  1. A "character test" is a great innovation by Mowbray . It's a pity we didn't have one years ago - it would have saved us from the likes of Martin Dahlin, Danny Murphy and Bradley Orr. Personally, I'd wouldn't sign any player who didn't have 3 A-levels, who didn't wear a suit and tie for the interview and had any facial hair. Tattoos would be a no-no too. Nice Boys only need apply.
  2. And the Portugal sub waited 2 minutes to come on while the player he replaced ambled off the field
  3. Highly illuminating post - what does it mean ?
  4. Iran could/should have won that in the last 2 minutes. That miss will haunt their player for the rest of his life - assuming the Supreme Leader doesn't throw him in jail
  5. My bad what ? Breath? False teeth? Hairdo? Can you re-post that in English please. ?
  6. Looks to be a good pacy player with an eye for a pass. Oxford fans say he is injury prone and inconsistent. Let's see.
  7. Let's see how he goes next year. 3 years will be wasted money if he relegates us again.
  8. It's obvious Tony is holding fire with his tens of millions transfer kitty to watch the talent on view in the World Cup and make his move after the end of the tournament. From what I have seen so far, the Portuguese No 7 shows promise and the Uruguay No 9 could be useful in the Championship.
  9. Focusing on a key player and relating him to England's non-chances is equally boring
  10. Leave off. Salah playing is good for him after his bad injury and good for the tournament. England won't win it or probably even get to the last 8 and are perfectly capable of cocking it up through sheer ineptitude - with or without Salah playing
  11. Hoban was a very good player in his short time with us. Emnes and Gallagher had their moments too.
  12. Ronaldo is one of those players who make football a "beautiful" game. It's just something in the way he moves. The best player in the world and has been for some time.
  13. Are you deranged ?
  14. .... and Mexico will have had it 3 (yes 3) times since we hosted it in 1966. Anyone except England is Fifa's motto. I'm resigned to the fact it'll never be here again in my lifetime
  15. How can you make a judgment on the PNE players if "you don't know much about them" ? Nonsensical. Nothing negative except we've re-signed 2 old codgers who are likely to struggle next year.
  16. The England football team were visiting children at a Russian orphanage today. "It was heartbreaking to see their sad faces with no hope," said Vladimir aged 6.
  17. I've made a point of watching City alot this season (because they're so easy on the eye) and Sterling's been the best player on alot of occasions and the catalyst for much of their best play. Players have been feeding off him, not the other way round. He does miss chances but scores (and creates) many too. He would probably be my first pick for an England XI. I'd have Vardy and Kane up front. It's just a pity that Shelvey, the best passer of a ball in the Premier League - who has the eye and ability to hit an early pass for Vardy's runs, isn't in the squad. A mistake by Southgate in my view.
  18. Why ? Sterling has been outstanding for City this past season. His game has developed and matured and he's twice the player who pulled on an England shirt in the last tournament. And he's scoring goals. Rashford has promise but he's very raw.
  19. Lake was seen as a big star; Gary Shaw was another whose dazzling career fizzled out because of injury. Lots of other unfulfilled talent from the past - Duncan Mackenzie, Alan Hudson, Bowles, Worthington, Currie. Fantastic players, better than anything we have now. In the present era, Ross Barkley is in danger of losing what should have been. Excellent player - but does he want it ?
  20. Embarrassing. Even chasing 371, England's batters got themselves into good positions several times only to lose their wickets to poor shots. Coupled with the Test defeats though it all points to continuing failure in all types of the game. Time for Bayliss to depart.
  21. Howard Gayle and David Thompson, discarded by Liverpool, were excellent players for Rovers. John Bailey was a Liverpudlian too, and Mike Newell. All brilliant for us.
  22. Agree with this. Jason Lowe is a Rolls-Royce of a player at his level. For all the criticism of Lowe, he has had a very good career in the Championship, the second tier of the game. Most players cannot say that.
  23. What does Dack want from his career ? If he buckles down and plays well again next season Premier League clubs will be knocking on our door. If he messes around off the field and doesn't look after his body in a professional manner he won't get anywhere. It's all down to him. Don Revie at Leeds insisted his great young players when they were coming through such Bremner, Hunter etc married early. Not sure if he'd get away with that these days but he knew the value of stability in players' lives.
