  1. Who sent you this? Alan Nixon? A lot of people re hashing the same rumours as their own.
  2. Why do you place so much importance on experience in the league, when one of the 2 examples is of him massively failing? Makes no sense. By that logic, Akpan would be better than Dack. You cant use experience in your argument if its bad experience, as it was at Bristol City. You are basically constantly trying to second guess the manager or the club to ensure that when we sign whoever we sign, you will undoubtedly be 100% positive. Has Mowbray signed anyone in his time here who, when he signed, you felt like we could do better, or you didnt agree with the signing? Out of curiosity. Mowbray spent well over a million last season on Dack, Samuel, Gladwin, Hart etc, therefore if we dont spend more than that, considering we are in a higher league, surely the fans have a right to ask why the club isnt being more ambitious, considering if we dont spend enough we are in risk of going down. No one knows the budget, im not saying it is low, or high, we dont know. Id be disappointed if we didnt make at least 2 signings that are more significant and first team worthy than the 2 we have already signed for peanuts. Because people arent totally convinced as to the quality of those 2. Kent is the type of player we need but unsure regarding the quality/calibre. Positive is his time at Barnsley, but you seem to totally disregard last season for him as if it didnt happen. Gallagher, his season here was the best of his career and he still didnt score enough, and he was next to useless at holding the ball up and being the target man I expected. How do you think Bradley Dack will do this season, out of interest? Factoring in his lack of Championship experience?
  3. Why Chapman or a cheap centre back? 2 totally different positions. Isnt that more that you dont think that we have that much to spend full stop? Its not much in the scheme of things but could make the difference between being in the thick of a relegation battle and looking upwards.
  4. Mentioned by @Butty at the top of the page. I definitely think we need a pacy, direct winger. Im just unconvinced by his lack of success in previous loans and also the risk is how Liverpool penalised Bristol City and youd presume us for not playing him. So it has to be a success. Dont want to play him just to avoid being penalised. Lets hope so. We will never know the terms. I can understand it from Liverpools side to ensure hes playing. It may force Mowbrays hand to start him, weve seen with Chapman and Payne that he sometimes does handle pacy or flair players with caution, perhaps too much especially in Chapmans case last season. You might guess that his initial inclination would be to use him as a sub (due to lack of alternatives at the moment hed have to start anyway) so financial penalties might force his hand. Attitude problems at Barnsley commented on by @Butty Because its a loan signing of a player who hardly set the world alight at Barnsley and whose career has regressed with poor loan spells at Freiburg and in particular, Bristol City. You cant just overlook that to suit your argument. It is a risk yes, bigger than many loans assuming Liverpool insist on similar clauses which seem to be common now. He does tick a lot of boxes in terms of a pacy, direct winger so im happy with that but there are big questions about his end product, stats prove this with a lack of goals and assists. Form and potential financial penalties are my primary concerns. All depends on the other signings. If we sign a couple of permanent attacking players to go with him and hes just one of our various options then it could be a shrewd signing. If hes amidst a series of loans then we may have a problem. As a standalone signing its a jury still out, could go either way.
  5. That does surprise me! Hes a quick, direct winger so he ticks a lot of boxes in that we dont have anything similar. So I can understand to an extent. There are a lot of big question marks however. He would be on loan so we need to make sure we also sign some more permanent signings. Need at least one permanant winger and forward to come in. Bristol City were fined for not playing him as @Tom pointed out so what if its the same here? There are big question marks about his attitude which goes against Mowbrays insistence on not taking on anyone who could upset the dresssing room. His time at Bristol City was a disaster, he was terrible. His time at Freiburg was equally poor. Hes never consistently impressed anywhere so its a big gamble. If he does sign I will be underwhelmed, I am glad he will bring pace and directness as an option but there are many potential issues. That said, its just a rumour so I will wait and see.
  6. No pace at all. We need pacy attacking players. Billy Jones set to join Rotherham for free. May have been good competition for Nyambe at right back.
  7. And Mason Mount. An experienced side with 2 sprinklings of exciting, attacking quality to go on top, loan signings that they would never be able to afford permanently, thats how to use the loan system. Cant be too reliant on it.
  8. Cant believe thats been put in the links thread ? Theres no player name! Just a chancer threatening a story. Holmes would be decent, Cotterill too slow and not good enough. The calibre we should be looking at, would be very happy with it but have we been directly linked?
  9. Thanks. Totally agree about idiots on social media but there will always be them. Evans is totally out of order for his comments but I dont need an apology as he didnt do it to me and also calls for him to be sold on the back of this are going too far IMO. Still do find you suggesting or implying that he was abused beforehand based on nothing prior to this as really strange and difficult to explain.
  10. The key thing I took issue with is you ASSUMING that the fans abused him BEFORE he said what he said. Something youve still been unable to clear up. In my opinion, youve made this up to suit your narrative of lambasting the fans which I dont understand. When do fans give out about him at games? Where have you got this from as I must miss it every time. Im not saying that fans havent gone over the top on social media, they will do but I could understand why the ones who were there are so annoyed. I dont agree that he should be sold about it and Ive no doubt that people will have over reacted and like I said if anyone has taken it too far with "savage abuse" or mentioned his family (do you have proof of this?) then I dont even slightly condone it. But I do think that hes out of order for saying what he said to fans who are spending good money to watch the team in a pre season friendly and I cant understand why you are making up prior antagonisation from supporters to justify Evans' behaviour.
  11. Not sure thats stubbornness. He might have impressed in pre season thus far but im not sure thatll be enough to start him in the Championship. Evans was impressive in the last month or 2 of last season, Smallwood was our most consistent midfielder in general, add Davenport into the mix and id be surprised if Travis started.
