  1. As if selling Wharton was an idea of Broughton. It was the owners, solely the owners, needing to drain the club to cover their dodgy doings.
  2. Thats already been rubbished by the Lancashire Telegraph. Seems like a lazy Eustace based link. Wouldnt be a good signing so lets hope not. He had a bad season and wasnt great to begin with but he isnt one of the worst strikers to ever wear the shirt. Hes hardly prolific and comes with a reputation as a bit of a tear away with questions as to his weight etc.
  3. His seasonal goal tallies are 12, 7, 8, 9, 8 and 5 this season having missed a decent chunk. So 49 in 6 seasons. His goal record is very underwhelming but compare him to some of the strikers weve had under Venkys. Brown, Telalovic, Ennis, Varney, Kazim Richards, Dom Samuel, Hirst, Goodwillie, Edinho. Hes not one of the worst.
  4. He isnt good enough to be in charge of England but those class players become more sparse the further you go back, with a real issue at left back and next to Rice in midfield and next to Stones at CB. Sounds like Kane is really struggling with his back too.
  5. Some absolute crap there that I can understand why Birmingham have released.
  6. If its John Eustace then fair enough. Im not convinced that the owners will authorise a new goalkeeper signing with one of the current clowns having signed a new contract last summer and the other clown being our only real money spent last summer. They dont seem the type of owners to care too much how bad they are.
  7. The question (based on my interpretation) was a simple, I wont get to all the games as I struggle midweek, is there more value to getting a season ticket or buying individually for the games I can/want to attend. Might be wrong. Not sure it required a reply about not buying a season ticket because of Waggott, although buying loads of individual tickets will probably be a not too dissimilar outlay anyway. Equally, not sure it warranted the spiel about supporting the players and head coach, the latter was particularly strange, as if anyone on the fence would go I wasnt sure but Ill go to show my support towards the underwhelming John Eustace. The posters desire to support us and watch the games didnt seem to be in question, just seemed like a question of what is the best approach in his/her situation. If you cant attend midweek games and with Sky about to move games all over the shop, obviously subject to the matchday and season ticket pricing, I would suggest that there may not be any value in a season ticket.
  8. Even if Rovers did renege on the NDA. It would require Broughton to have the desire to slag the club off, he would need to find someone in the media to offload and crucially it wouldnt seen a good luck to potential other employers. So it wont happen.
  9. I dont get how any contact would have been specifically told the exact order of potential signings. Seems like educated guesses and to me probably logical ones based not on what we need but on where we are thinnest in the squad.
  10. Been told by who? We have 2 goalkeepers given long term deals last summer, so if its an educated guess its a logical one. Unfortunately.
  11. And we revert back to the superfan v advising people not to go debate. Picking and choosing but going to a significant number of games is still money going into the club at eventually probably not a dissimilar amount over the season.
  12. Its hard not to reflect on the season as anything other than grimly predictable. City with a 4th title and the 3 promoted sides straight back down, and 2 coming back up with the third a losing play off finalist. With all the Sky money sloshing around, it feels like football in this country is getting more and more predictable.
  13. Its absolutely ridiculous to suggest that Foden is being held back. He has been far and away the best player in the league and perhaps in Europe this season. We tend to look back at players with nostalgia but make no mistake, Foden has been incredible. And not just as part ot a structure, hes still that street footballer that he always was. If you want to see him being held back, wait until Southgate manages him.
  14. Im not convinced that Carter would generate that much. Hes not really young enough where a Prem team would buy him for the future and he had a poor season punctuated with a bad injury.
  15. Harvey Knibbs and Miyoshi are this seasons Rhys Healey.
  16. But would you want Fleck to say? A player who is 33 and whilst a good player in his day, he has barely played in years due to 2 broken legs which left him with a plate in his leg, that after 17 minutes of football was so vulnerable that it led to a further long term injury. In a position which out of them all we have more cover for.
  17. Venkys have caused delays throughout their time here, it will be down to them. As incompetent as Waggott is, the problem is always in India.
  18. It was our very own Paul Mani who was said that If Waggott said that aswell, he was purely kiss arsing. If you genuinely believe that Waggott and not Venkys are responsible for the budget cuts then you are deluded.
  19. You think Waggott and not Venkys are the ones refusing to reinvest in the squad?
  20. Why are we in talks with John Fleck? He has a plate in his leg and has barely played any football in years. We took a stupid risk last time, got a kick after 17 minutes, didnt play again yet we dont learn from our mistakes.
  21. Well, not really. Its just one persons opinion against another, not what will happen. No, and thats the point. No one has seen Duru play senior football. Gent at least has a bit of senior experience, but I dont agree with reducing the number of signings assuming that youngsters are ready. We did it with Batty last season and he wasnt ready and we left ourselves short. We did it with Vale and he wasnt good enough. We can't just assume that young lads who have never played are ready, based on pre season. If they come through, bonus. £7m is unrealistic because we have terrible owners, with history of not reinvesting sales, and crucially at the moment fighting an ongoing legal case of their own making which wont be cleared until at least August. We need to gut the squad. We need 2 goalkeepers really but at least 1. A couple of full backs as we only have 2 senior full backs. One or two centre backs. A couple of wingers. A couple of strikers. An attacking midfielder and maybe a central midfielder. We wont get all that, or even close, but thats what is needed. Szmodics was £2m, Brittain £900k and Hyam £1.5m I think. According to the LT. Maths not your strong suit.
  22. Deciding to have only one senior player in any position based on the youngsters performances in pre season is incredibly flawed. Pre season is all about fitness, the games are uncompetitive and often against lower league opposition. We saw 2 years ago that Vale scored a few in pre season and he turned out to be nowhere near good enough. To a lesser extent Leonard played much of pre season last season but wasnt ready to play as much as he did. Its also very limiting to just rule out signings from abroad as you are then fishing in a very small and crowded pond. Youve obviously got to do due diligence as weve recently signed players like Telalovic from very poor levels, but it shouldnt be "British signings only" as a strict rule. It doesnt help having to wait for our terrible owners to communicate a budget allowing other teams to steal a march. Talk of £7m being spent seems beyond unrealistic at this stage.
  23. The lack of a left back and the void of central midfielders aside from Rice is a huge concern. As is the inevitable selection of Maguire. We really need to hope that Kane isnt either carrying his injury into the tournament or even misses out entirely as that would be a potentially fatal blow.
  24. Jackson is purely guessing but we certainly wont spend above £7m, that is a very safe bet.
  25. Elliott Jacksons Q&A is just a platform for him to sort of guess his way as to what will happen, rather tha anything concrete.
