  1. Well obviously, both are just rumours but who is more likely to be right? Waggott will be thinking of ways to further inconvenience and fleece the fans!
  2. Rich sharpes rehashed article today says buys too, maybe higher than Dacks fee. Nixon thinks just loans. Who do you think is right?
  3. Its a bizarre and inconsistent theory. Dack hasnt played any Championship football, hes our best player. Jason Lowe has loads, same with Hope Akpan, both rubbish. Ashley Fletcher has very little, of which all is negative, yet he wants to sign him. Armstrong hasnt been that successful in the past in the Championship, yet he wants to sign him. Chapman, has he played in the Championship? If he has, very little experience, yet he wants him. Maddison, Edwards, Adelakun? No he doesnt want them as they dont have the elusive Championship experience. If a player has been successful in this league, then yes, its a positive. But players who have played in this league and been below the quality needed, are not better than those that have yet to play but have been very successful in other leagues, just by saying "Championship experience."
  4. We will see. You mention Hugill but they sold him in Jan, hes not the best of players and they had Maguire who looks a far better and more prolific striker and pushed them higher in the table. They are another example to us that even with little money, quality is out there. And who has said that they dont trust Mowbray? No one has. Any distrust is understandably at the feet of our terrible owners. If we dont spend anything/a competitive amount the brunt of the blame will end up at their door. That said, there have been cheap deals and loan deals that have already taken place to show you can get decent players on a budget but thats a conversation for another day. As pointed out previously, you are getting as impatient and panicky as anyone based on your pestering of journalists and supposed people who claim they know transfer news.
  5. 11th, 11th and 7th are Prestons last 3 finishes. Can you please say why you think they wont finish around there again, and if you think that they will finish below us? Turned themselves into a consistent top half Championship side, far ahead of us at the moment sadly. Agree that we should judge him on who he signs. But no one has said otherwise. Need to sign 4 players that combined, are better than Armstrong/Chapman/Payne/Antonsson to be better than last season. Armstrong over Harrison? Totally agree, but hes not our player so its irrelevant!
  6. Hugill isnt very good. Seani Maguire is a far better player IMO. Cummingham will be a miss but Ledson (far more highly rated than Rothwell) will be a good accompaniment to Pearson and Browne, and they have plenty of attacking options.
  7. Fair enough, thats your choice but im not going work off any presumptions that anyone knows our exact budget. If you believe what unleaded has said I presume you are mad at Mowbray for convincing the owners to spend less than what they initially planned? Regarding Fletcher, firstly im not convinced that Alan Myers has his finger on the pulse seeing as he left Rovers a few years ago, so not convinced the story is true. (Not calling him a liar either before you say it) Like I said, hes also not a loan whose at a Prem club as per what Mowbray has said. Samuel and Nuttall have pace, and neither of them are good enough for us. Pace isnt enough, and hes not provided a goal threat. His goal return thus far is pitiful. I find it slightly hypocritical that you are writing off my opinion implying that I havent seen them enough, considering your defiant views on the likes of Maddison and Kent, negative and positive, when you havent seen them play. I would say his career has kick on due to never had time to settle down play for a full season or 2 - that maybe the case to an extent, but hes never done anything to suggest that hes a good Championship player, anytime soon. He may have some raw attributes but the likelihood is that hed be on loan anyway. Preston have done well in this league for a couple of years and are well ahead of us. Sheffield Wednesday settled down towards the end of last season once their best players, Bannan, Lees, Forestieri etc returned to fitness and again both of them are well ahead of where we are now. That said, there are some pretty poor teams at the moment, Bolton, Rotherham, Birmingham etc, but we are amongst them at the moment with our non existent attack. Sign players like Fletcher and I still see us amongst them, sign better and youd think we would finish above the likes of these.
