  1. Thanks, I didn't think so. I went in there a few times and I don't remember any. It was a lovely place
  2. Good news - our group was going to QPR but now we're not. We've seen us win just 1 point away from home this season Bad news - I don't think our staying away will make any difference. It's come a week too late and QPR will be lifted by the arrival of a new manager - a Blackburn lad who will be well and truly up for it QPR 1 Rovers 0 Hope I'm wrong
  3. Some great photos in there - a few I haven't seen before A young Mike Ferguson in the Accrington Stanley photo
  4. Young Fred threw me - didn't recognise him from the side Wasn't Bob Jones the reserve keeper an Aussie?
  5. Is it in the old wood-panelled boardroom?
  6. Dead or alive most newspapers use surnames only on second mention
  7. Good old Dickie. You had to feel sorry for him. He was the face of ITV Sport when the BBC had Wimbledon, the Open, Test cricket, top football and the Olympics all tied up and the best ITV often had to offer was go- kart racing and turbo charged dustbin championships. He did it with style though RIP
  8. I can name most of them. The devil incarnate centre stage with the pipe. A futture Scotland manager and well known businessman in there too
  9. Lovely old stories, sentiments and style of writing too. Wouldn’t you, me and a few others I suspect like to go back to the Blackburn of the 1960s?
  10. That's a good, gritty win. We're ekeing them out and despite the limited team and players at our disposal we are back in the play-off mix again The Ewood faithful should be happy with that Meanwhile Liverpool 2 Real Madrid 5 Anfield stakeholders are demanding their money back
  11. That's the first time I've seen Gallagher described as "unplayable"
  12. 2,500 plus Blackpool fans heading for Ewood according to website so fair play to them No mention of stakeholders though. McCarthy will have his team up for this one. We'll have to be much better than of late and scoring goals likely still to be a big problem 1-0 says the heart and 0-0 says the head
  13. Ainsworth appointed at QPR in time for Saturday New manager bounce. Blackburn lad. Only one result.
  14. He blew hot and cold here. When he was good, he was very good; when he was bad, he was anonymous. Overall we miss him I think. His deep runs from midfield would have suited the current manager, We've no one who can do that now. He had a touch of class about him. You'll be disappointed with our lot. We're absolutely dire to watch and can't score goals
  15. How's Joe Rothwell doing?
  16. Dickov scored more than 100 goals in 400 plus appearances. With all due respect, I don't think Dolan will get anywhere near that
  17. Speed of thought is just as important as the ability to run fast. Bobby Moore and Gerd Muller couldn't run to save their lives but they were always one step ahead of the others because they read the game so well. Dolan doesn't offer much except running around alot, harrassing defenders and making a nuisance of himself. He won't be able to play like that when he gets a bit older because his legs won't do it.
  18. It is corporate speak - probably from the US - which is another reason why it needs to be resisted. The Plain English Campaign has been fighting this sort of nonsense gobbledygook, jargon and misleading information. for years, for good reason I travelled by train last week - I'm not a "passenger" now, I'm a "customer" apparently. Likewise, "supporters" or "fans" are perfectly good descriptions for us ordinary folk who follow the club. We don't need to be given a "modern" label invented by corporate types to make us feel more "inclusive" or important. Anyway, good to see that Rovers have belatedly issued a statement on the EFL. I'm sure supporters will be pleased that there is still life in this sorry transfer tale yet
  19. I'm like Dack but his attitude was very poor at West Brom. He played the showpony and almost cost us a goal with a ridiculous attempted pass across our box. He should have been subbed long before he came off.
  20. A fan does not automatically mean you are a "stakeholder". Some fans might see themselves as "stakeholders" for their own reasons but many do not for legitimate reasons too. I have no "stakeholder interest" in BRFC whatsoever
  21. Can you be nice too and use the reply button? I understand it thanks. But it doesn't apply to me and I suspect many other fans.
  22. Yes it is up to me, and I ain't a stakeholder Blackpool supporters in the "modern world" may think otherwise and that's up to them. I look forward to them singing "Shit ground, no stakeholders"
  23. I may have bought cakes from a local shop and if it closes it will affect me because I will no longer be able to use that facility so does that make me a stakeholder too? I have no financial interest in it and its success or failure does not depend on me. I haven't lost out and I will take my custom elsewhere. I have problems with the game of football and watching a match being described as a "product". The loos might not be clean and the pies overpriced but that's by the way. My enjoyment stems only from the team's performance. I'm fan of the team in the blue and white shirts - nothing more. And for me that doesn't make me a "stakeholder" It all smacks of Chicago Business School management jargon I wonder how many "stakeholders" will be at Ewood for the Blackpool game? Answer: maybe 100-200 players, sponsors, employees, because they have a financial stake. Fans: probably 12-15,000
  24. We're fans, not shareholders or stakeholders
  25. Perhaps the BRFCS owners / administrators could tell us if there is a reference to stakeholders? It’s possible but it’s unlikely. I thought we as messageboard users were “members” or is that too old fashioned and “Luddite”? I honestly doubt if anyone who posts on here regard themselves as stakeholders in the same way as the vast majority of folk who attend matches do not see themselves as anything other than fans or supporters. Language evolves but this smacks of American management/ corporate bullshit to me and I’m looking forward to the next away match already. “Shit ground, no stakeholders” Yeah right
