January Transfer Window.
BigUts replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Rovers don't owe anybody 200m or whatever the figure. That's all share capital so unless somehow that was converted in to a loan to the tune of, we would basically be debt free. -
It's sad that we don't have an organised pressure group any more for these things to be brought to attention and would really implore someone with the drive, passion and determination to fight the good fight again. I'm certainly not that person and @glen9mullan did an incredible job nearly a decade a go and I can understand why you you couldn't invest so much of your being again. We have become so trodden down as a fanbase, much the same as the country as a whole at the moment, that we've become apathetic and disinterested. The guy running the club is quite obviously way out of his depth and its sad that traditionally much smaller or similar sized clubs are sprinting past us. The 'Taking Back Ewood' initiative under Williams was amazing and created a great buzz around the ground. I recall being unable to get a season ticket in the Blackburn End without my mates brother signing his over to me, as he embarked on Saturday football so could no longer attend. Seeing Ewood with even 5k extra fans on a regular basis becomes a self perpetuating circle of attendance growth. People come more because the atmopshere is good and the ground is busier and as a consequence....you get the picture. Season tickets should be priced at £299 next season and £100 for kids. Get people in the door and they will spend cash. I get lumped with buying my lad a bag of sweets a drink and some chips every game and myself a couple of pints. Multiply that up by many thousands and the saving on STs will soon be put in another door with much higher margins attached. Anyone got Swaggs email so I can start moaning to him in anticipation?

I think Broughton is probably capable of sealing a deal for a good player but is hamstrung by the financial constraints the club are under and the budgets that are set by the Raos. -

In a weird way, BBD having his contract already sorted might help us. He has seemed so tentative in recent weeks and possibly worrying about any serious injury. If his contract is already signed maybe he won't be so worried about it. On the other hand, he now has zero incentive to do the goods on the pitch for us. Imagine we get promoted and he is already off to La Liga and missing out on the riches and exposure of the PL... -

Didn't realise these statistics were so poor. He is definitely used as the quarter back at the moment but as you've said here he lacks so much physically that he isn't able to imprint himself on a game. So often his passes are so deep he is unlikely to ever get an assist unless someone goes on a mazy run. His technical skills are undoubted but the physicality is definitely his Achilles. I'm a big, big fan of Buckley (mainly because my young son thinks he's a hero) but when he was in the side before his sending off he looked like he was starting to show his craft. His return this Saturday will be key IMHO. -

Not even registering on the radar for me. Play the kids. -
Cheers y'all. I'm already a member of the Undr The Cosh and The Cost of Football fraternities but my intrest in something more Rovers specific was piqued by a good one ran by some Southport fans and wondered if I was missing something. @Herbie6590 I'll shall look forwards to it! And maybe a few of us should get together and try and do a more regular gig as there seems to be a bit of a gap in the market, so to speak!

More of a question then anything. I know BRFCS [ir]regularly produce their own wonderful podcast series, but are there any other Rovers related ones that are regularly produced? After much trawling on Spotify and the wider interweb I can't seem to come across any so any pointers in the right direction would be wonderful! Cheers!

Got a half ST for both me and my son as per last season. Really hope they make the full ST a max of £299 next season. £400 feels like a hell of a lot of dosh at the moment as was mooted in the summer and things are only going to get worse in that regard over the next few months.

Disagree. We looked short physically in the middle of the park on Tuesday vs. Cov and playing Travis at right wing back for nearly the whole game was an absolutely bonkers choice when we had Brittain playing left back. I think Travis has actually had a below average season so far with some sprinklings of better performances, but we missed his guile on Tuesday. -
Just called to ask about Half Season Tickets as they are usually out around the first week of November. Apparently, they're imminent and there will be an announcement late this week / beginning of next. Hopefully we get a few being taken up as we did last year!
-
Fortunately didn't see the 1st half, but literally everyone to a man stunk the place out. Didn't make sense to me to have Brittain at left back and Travis at right. We need Travis in there to break it up and add a little bit of know how and twa7tyness. For all his talent the young lad A.Wharton had a bit of a stinker tonight but acknowledge that's very much to be expected given his tender years. Hirst was genuinely dire. First touch is abysmal and is so heavy he nearly sends it back to where it came most of the time.

A little snippet at the start of the Price of Football pod cast today about the sale of Brockhall to Venky's and how the cash has not yet been paid (but no panic it seems).

100% agree on the Vale vs. Dack point. Vale is miles off the pace and Dack would at least give us a scoring chance. Dack would be a great bench player to have about the squad IMO, but I guess he won't want that and JDT, Broughton et al. may think having a player on the books who is earning big bucks in relative terms being a bench player isn't sustainable (which I would agree with). -

Quite a striking comment. I would say Gallagher has been very good in the last 4/5 games and seems to be operating more centrally. He appears to utilising his attributes much more readily, making better use of his frame, height and pace. As I said to my chum after Birmingham on Saturday; he's becoming the bastard we always wanted him to be. Dack could in no way fill that position based on his own physical attributes. -
I know a little about this subject... Sometimes the cost of insuring players is so very prohibitive that clubs effectively insure themselves, creating a slush fund of each player's premium to help cover their behind if and when of them succumbs to something serious; they can then dip in to said fund for things like transfers when the time is deemed acceptable to do so.