  12. Everyone has said that its a load of rubbish! Who is beating themselves up over it?
  13. Quite clearly a rehash of existing rumours with a couple of made up figures added for that itk flavour.
  14. I understand the World Cup thing in terms of teams not loaning their players out as they need them whilst their World Cup players are yet to return or be signed. However, it is difficult not to infer from that latest interview that we are ONLY looking at loans which would be a big worry.
  15. Things like saying we need to replace Feeney, or that we lied about budgets etc, I do think thats OTT. However I dont understand why so many fans are insistent on shooting down those who are saying that we are currently weaker than we were last season, people cannot underestimate the importance going forward that the loans had on our season last year. Im not disregarding that some of our younger players have improved in the last year. Also being constantly told that we are being negative or unrealistic, its not ire necessarily aimed at the manager, and is it really unrealistic to suggest that not every signing (for example Gallagher) are not in some peoples eyes good enough, or that we need to spend a bit (which we have on Dack in the League below for example) to improve us. We are basing this all on rumour really too, Mowbray has said before I think that there is money to spend. No ones expecting 5 million buys or whatever so its unfair to keep shooting down people with the unrealistic or negative tag.
  16. I know that I wouldnt automatically assume that the fans were to blame when the only information at hand is that BEFORE the game he bemoaned that the team always seem to stop where the fans are en route to an away game. Why would you randomly assume that the fans saw the team they had paid good money to travel to watch a friendly to see at the services and instantly start with a tirade of abuse. Its an unfounded and unfair assumption thats understandably got the backs up of the people on here that have read it. Im not particularly affected as I didnt go or wasnt insulted directly so im not going to go round saying he shouldnt play for us again etc but I can understand why those who were there when he said it are so offended. You seem particularly eager to shoot down and think bad of our loyal fans, and if im not mistaken you dont attend matches so are basing these opinions solely on internet personas. (And obviously I also dont condone abuse to his family. He has brought on the stick himself)
  17. Totally agree. Sessegnon we can be fairly confident will play at least a full season as a starter in the Premier League. Assuming we continue with 3 at the back, and with Youngs age and Rose being really poor throughout the last year, including the games he played at the world cup (awful defending for both Januzaj and Meuniers goals), theres a place at left wing back that he should look to try and nail down. The others. Lookman had a decent spell in Germany but its half a season only. Mount seemingly had a good season in a very poor league, needs to go out and play somewhere. Sancho isnt a Dortmund starter is he? For all the praise he gets for moving abroad will he play enough? Foden again theres massive question marks on game time. England tend to produce players "destined for big things" that dont seem to play. Sessegnon is the only one from that list who has proven he has a goos chance of bucking that trend.
  18. It is a fair question, why are you making random allegations (unless you have some information yourself?) that Rovers "idiot" fans were giving him abuse?
  19. I feel like "completely rebuilding the team" is a bit of an exaggeration; I actually feel that his work in the transfer market has been very hit and miss, in particular his permanent signings. I think that the crux of Mowbrays good work was how he used the squad that was already here, many of whom were under performing for various reasons in the year before, Raya, Nyambe, Lenihan, Mulgrew, Williams, Evans, Conway, Bennett and Graham, with the only significant improvements to our first team being Dack and Smallwood. Aside from this, hes brought in Samuel, Downing and Bell as squad players and Gladwin and Hart who arent even good enough to do that. Of course he wisely sprinkled in some loans to give us some punch in attack who have since departed. I just want to take issue really to the sentence "Some fans need to be realistic about the job that Mowbray has to do here." We all want to see a squad improved from the one that was a League 1 squad last year, and failed in the Championship the year before. We have lost Armstrong, Chapman, Payne and Antonsson from last season, and we need to at least be going into the season with a squad thats equal to what we had last year. Its a point ive made with chaddy numerous times, its no good settling for players that wont improve us, just to cater for potential budget restraints. If potential signings wouldnt improve us, in peoples opinions, then to be realistic is not a viable argument to come back with. If the signings we do we make are clearly as a result of a restricted budget, then people are likely to be more unhappy towards the owners than the manager anyway, so theres no need to be apologetic on his behalf.
  20. He definitely did. I remember an away game at Swansea in particular where he couldnt be bothered, which regardless of the manager, is not acceptable. He won the player of the season in his first season, I dont think people thought he was poor, more lazy and had a bad attitude, which led to a large spell of below par performances.
  21. But you have to look at the age of the team. Only really Giroud from that starting 11, maybe Matuidi, they might have another tournament in them max, most of the squad are actually at the start of their development and should improve further. They seem to know what to do to win already, countries like Spain, Germany and Brazil have teams more reliant on experience than youth.
  22. Its an international tournament, that they won their group in, and efficiently won every knockout game in 90 minutes. You need a bit of fortune, but their team is brilliantly balanced, defensively solid in the main, quality in midfield, and has 2 star players working around a target man. Im not sure what else you can ask for. Probably because he downed tools, which is unforgivable. Im guessing from the "fans" aspect of your post that you are on a wind up, as you dont lose your right to become a fan by not rating someone.
  23. Just because people dont have a detailed scouting list of potential transfer targets under their arm doesnt mean they have to be satisfied with the targets linked through transfer rumours. You need to realise this. Was a joke chaddy. Chill out.
  24. I understand your point in regards to its the application of VAR rather than VAR itself, but could you not argue that it is better in theory than it is in practice? The time it takes and other minor points may be ironed out but even with VAR, these sort of issues will always exist in terms of how the human referee uses it, or how the human team in the room judge whether the referee should use it or not. The fact that VAR is the main talking point in the first World Cup Final that it has been in use in suggests that surely its not usable.
  25. Very well is a massive exaggeration. All 4 players linked by Alan Nixon are the ones you want...maybe @Tom was on to something...
