing for Bayern this season. He's 35 yet often looks the fittest and fastest (and best) player on the pitch - he gave the Real defence the runaround in the recent semi-final. Age isn't a factor as much as hunger and enthusiasm for the game and keeping oneself very fit. Conway looks as if he could lose a pound or two.
  25. Older players are as much a gamble as young Under-23s - Tony Mowbray please note. Are they still hungry to play the game and for success or are they going through the motions for one last big payday ? We've had few of the former and plenty of the latter over the years. The manager needs to talk to these players thoroughly and make a judgment
