  1. I never once said dont give him a chance. For some reason, any questions seem to lead to a pack throwing that line down peoples faces. I said to give him a few games now in the absence of Gallagher and Ennis. Regarding tomorrow, im expecting us to absolutely batter Sunderland if Mowbray really is as bad as many on here like to make out.
  2. Not sure what thats based on at this stage either way but I hope you are right. Seems the perfect chance to give him some games though and lets hope he hits the ground running as we need him to step up.
  3. Admittedly he was offside but he did miss a sitter himself on Saturday. But he definitely should start especially with the lack of alternatives.
  4. Telalovic was the first to come on before Leonard on Saturday and with him being older and a summer signing who we had picked out, surely he starts tomorrow.
  5. Big blow but not unexpected, Gallagher might not be as injury prone as our other main striker but he is still injury prone. Piles the pressure on Telalovic who needs to hit the ground running.
  6. What would you put our season ticket numbers down to then, if not price?
  7. I think there are plenty of reasons why its unlikely. A lack of experience, a lack of goals, a lack of depth. But the hope lies in Tomasson whose stamp is very much evident on the side and lets hope we can finish far higher than would be expected according to the resources given to him.
  8. Need to improve on the field tilt.
  9. About time 😂 as if they havent been doing it for ages
  10. But it was fair at that stage to suggest that he was based on a few months worth of performances.
  11. Or more a demonstration on how things can change. Player signs for decent fee and for 6 months shows very little whilst other areas of the team are lacking, people question the signing. Player starts becoming a big player for the team, people in unison praise him. Nothing to see here, at neither point were people wrong.
  12. Of course there is some doubt or at least jeopardy as to whether he will be a big player for us, we dont know at this stage. He has never played senior football really and he is also a natural number 10 so there is a question as to whether him and Szmodics could both fit in effectively. Really struggled as you touched on when he came on, although I thought he did well at Plymouth. For both players, we have nothing to go off based on their careers prior to coming to Rovers. People are going to develop an opinion on a game by game basis when commenting on each game and discussing it. If they do poorly initially and then improve, Szmodics is the perfect example of how a player will get the required praise if they start thriving but it didnt make the criticism in the first half of last season incorrect. There is an onus on both contributing this season, both have been signed as first team players so fingers crossed they will. Probably a decent chance of seeing both from the start on Wednesday.
  13. For the next meeting, please can the lack of option to go outside to smoke/vape at half time (also helps to reduce congregation) and the continued horrendous waits to be served be raised.
  14. To be fair, it was Nixon I think who reported that so likely to be absolute bollocks.
  15. We definitely shouldnt be putting other players out of position (Hedges is a right winger) to be trying to accomodate Dolan. He should be dropped, simple as that.
  16. Tronstad surely has to be in the squad, and in the team if Travis is unavailable. We have looked very suspect to counter attacks, never moreso than with Rankin Costello and Wharton together in midfield, and one of our summer signings was a more defensive minded midfielder in his peak years having apparently been a top target. Reflects poorly on the judgement of those who picked him if he cant even make a 20 man squad.
  17. People are behind him.
  18. If Warnock goes, it would presumably be his own decision. He implied that he stayed because with the new owners, he felt it would be dangerous for them to also need to be looking for a new manager so soon. But he seems to prefer only working for a couple of months a year and he is not happy with not being backed in the window. If he goes, they will struggle.
  19. Szmodics scored in his first game so he definitely wasnt written off after 45 minutes. He was poor in the first half of last season in the main, he came for a big (relative to the run down modern day Rovers) fee, it sidelined Dack and his performances were underwhelming, he was even dropped to play a couple of games with the kids. Questions were understandably asked. Then he stepped up, really started contributing and he is universally popular now, full of praise. Dont see any problem. (Aside from that weird comment from a solitary poster who wanted his legs broke, which was rightly jumped on by everyone)
  20. Not sure that we would have a chance of getting close to 6m for him, maybe if he was 5 or 6 years younger, but has really become a key component to this team and one of the first names on the team sheet. He could have been taken off 10 minutes before he was today because he could barely move such was his work rate. Effort alone is not much use but he certainly does give us far more than that.
  21. Im sure the weird Mowbray irrational hatred will come to a head over the next few days. A much tougher game than today on paper. Mowbray contrary to popular belief is a proven decent manager at this level and Sunderland have some real talent. 2 young sides for whom experience has been ushered away/prevented fron being brought in for decent reasons by people above the manager seemingly somewhat against their wishes. Crazy how much our team has changed in just over a year with so many key players having moved on. Wahlstedt Brittain Carter Hyam Pickering Travis Wharton Hedges Szmodics Rankin Costello Gallagher With Telelovic and Tronstad in for Gallagher and Travis if injured. Rankin Costello feels too good to not play but not convinced that him and Wharton provides the right balance and with Dolan being not up to it and Moran struggling today, there is a potential spot on the left side, Brittain did well.
  22. Indeed. Everyone is already behind him as was evident today, and behind the team as a whole. I dont think that people do need to go and watch under 23 football to understand anything in regards to any supposed entitlement in the crowd. Ultimately, even though prices have actually increased in order to watch a team more reliant on graduates than ever before, there seems to be zero entitlement in how the team is backed. Its first team football, people dont pay big prices and already give up lots of free time to watch development football, its all about the points. In an ideal world people will go and watch the kids teams too but they shouldnt be made to feel like they need to go simply to gain understanding, people are already intelligent enough to understand the difference. But as you say, the fans are always supportive and were great again today.
  23. He can speak the language, very well. That quoted comment is based solely on his performance today. Obviously the smallest of samples. If it said, he doesnt look up to standard so he never will be, different argument. But we only have today to base it off, just as if he scored 2, people would say wow he looks incredible which would be equally flawed but wouldnt be jumped on so quickly. We get our first look at him, most naturally gain a first impression. As long as that is an opinion that would change if and when he does well, then no problem. I just think a more constructive way to have debate would be to counter by saying actually he did this or that well, and actually talk about the game, rather than trying to shut people down because they are judging so soon. Its obvious that its based on one game. Hes come from such a low standard and is 23 so young but not really young, and he has come straight into the squad so hes not a kid for later on. Today might be a sign of whats to come, or just part of a settling in period.
  24. I agreed that the one poster was talking shite, as long as it is clarified that it is just one poster and not indicative of a pattern then fine.
  25. No, his previous injury proneness is obviously unfortunately a red flag. And fitness or specific injury, he will have spent the majority of the first quarter of the season unavailable which isnt great. So "at least one poster" was one poster clearly talking rubbish, but that in turn seems to categorize anyone suggesting that he struggled as writing him off.
