https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/66958019 I cant blame the guy for doing this, we are all quick to spend other peoples money and moan about then not putting in millions more to sign players etc. I cant see a similar situation from Venkys though, purely because they simply dont communicate to fans/media so we wouldnt know either way!

Jon Dahl Tomasson - Sweden coach
roverblue replied to Tom's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/23809606.jon-dahl-tomasson-disagrees-blackburn-rovers-criticism/ Worrying statements from JDT here, we are clearly playing too open and being overrun in midfield in the last 3 games. If he doesnt see it then we are in for more of the same every week. -

Only caught the last 20mins but played out as expected pre-game. The ‘We’re gonna score one more than you’ tactics are shit and JDT needs a rethink before we find ourselves in bother. -

Not very hopeful given their good start and our defensive issues. We will no doubt create some chances but seem to have no luck with them going in. I predict another entertaining ding dong but ultimately a loss on the road. Be good if we can get some minutes in Siggy, Tronsted and Telalovic we need these guys to make an impact quickly. -

The writing was on the wall when we failed to score in the first 30mins, playing some of the best football I’ve seen at Ewood for a long time. Sunderland had all the luck and scored 3 goals with their 3 shots on goal. Once Travis went off it all went to shit, we have a team of players that can’t tackle other than the back 4. Without him in the side we look really vulnerable and did at Boro on Saturday too. It’s early days but concerning with how many goals we concede with this hung ho approach. Especially when we can’t score for shit at the other end. The whole season is going to hinge on how good the signings turn out to be once fit as the current 11 definitely don’t have the goals in them. -

Hoping to see Telalovic start but pretty sure it will be Leonard based on his early appearances this season -

Yep its a great idea, in fact its exactly how Rovers got me in the hook in the early 90's when we went there on a school trip and gave us all free tickets for the remainder of the season. We should be all over something similar if the club had any strategic planning at all. -

I just asked my mate and its actually 5, you can get 4 child (11 or under) for free with one paying season ticket holder. -

I think for every paying PNE season ticket holder as well as being £100 cheaper than ours in the summer you also could get 3 free child season tickets. So numbers are likely boosted via that whether they attend or not. -
Sam Szmodics-Your thoughts?
roverblue replied to BRFC4EVA's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
He also brings more to the team than just being a good player who gives 100% every game. If you watch him off the ball or when its out of play he is constantly berating his team mates or dishing out instructions. Would make a great captain. -

Good performance, should have been 5 or 6 with boro shocking at the back. Made hard work of the last 15 mins, no tackling in midfield and the new lad Moran may as well have sat in the stands he was that anonymous. Pears, Hyam and Carter were top class today and prob got us the 3 in the end. With a another class performance from Sammy who is in my eyes our best player these days. -
This is also true, basically if you have a large fanbase or target fanbase (e.g. larger city based clubs) it works in your favour to the detriment of smaller town clubs like ours. There was talk of abandoning the parachute payment system with an even spread down the leagues, this would be a good start in increasing turnover for all clubs. A salary cap would be a good next step in my eyes to stop any extra being gobbled up by players and agents.
-
Where do you think the money will go then?
-
Yeah totally agree, for whatever reason our owners although apparently billionaires don't want to do anything more than cover basic costs. Although even that incredibly still amounts to £20m of losses per year to them which is the ridiculous state of football. Realistically the only way to mitigate that is to both increase turnover and pump out an Adam Wharton/Adam Armstrong every year. Unless there is some massive cost that can be reduced we don't know about it (Waggots salary for a start).
-
Unfortunately, yes. The life of a championship club
-
You would expect a chunk to go back into the club to cover some costs. It would be better if they just came out and were honest about what % of sales we actually get to re-invest as a strategy rather than making it up as they go along like this summer. As much as I dislike Venky's it's not sustainable for them or anyone else to sink £20m per year just to keep the club in existence.
-
Based on Greggs comments it sounds fairly certain that Wharton is going next summer (unless we perform a miracle and go up) so that brings in another £15m plus to play with (plus the £5 Raya cash). So next summer is shaping up as a major opportunity to find the next big things and spend some cash.
-
Not condoning the 15% wage cut but I am sure I read both on here and in the newspapers that squads have to cut their turnover to wage ratio to 75% or something in the near future. So whilst a ball ache this summer it might have a positive from that perspective?

Interesting bit about standards slipping under Ince. You could see it on match days, really lucky we acted so fast to get in Big Sam or I reckon we would have gone down. -

Watched the first hour and we should have scored 4 or 5. Some awful attempts at finishing, Hedges especially then others guilty of trying to pass it into the net instead of shooting. Take some responsibility! looks a shit result on paper but if we had gone ahead would have been an easy win. Get some bodies back over the break and see a good run put together next. -

Three bits of shocking defending for the red card and both goals. Just punts downfield nothing special and the defence all over the place. Got to improve on that, especially conceding two at Rotherham last week as well. we looked a lot better when Gally and Ennis came on.
