  1. Seems Lancashires new signing Joss Buttler is a Rovers fan, according to Richard Askam. Good Lad!
  2. Sod the kids, love the lego games, they are brilliant fun to play.
  3. I think there is more reason to take them off at 1-1, you wouldn't want the series decided because of someone missing a catch because of the light. Cant say we deserved 4-0 but every credit to Clarke for putting a game on. Strange to see him after the game in the interview taking the credit for that, but also at the end of the game berating the umpires to go off for bad light. Needless to say if the shoes where on the other foot England would have done the same. Feel sorry for the fans though. Disappointing end to a somewhat disappointing series, that really hasn't got going. I see a very close series in Aus this winter.
  4. Well Done to Wigan, has any other town held both the challenge cup and FA Cup at the same time?
  5. Understand what your saying Jim, but still think we handed the impetus by being very defensive.
  6. A day of rain forcast for tomorrow, and if that happens, then a draw is the only logical outcome. Very negative tactics by England today I felt. We may end the series 3-0, but actually is been much closer. The Aussies must be feeling quite positive going into a home series. Personally I think the pitches have been poor, and made winning the toss too relevant to winning the test.
  7. Lehmanns comments http://www.triplem.com.au/adelaide/sport/cricket/news/2013/8/darren-boof-lehmann-replies-to-stuart-broad-labelling-actions-blatant-cheating/ Make your own judgement, but they sound slightly tongue in cheek, slightly bitter to me.
  8. I believe the quotes from Lehman were sarcastic, and a joke on an Aussie radio program. Ouch, bad day for Kerrigan. Looked like a nervous wreck on the highlights.
  9. Different argument, however as long as the correct decision is given I dont see the problem. If its the umpires decision to check, rather than each side having 2 reviews, like in rugby, where referees often check the grounding of the ball / or if the winger was in or out of touch before touching the ball down, so the correct decision is given.
  10. Its not a joke in its current format, its just not brilliant. I think the suggestion of the umpires deciding when to use it is the best, so they can look at close lbw calls, check catches etc. it still wont be 100%, but its better than tests being decided on poor calls.
  11. "There are a few things that could be looked at but I don't think it's a bad system at the moment. "We should straighten out the rules and get clarity with how it should work and how decisions are going to be made, then the players or the spectators won't have a problem." Thats hardly a savaging of DRS is it?
  12. Its a tough call, because theres a lot of the top order out of form, but as the saying goes form is temporary. Theres few of the English team who can say they have performed consistently well in the 4 games. Maybe the management should tell those under-performers their places are at risk if they dont perform in the final test, or give some of the possible replacements a game in the final test to prove their worth?
  13. Been a couple of times, and the first was considerably better than the second. The second the place was very busy, and the food was overcooked and very greasy, but the first time it was very good. Its in a lovely setting, and on the doorstep of some decent walking too and you can get a decent pint before the 30 second walk back to the train station.
  14. Id agree the side needs a bit of freshening up. It feels a bit stale, and some players are playing on reputation. Out batsmen have done nothing all series, and the bowlers appear to becoming predictable too. I think the pitches have been poor, too easy to bat on too. DRS is really only an issue because both teams have been poor at using it. Strauss was the master at using it, whereas now its being used as a hopeful shot. Personally some of the umpiring decisions even using the technology have been baffling, and overall the umpiring has been poor too.
  15. I going to try and make this, this year http://www.visitlancashire.com/whats-on/ride-the-lights-2013-p675180
  16. KP has categorically denied siliconing his bat. Anyway, theres a test coming up in a couple of days.....any ideas on team changes, weather, tictacs etc?
  17. Disappointing way to settle the game, and the series. Wonder if Clarke regrets not declaring earlier yesterday? Hopefully two good games left to play.
  18. Follow on avoided, time for England just to keep on batting as long as possible.
  19. England seem to be just desperate to get to the follow on total. Its going to be tight, but i hope England dont just switch off after that point. If they could bat till lunch at least it will make it very difficult for Clarke to decide how many more he needs to get in the 2nd innings. Will he bat till a certain time or a score? If I was an Aussie, id like him to set England a tempting target. Is he that kind of captain?
  20. Stubborness i think is a decent attribute for our batsmen, i can only think of KP who cannot resist an odd swipe.
  21. Great day out at OT, extremely hot, great day for Aussies on a flat batting wicket. Suspect if its more overcast tomorrow it wont be so easy. Aussies played well, but since the ball was doing nothing England quickly ran out of ideas. Suspect the decision to tale the new ball was a poor decision, would have been better to wait till last couple of overs or morning.
  22. Cant wait for tomorrow, off to OT. Oz, we need a draw from any of the 3 tests left to retain. (But yes my mind thinks the same) Cant believe we are 2-0 and haven't played well yet. We must be brimming with confidence, whilst the Aussies are under massive pressure.
  23. I think DRS highlights how poor some of the umpire decisions have been, plus how optimistic some of the appeals are too. See no problem with it personally. In fact, if as a bowling team you use DRS and the review shows the ball would hit the stumps, but not by enough, I don't think you should lose a review.
