January Transfer window 2022
roversfan99 replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Has he? I was reading a forum and they seemed split on him and not particularly bothered about him leaving. Have you seen lots of him? You say suspicious but if they was protecting him prior to a move, they wouldn't have played him. As seen many times. It seems money is at a premium. I dont see how he really fits into our formation but surely if it is all agreed for the summer, then Mowbray would prefer to have him now for the sake of a couple of hundred grand. Would agree that a pre agreed summer move is illogical, as an extra option now on the cheap it would make more sense even if it was mainly as a sub ahead of the likes of Butterworth. -

VAR is more accuracy against less flow. People are dead against it but it is the only realistic way to see a noticeable improvement in the accuracy of decisions. -

Russell Martin gets so much credit for playing that way too. Strange. -

I have never said that FFP isnt an issue, just that I dont believe we are on the boundary of it, neither do you if you wanted investment in this window. I also dont understand why people make out as if FFP didnt exist, then Venkys would be spending more, using it as an excuse to defend them. I also have never made out that Rich Sharpe is all knowing. I would agree that he seldom if ever breaks stories, bar perhaps the Markanday one directly from an interview. But when he gets stories quashed, they tend not to happen. He does know more than what is written on here because there hasnt been ITK know how on here in years, although that isnt a problem to me. What and when exactly did he say that we arent spending because of FFP? You are like a dog with a bone regarding FFP. -

Looks like Burnley are close to signing Orsic. I remember seeing him score a hat trick v Spurs in the Europa League. -

Seemingly not the 2 names regularly circulated. Plus Hedges not coming here this month: -

Bournemouth seem to be showing real ambition if they are genuinely interested in Kieffer Moore, Lawrence and Rothwell. For us, no I agree it isnt in our best interest. But for him, money. -

It's what he does, cryptic nonsense. History suggests that he certainly doesn't have insider information. -

That is a hell of a damning indictment as Bell was horrendous. Edun is at least better than Bell IMO but he is a liability himself at left back/left wing back. Agreed with the potential signing of a left (wing) back. -

With stats though, they paint a false picture. We was told last season that the "data" was better than the results and there was an implication that the results would eventually improve, but they didn't. Conversely, our stats are supposedly much poorer this season. In many of the games in our last few months, I have never felt unduly fearful of an imminent goal for the other team. The stats favour teams who hog possession, and also if a team tends to score and see games out, the other team will naturally create chances trying to equalise. -

A bid for a Bournemouth player wouldn't unsettle him, he would almost certainly have to take a considerable wage drop to come here. The reason that it could in theory work with Rothwell is that they could offer wages well beyond our "ceiling." -

No it isnt considering our league position, even if it wasnt a rival. Why is it a "shame?" Would you sell if say it was a foreign team? -

If they sold a key player for a tiny fee to a promotion rival, it would be beyond disgraceful. -

Makes no sense. Who are "they?!" Floating fans who arent that passoniate about supporting Rovers and can take it or leave it and will need enticing in/back in by more than good form. -

https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/19871640.blackburn-rovers-tony-mowbray-hints-new-overseas-signing/ He said of the club’s remaining business: “It’s looking like loans. We’re trying really hard." Sounds like solely loans bar maybe a permanent from abroad and that we cant afford to bring the Hedges deal forward. -

What sort of logic is it that if the owners dont authorise the necessary funds to pay Nyambe whatever he wants, that its down to Mowbray for not pleading enough! Of course but it is quite clear from everything this season that we are working on a very toght budget. When Nyambe is available, he plays, Mowbray has said repeatedly that he wants to keep all of this squad together, negotiations have been had which suggests a willingness from Nyambe that wouldnt exist if he was anything but happy, but we cannot offer any more. So ultimately it is down to money, which is not Mowbrays fault. Zeefuik had a promising cameo but it was very brief and more advanced than he will normally play. I will need to see more before I am sure that a permanent signing would be good. Nyambe of course id love to sign long term. On Edun, he is so rash, a big liability. I wonder if a left wing back is more pressing than a midfielder, freeing up Edun to solely play there when called upon? -
Well done Mowbray, absolutely brilliant tonight with a skeletal squad. Keep up the good work.

Did Edun grew into the game? He was poor throughout, even in the second half his horrendous positioning and rashness saw Jones get behind him so many times. Thankfully his final ball was repeatedly poor. He was better in the last 10-15 minutes to be fair when I felt that Boro put on too many strikers and lost all sense of shape. How has Mowbray got any responsibility in "giving Nyambe what be wants?!" He has repeatedly said that he doesnt get involved in negotiations. Waggott said weve offered as much as he can. Look above him for who to blame. -

He will need a reasonable budget to get 3 signings to "blow our socks off." Lets see how much we spend. Definitely miles off it. Him and Edun were so far off the standard set by every single other player who contributed, Butterworth was so slow and lethargic. Problem is his contract ends at the end of the season. I do wonder if we should sell him for a small fee (with a big sell on) and let him have a career in the lower leagues. Obviously we need a couple of players in but he isnt the answer. I would say going for it would be a big signing, a 4 or 5 million one. An Adebayo or similar. A reasonable window would be perhaps 2 or 3 million, a combination of maybe 3 players, including a loan. Maybe even 2-3m on a single player and a couple of loans. Less would be a very poor window and a lack of ambition.
