  1. Got a half ST for both me and my son as per last season. Really hope they make the full ST a max of £299 next season. £400 feels like a hell of a lot of dosh at the moment as was mooted in the summer and things are only going to get worse in that regard over the next few months.
  2. Disagree. We looked short physically in the middle of the park on Tuesday vs. Cov and playing Travis at right wing back for nearly the whole game was an absolutely bonkers choice when we had Brittain playing left back. I think Travis has actually had a below average season so far with some sprinklings of better performances, but we missed his guile on Tuesday.
  3. Just called to ask about Half Season Tickets as they are usually out around the first week of November. Apparently, they're imminent and there will be an announcement late this week / beginning of next. Hopefully we get a few being taken up as we did last year!
  4. Fortunately didn't see the 1st half, but literally everyone to a man stunk the place out. Didn't make sense to me to have Brittain at left back and Travis at right. We need Travis in there to break it up and add a little bit of know how and twa7tyness. For all his talent the young lad A.Wharton had a bit of a stinker tonight but acknowledge that's very much to be expected given his tender years. Hirst was genuinely dire. First touch is abysmal and is so heavy he nearly sends it back to where it came most of the time.
  5. Wasn't a red. Looked like the young lad didn't go in with two straight legs to me.
  6. Born Slippy is an absolutely great shout!!
  7. A little snippet at the start of the Price of Football pod cast today about the sale of Brockhall to Venky's and how the cash has not yet been paid (but no panic it seems).
  8. 100% agree on the Vale vs. Dack point. Vale is miles off the pace and Dack would at least give us a scoring chance. Dack would be a great bench player to have about the squad IMO, but I guess he won't want that and JDT, Broughton et al. may think having a player on the books who is earning big bucks in relative terms being a bench player isn't sustainable (which I would agree with).
  9. Quite a striking comment. I would say Gallagher has been very good in the last 4/5 games and seems to be operating more centrally. He appears to utilising his attributes much more readily, making better use of his frame, height and pace. As I said to my chum after Birmingham on Saturday; he's becoming the bastard we always wanted him to be. Dack could in no way fill that position based on his own physical attributes.
  10. I know a little about this subject... Sometimes the cost of insuring players is so very prohibitive that clubs effectively insure themselves, creating a slush fund of each player's premium to help cover their behind if and when of them succumbs to something serious; they can then dip in to said fund for things like transfers when the time is deemed acceptable to do so.
  11. Dack seems to have been improving more and more as player the more and more he hasn't played. He was an excellent, top drawer Championship player before his first injury. Sadly, he hasn't shown anything like his underlying talent since his return last season. He did indeed change the game vs. Cov last season, but within his many othhr cameos both before and since he has sadly done very little IMO. In some of these situations, JDT et al. will be seeing his application, effort and prowess on a daily basis and they are certainly best placed to make a decision on whether he should even be involved; and given the league position its hard to argue. Szmodics seems to be getting a tough time from some as he is being portrayed as some sort of villain because he's keeping Dack out of the team. I get the impression from JDT that he doesn't seem to have favourites and if you're in form, you're in the team. IMHO Bradley needs to probably drop down a level and get a consistent run of games under his belt. I'm sure in the days of the "emergency" loan system he would be at a top-end L1 club as we speak, getting some senior competitive game time. His mouthpiece of a fiancée also speaking out on Tuesday probably tells us all we need to know; something has gone on and he isn't happy and the writing seems on the wall.
  12. Rovers 3 - 1 Big Club We will go down early doors but rally to put the brummies to the sword.
  13. W*gan Athletic 1 - 3 Rovers Nyambe (4) BBD (42) (P) Hirst (87) Dack (90+3) Its written the stars that Nyambe played a bazillion games for us with no goal and the first game against us he scores.
