  1. http://www.rovers.co.uk/news/article/blackburn-rovers-hope-akpan-ipswich-town-hull-city-2719212.aspx? Momentum is building, we are on a 3 game unbeaten run, lacking a bit of luck and playing well. Im beginning to think its not propaganda, but that they actually believe the stuff they are saying.
  2. Man Citys game is live on BT sport on freeview (not via sky) tonight if anyone wants to watch it.
  3. I think Wigan Huddersfield is a better tie for Wigan to be honest, takes the derby randomness out of the game.Leeds where pretty poor for most of the game and picked up a couple of knee joint injuries too, which are the type that may struggle to recover from. As an outsider you have to think its Wigans to lose at this point in time, but I can see Saints defence getting them past Leeds, which would make a pretty even call of a final.
  4. The dodging of bouts and debatable ranking system are key issues with boxing at the moment, if you sell tickets then by george you are kept away from harm as much as possible.
  5. Leeds secure the title with some very favourable refereeing decisions in the last 10 minutes of their game against Huddersfield. Wigan Saints next weekend?
  6. You will be able to, the option files will be available in the next few weeks, google "PES Daymos"
  7. Budget is inclusive of wages, loan fees, signing on-fees, and not exclusively transfer fees.As an example, before the impending FFP embargo we signed Steele for cash, yet had 3 other senior keepers in the first team squad at the time, plus Raya out on loan.
  8. Doesnt mean they have done a worse job though if you factor in budgets etc.
  9. I think it has been showing for quite a while that the current set up is wrong.
  10. I think he may have high blood pressure and anger issues. There's plenty of people to get angry about, choosing those who have raised hundreds of millions seems like a strange target. Also not sure he should be recording his rant whilst driving around town. Hardly in full control is he?
  11. Impressive 70 seconds by Joshua last night, but the Scottish guy looked like he'd never seen a punch before.
  12. Each venue bids for test matches, and gets to keep 15% of revenue from gate receipts, so those attracting corporate clients can afford to bid higher. I don't agree with this though, as it's taking cricket further away in pricing from your average working man. The ECB should try and expand the game by making sure that the games are equally spread geographically.
  13. Gresko was good on loan tbf, I think we signed his rubbish twin.I think you can see from that list, his signings dropped off a bit, but you can't knock him for the list i put up. Btw you missed de Pedro. I can't imagine even with all the money in the world Bowyer could attract a player like Santa Cruz, Bellamy, Andy Cole - anyone remember the press release from big-club saying they had a bid accepted for Craig Bellamy? Souness, Hughes and Big Sam could spot and bring in players.
  14. Probably not the thread for you then Mike?
  15. I think the difference is that in the north cricket is traditionally a working mans game, whereas in the south I don't think its the same. Crowds in the north and even Midlands are predominantly young males, in the south it's more middle to elderly gentleman. I know its a generalisation, but I would be interested to see the demographics of the crowds and see if my thoughts are backed by the data.
  16. Looking like a possible 2-1 tonight. Shane Warne says test matches should move to 4 days of 90 overs, so you avoid the current predicament of a full day 5 hardly ever being played now. Also says 20:20 should be domestic cricket only, with potential of a trophy for the winners of the IPL, Big Bash, 20:20 etc... I personally think that 40 over games should be split up into 2x 20 in order to balance up the conditions (i.e 20 overs batting, then 20 bowling and vice versa for the opposition), it would also help where a game is rain affected too. Any thoughts?
  17. He may not have been a great tactician, or the easiest guy to get along with but boy could he spot and attract a player. Friedel Berg Hughes Steven Reid David Thompson Matty Jansen (well turned him from a dribbler into a centre forward) Lucas Neill Tugay Berkovic Andy Cole Dwight Yorke
  18. Lets see in 12 months, he's had a good start, but theres not much in the way of quality in the second division.
  19. But you never saw us score from set pieces under Allardyce? Can't have it both ways.
  20. Do you think Allardyce would have persisted if it wasn't effective? It's not only direct goals though, its also corners and free-kicks generated, pressure from being in and around the opposition penalty box.
  21. Long throw with MGP and Allardyce was effective, we scored a few goals that way. Trouble now is that to win a header we'd have to shove a CH up top, leaving us vulnerable to the counter-attack.
  22. There may be worse teams than us, but how many points do we need to be safe in this league? 55? If so, where the hell are they coming from, despite how awful Rotherham etc are. Rovers under Kidd should be a stark reminder to all those claiming worse teams than us.
  23. Its all about money, thats why the Ashes are being played more frequently. However, in my opinion 20:20 is replacing the ODI format. Attendances at 20:20 are 20 odd percent up this year, and I'd imagine a similar if not higher decline in 40 overs cricket attendance over the past few seasons. If the ECB really had the future of the game at heart, they'd get one of the formats on terrestrial tv. Sky do good coverage, but theres masses who don't have access.
  24. Theres a lot of pubs on broad street, the Brasshouse is nice and central for other places if they aren't showing the game, theres a couple of wetherspoons nearby too.
