  1. Because he isn't a very good manager IMO. A club that regularly challenge for the top 4 need better than a manager primarily responsible for taking a team down.
  2. Set pieces have definitely been an area in which I have been disappointed in a lack of progress under Tomasson in. We don't have much in the way of good delivery but even when Thomas came in we didn't improve, lots of off the cuff short corners that clearly weren't rehearsed. We don't have the biggest team but our centre backs didnt get enough goals either. If we need someone else to come in to help things, so be it.
  3. Rodgers would be a horrendous appointment. Ivan Toney is so lucky not to be banned for so much longer. Betting against his old teams.
  4. It was specifically said that Venkys having initially promised to redo the pitch changed their mind for financial reasons. Simple as that. He certainly wont be let go by the owners as they dont show enough of an interest in the club to sack underperformers.
  5. Totally agree, if he comes in, no way he stays. My worry is how much sentimentality there is in football. What is Dutch for "he knows the club?"
  6. Very left field. Rumoured to be about to join Brighton.
  7. No way will he turn down the champions of Holland who will be in the Champions League, he is a legend there, big pay rise no doubt, more money to spend, family ties, for any challenge here. If they come for him he is gone.
  8. The second paragraph assumptions implies that Venkys are logical people. We are clearly planning on making sales to generate funds, Broughton said as much. And I dont personally really see anyone else in the squad likely to generate much of a fee.
  9. I've no idea, I think it is very difficult to figure out how much he is worth/other teams will pay. I certainly don't think anyone will bid anything like the £20m banded around. My worry is that we are clearly anticipating sales, Broughton made that clear. People talk about selling Gallagher, Travis, Dolan, Edun etc, but they IMO would all fail to attract either interest or certainly a significant fee. The most likely sales are the ones other teams will actually want, Kaminski will be off but even he probably wont generate a big fee. If the only sale that would generate enough to give us a decent sum in the market, I would still decline as he is so important to us and his value will only go up. I really hope he stays.
  10. Plus England Under 21 call ups will likely diminish further the small chance of us keeping him this summer. And yeah, he isnt better than Jones or Ramsey.
  11. Surprising one. Definitely better than Bowyer though.
  12. Can see arguments both to have him sitting where he is brilliant at calmly taking the ball and looking after it (Buckley for example struggles with this in holding midfield) but freeing him up could allow him more freedom, he played behind 2 strikers (with a back 3) against Boro and Birmingham earlier this season and was very good. Ideally we can clone him before pre season and have 3 of him. Will be horrible if we do sell him this summer.
  13. How strange, seems you are right. Sky sports app seems to have shaved the 4 off the -24!
  14. Wouldnt it require a 16/17 goal swing?
  15. Cant see many "twists and turns" on the final day, Everton wont lose at home to Bournemouth. That Mina equaliser was crucial.
  16. Considering we had the former Wales Head of FA at the time, surely we could have known about him as a person?
  17. All for free unless he sells key players elsewhere and weakens other areas to do so.
  18. The cupboard isnt bare, we can sign players for free. Right... The thing is though, sentimentality is rife in football. "Knows the club" and all that, so there is always a chance that even though managers who did better or similar in the second tier this season (Edwards, Robins, Rowett, Mowbray, Carrick) would be laughable to them, Tomasson could well come into the reckoning.
  19. They cant blame covid. They had bids for both Brereton and Rothwell and turned them both down. Well into 8 figures turned away and that will now really impact us. No excuse. And as mentioned, youve just ignored the ground and pitch cut backs that dont even touch FFP.
  20. I asked why he wouldn't have Jones here, for footballing or personal reasons? He suggested both, justifying it by saying that he would want someone to continue with the same style as JDT to build on his work, which I appreciate even if I don't necessarily agree, but I didn't get why the personal stuff makes a difference if that is the reasoning.
  21. Really? So why are him as a person and his "antics" relevant?
  22. Yep, if Feyenoord come in for him, nothing anything can do, he will understandably go. Questions are whether Feyenoord will have a vacancy and then whether they would go for Tomasson.
  23. Seems a bit of a petty reason to dismiss someone, as much as I dislike him as a person myself, I wouldn't say no if he was the best man for the job, but each to their own.
  24. Out of interest, why are you so against Jones? Don't like him as a person or don't rate him despite the job he did at Luton?
  25. I think with Stoke, it was a managerial graveyard at the time, Gary Rowett also failed. The squad there at the time included Jack Butland, Peter Etebo, Tom Ince, Ashley Williams, Joe Allen, Benik Afobe, James McLean, Sam Vokes, Ryan Shawcross, Bruno Martins Indi and Saido Berahino, lots of unshiftable big earners who had come down from the Prem. Our squad is full of low earning, younger players so I don't think those same type of players are here. That being said, I do hope it doesn't come to a managerial change and if it does, I would ideally like a better and less deplorable option than him! Hard to disagree with the last 2 sentences.