  8. He might be, but based on the evidence we have about his career to date, which we are naturally going to talk about on an opinion driven messageboard, theres nothing to suggest it. Danny Graham is a bizarre example. He had a proven track record. He had 2 good seasons at Watford, scoring a combined total of 38. He then moved to Swansea and got a dozen goals in the Premier League. He had a bad time at Sunderland, like Fletcher (if I recall Graham was often played wide there) but unlike Fletcher, he had a career prior to it with plenty of evidence to suggest that he could be a very shrewd acquisition. Sadly, baseless posts such as these with no actual purpose or constructive point to it have half the messageboard eating out of their hands. You cant say that accurately, as because it was over a short period, against many teams (Villa, Brentford, Reading, Wolves etc) with nothing to play for. We will see.
  9. Room for improvement is practically an irrelevance when the player is a loan, which he almost certainly will be. And hes never shown any real signs of quality for any of the 4 clubs hes been at. Barnsley was his best spell and even there in League 1, he was far from prolific. We have to be able to get better, otherwise we may as well persist with Nuttall and Samuel.
  10. Its all guesswork and rumour. I pay no notice of such random figures, not to offend anyone on here before you say im calling people liars. If you choose to believe the rumours then fair enough. Only reason we are discussing what we think of the budget is because we have nothing tangible to talk about, ie transfers! In regards to todays rumour, us scouting Ashley Fletcher ahead of signing him up, a definite no from me, we could have just been looking at someone else, ie Chapman. Its all well and good saying hes not settled at Sunderland or whatever but across his career, nothing about it shouts that he will be a good addition at Championship level. Id be surprised however as it doesnt fit into Mowbray saying that his loans were on hold until their Prem parent clubs came back from their pre-season tours etc.
  11. Even before that. And we hardly have loads of creative players to create chancea for him.
  12. Ashley Fletcher would be a very poor signing. His goal record is shocking. Hope we are looking at much better than that. Saw him a couple of times for Sunderland and he isnt nearly good enough.
  13. If thats the plan lets hope we do sign someone! Id rather play Conway and thats saying something. You mention McGoldricks injury record but Rothwell is no better... That radio link is probably rubbish. Not seen much of Harrison, where have you seen him and what sort of player is he? No evidence of interest in Josh Sims but I could see him being a good signing if its accompanied by a couple of permanent signings. Played a couple of games in the first team for Southampton at the end of the season and would add some much needed pace.
  14. Think hes a good signing at this level. The market is what it is. Stoke I think will win the title. McLean im not as sure about.
  15. Chaddy, you hound journalists for updates on an almost hourly basis... Lets hope we have something to talk about properly, soon! For all our sanity!
  16. Maybe you are right in that we havent gone for frees and loans although Mowbray has gone on record saying that he is looking for loans. I believe that them 4 players would have all added to our attack but id like to think that we could get better players than those 4, although im not convinced. I listed them as examples of players that could have been brought to the club cheaply, of course the Maddisons and Armstrongs would be better options but also cost more, money im not convinced we will spend. Fact of the matter is we will know by the end of next week (is that when the window closes) as to how weve done in the market, particularly in comparison to the team we ended last season with. I think people suspecting we have no money are entitled to think that in that Venkys have caused such distrust within the fanbase. No need to overreact to the words of someone with a track record of talking shite though!
  17. There are players like Maddison (2.5m release clause confirmed by his chairman) and Armstrong (unwanted by Newcastle), if we had a bit of ambition and bought both or even 1 we would be able to look at Millwall, Preston and Sheffield United and see no reason why we cant do similar this season. They would give us a whole new dimension, along with a couple of loan signings too. No rational thought would suggest that we would go out and spend that sort of money, Venkys previous negligence and money spent, Mowbrays repetitive comments, the fact we have been so slow in the market. Thats why however, ive been fairly surprised that weve seen the likes of Adelakun, Edwards, Wildshut, McGoldrick etc go to similar clubs for peanuts and ive been a bit surprised that weve not got any of them. Nixon talks crap so im not basing this on his stab in the dark tweet at all. Likelihood is, we will start this season weaker than we ended the last because Armstrong is such a big miss, thats before you consider Payne and Antonsson. (even though I didnt rate him he scored 7 or 8 goals) I'm sure we will get some bodies through the door but id be surprised if they were as effective as them 3. Let see.
