  1. Tomasson has definitely not been aided by poor recruitment by Broughton. In midfield, we needed experience. Broughton opted for Morton who is not what we needed (ie young and not very good) and compounded it by failing to strengthen in January, the O'Brien fiasco being key. Up front, our main target only lasted until January because he was so shit and then he failed to bring in any one else. Hyam has been a very good signing, Szmodics has grown into an important player and we also got an injury prone squad player at full back and an additional joker in Mola. That being said, that doesn't excuse a quite frankly embarassing record from losing positions, 1 point (from a bad goalkeeping error) is simply not good enough and will always create a ceiling on what we can achieve.
  2. Kaminski Brittain Hyam Wharton Pickering Travis Wharton Dolan Szmodics Rankin Costello Brereton Subs: Pears, Carter, Hedges, Gallagher, Morton, Leonard, Garrett
  3. This Sunderland v Hull game is brilliant. Mowbray has twice got them ahead from losing positions.
  4. Would you start Gallagher then?! A huge weakness of Tomasson is dealing with going a goal down. He cannot get us back in games.
  5. Your logic is utterly bizarre. He failed last time hence why he got sacked. Merely knowing the club is no substitute for being a competent manager.
  6. There are a lot of silly rumours about him, that is for sure.
  7. Its absolute rubbish that he has done nothing since. He set up the winner at Hull with a superb pass. He scored the winner v Birmingham and he was excellent v Boro too.
  8. We had this same problem last season where we have a player who has agreed to go elsewhere in the summer yet our owners haven't learnt their lesson and again refused to sell. That being said, we can't drop him because he is our likeliest goalscorer. He should play up front.
  9. He knows some of the players yes, he got sacked for not getting the most of them. How is that positive?
  10. You don't half come up with some imaginative theories to defend the owners. Why would anyone sabotage a deal on purpose? And why don't Venkys get rid of anyone they deem to be doing counterproductive things?
  11. Terrible performance when we needed a big one. Tomasson has a real weakness in being able to get points from losing positions, when Norwich scored the ref may aswell have blown up. Must win on Monday but I can only see a defeat. If we throw away a play off position whereby we were 4 points to go with us having 8 to play and our opponents having 7, then its hard not to directly compare to last season.
  12. Surely we wouldn't be naive enough to go into a season with only one senior keeper.
  13. I doubt they are a Rovers fan otherwise surely they would have a slither of consideration for how inconvenienced we have been.
  14. They will be fuming. Surely between Ledley King, Robbie Keane and Les Ferdinand. In all seriousness, would be a shit appointment.
  15. Kaminski is our best keeper even if it is understandable that Pears has the gloves at the moment. Pears is a solid back up but wouldnt generate much money. Keep them both, 100%. If Pears really wants out, then sign an experienced number 2 and reluctantly sell. No having kids as the number 2.
  16. I am sure we will get the "its not a 3pm game anymore" rubbish ASAP but this is a joke. 1 Saturday 3pm game over the course of (it wil be) 9 months. Not even considering that we are just going for the play offs, not automatic, for Sky to show such disregard to any individual set of fans by selecting any team so much is a farce. Fuck off Sky.
  17. I have no idea how you have come to the conclusion that the overall Chelsea fans are happy to see Lampard back, where is this from? This knows the club nonsense baffles me. Firstly, it was owned by someone totally different when he was there. But what makes Chelsea unqiue to the point that "knowing the club" becomes more important than managerial competence of which he hasnt shown any? What does "knows the club" even mean in terms of usefulness as a football manager? Out of interest, say Jon Dahl Tomasson leaves for Leicester tomorrow. Not saying he will, but if. Would you be happy if we got someone like David Dunn or Tim Sherwood on an interim basis? 2 huge names as players who achieved things, but horrendous managers. I get that it is temporary (talk of him being able to get such a Premier League job off the back of a good month upcoming despite a terrible CV over 3 jobs is hilarious) but a manager as poor as Lampard cannot be the best bet even if it is just a stop gap until better managers become available in the summer. Potter is actually a decent manager, he would be better for this month. Failing that, they could get a manager with a better record even on a temporary basis. Even Big Sam would be a better choice. I can't figure out why you defend Lampard in spite of his managerial record. Either you must be biased having admired him as a player, or it is just because he is English. My only logical conclusions.
  18. This "knowing the club" thing is a line often trotted out but its never particularly logical. Henning Berg knows our club. Colin Hendry knows our club. David Dunn knows our club. You wouldn't take any of them here if Tomasson left. You would naturally prioritise someone who is good at managing a football club and not someone who "knows the club." You say get the fans onside but why do you think that the Chelsea fans who have been used to success be content with a manager coming in even short term who was sacked within the last couple of years, has since been sacked by Everton for poor performance and has never improved a club simply because he was a great player for them?
  19. You are sticking to defending Lampard even now? Knows the club? The same club he was sacked at due to poor performance? Is a fan favourite, why does that matter? Why not get Gianfranco Zola, John Terry or Dennis Wise if that is the case? Did you read the quotes from Michael Keane, that Lampard wouldn't even tell Keane how he could improve, instead saying that he should know what he is doing by now? Proper man management. Lampard is not a very good manager, that is the top and bottom of it and yet still his former playing career seemingly is working wonders with a naive owner desperate to appease the fans in a misguided way. Even keeping Potter until the summer would have been wiser than this.
  20. He is injured so I suspect he means in terms of recovery.
  21. This would be mind blowing. Horrendous idea. There was a quote the other day suggesting that Michael Keane asked him how he could improve and Lampard said he should know by now.
  22. Good that the removal of the 3pm blackout has been ignored for now but "what they know and trust" in Sky means a total lack of consideration and care for match going fans.
  23. 4.5k tickets given. Do we think we will sell out before open sale at £28 a ticket? We don't usually to be fair but away following have been strong lately.
  24. Again, talk about opinions on where you think they are best, fine. Ruling it out because Brereton "doesn't want to" only to move Dolan there instead, clearly a flawed way of thinking to try and justify your opinion by making others' seem a non-starter.