  18. Yeah, nor is he clever enough. Both Graham and Dack are brilliant at sticking their arse in between the ball and defender and shielding it.
  19. Agreed. He may be 6 foot odd but hes very weak and flimsy.
  20. Not long enough to be able to spell his name correctly Hes not mobile enough to play that role Btw I think your panicking over our transfer business has led you into using some sort of foreign keyboard...
  21. May I ask why you think that? Rothwells goal contributions are less impressive than those I mentioned, and he lacks the pace and mobility that a lot of them would have offered. Not saying he wont be a good signing but hed struggle to get into the team now as hes a natural central player, where we are strongest. Davenport has played less than 20 games of senior football. I am quite excited from what ive read but again its in the area we are strong and he lacks pedigree. Ive seen Nmecha's name amongst others banded about and again im not sure a player whose barely kicked a ball in a competitive match on a season long loan is what we are crying out for. It would be a 1 or a 2 at the moment as basically none of the main issues have been addressed and we basically have no pace, width, excitement/flair (bar Dack) and wouldnt score enough goals. But its a totally moot and pointless rating because as I am constantly told, judge at the end of the window! This isnt me being negative or anything either, my point is its still all up in the air, but the players I named (plus McGoldrick) will only be mentioned again if our signings are sub par. Feel like far too much is made of Mowbray being this lovely, honest man. Every manager works hard. The reason hes so popular is because hes been successful here, and if he hadnt have been, no one would be calling him honest and genuine! Definitely another player where I thought, wonder why Mowbray wasnt in first. Question marks for sure, mainly injury proneness in his case, but all signings we make where we are now will have question marks. Now im not necessarily saying this sole individual is a big miss, maybe the cons outweigh the pros, but its another player whose gone to a club youd think at a push we could compete with. Neither are what we should be aiming for. Im not sure what you mean chaddy by Sharp doesnt fit the way we play, what way is that, we havent signed our attack yet so how do you know our style of play?! Our current attack is really slow and laborious so hed fit in perfectly at his age! That said, I do agree he would be a poor choice, as would Gallagher who youve only started mentioning in due to the very tenuous link of someone hearing something on some radio station. And he is pitiful at winning flick ons etc, scoring a couple of headers doesnt change that.
  22. Who has said that they are envious of Wigans transfer dealings?! Players like Adelakun, Edwards, Wildshut, and also (although I wouldnt have really wanted them personally, Harrison, Eisa, McManaman and Oztumer) are the main names that people have pointed out that were potentially obtainable that have gone to rivals. Individual players, showing that potential improvements are out there on the cheap. No one is saying that we should just sign any old player. Signings like the ones I mentioned will be the benchmark for ones we can do. No one has said theyve made a final judgement now on the transfer window. Can you please stop peddling this myth whilst constantly repeating the usual crap, negativity, happy clapper etc. People have pointed out that Mowbray said he wanted his business done early, weve started slowly in the last 2 seasons, and obviously the number of interviews hes done about deals not getting over the line suggest that hed have liked to get them done hisself in an ideal world. People will always be understandably and rightfully skeptical of what the owners do next. Its clear you are on the wind up. If we sign good players and spend a bit of money between now and the window closing, you know for a fact that everyone will be happy. Stop purposefully winding people up.
  23. Evans was very good in the last month of the season, Mowbray described him as our best player in that last month so id be shocked if he doesnt start the Ipswich game.
  24. Baseless, provocative rubbish. Ive given 3 reasons below as to why people have genuine reason to be concerned. No one has said that they wont judge him at window end either.
  25. No one has said that they wont be judging at the end of the window. People have made the valid points below and its hardly as if people are panicking by saying these things: Players that would have improved us have to rival clubs. Venkys are notorious for turning off the tap and stunting our chances of progression. So thats a valid concern. That ideally players would be here to bed in during pre-season, especially considering Mowbray stating as such at the beginning, and considering our slow starts in each of the previous 2 years.