  14. I think the fact is that all 3 aren't actually THAT good but most of the frustration comes from the fact that all 3 have left for nothing. I didn't cry over any of them going, although I think it would have been prudent to keep Nyambe as he can cover a couple of positions and I think he would have complimented a back 3 given his size and pace (see Walker for England). I'll be amazed if Rothwell ever becomes a regular starter for Bournemouth and I'm sure he will get loaned out in January, and Lenihan has never really been that great IMHO. He's an average defender with diabolical distribution
  15. Fantastic news about young Ash. He clearly has huge potential and his size means he didn't look too out of place in the back-to-back games he played recently. However; he obviously still needs to be eased in to the side and I think he has taken a very sensible decision career wise to stay with us. He will get games and I genuinely think Broughton and JDT will help nurture his talent in a sensible and managed way. Still needs lots of development and experience to be a first team regular but that will come in time by getting more minutes in the first team in a managed way.
  16. We pressed well last night and made a good Watford side look very ordinary. I said to those around me that at the end of the first half they looked completely disinterested even bereft. I think we made them look that rather then them having an off day. Hedges was mustard and fully deserved his MOTM award. BBD looked off it to me and he and Pickering didn't seem to gel well together. When Pickering did get the ball through to him Ben seemed unable to really bring the ball under his spell. Dolan was his usual hardworking self and presumably started for merit after his decent cameo vs Bristol City. His pressing and harrying are incredibly useful and help us squeeze much further up the pitch. Travis also played very well last night and as always looked much better in the middle. Morton also coming to the fore. I am a HUGE fan of Buckley but he will quite rightly need to step up if he wants to get back in the side. His time will come but he will need to take the opportunity.
  17. Really good show from many out there tonight. A very, very pleasing performance and victory!
  18. Kaminski - 4 - got beaten far too easily for the 2nd and flapped at a cross which almost cost another. Made a good save from Long. Brittain - 3 - looked slow, lethargic and couldn't pass a ball. Awful performance and looked done in by Reading pushing on him so high up the pitch. Phillips - 6 - Did OK but both he and Ayala had no protection. Can easily see that he makes rookie decisions with the ball but he is literally a child and that will all come with age. Ayala - 6 - not the best from Daniel but had little to no protection from anyone around him. Was probably our best player on the pitch. Pickering - 4 - distribution awful and offered no threat going forward. One of his worst performances since he arrived IMHO. Buckley - 2 - I'm a massive Buckley fan but tonight he was honestly dreadful. When he did get the ball it was moved too slowly, gave the ball away too cheaply and didn't really try and challenge for the ball. Travis - 4 - awful. Was powderpuff by his standards and lacked any bite. Szmodics - 3 - anonymous. Offered nothing. Dolan- 3 - see Szmodics Vale - 4 - other than one run, see Dolan. BBD - 4 - BB was back tonight. The ball couldn't stick on the odd occasion he had it and when in a couple of good positions made really bad decisions. As mooted before the game this is an easy shot at him, but straight from the off he was ducking out of challenges and not getting stuck in. The same can be said of many tonight but looks like he could be going. Hedges - 5 - tried hard with no end product but still a significant improvement on Szmodics Dack - 4 - tried some flicks and quick interchanges of play but was off the pace. Gallagher - 3 - was back to his lacklustre best. I always want Sam to be so much better but the ball was just bouncing off him and he was a massive soft arse for the 3rd. Morton - N/A Edun - 5 - tried hard when he came on to no avail. We were basically out thought and out fought tonight. Reading wanted it and we seemingly didn't. This game was definitely more Mowbray then it was JDT. Slow, lethargic and moving the ball around slowly. I can only hope we have expelled much energy tonight so we are reinvigorated for a very tough game Saturday.
  19. You won't get many slower than Ayala and Wharton and they seem to be doing OK this season...
  20. United will pay him off no doubt. Its been done to death already but they owe him that dosh even if he's sold. £3m pay off for his wages owed until June next year, net what he gets from us. Everyone's happy.
  21. Phillips also looked like he had cramp also probably caused by the heat. Hopefully he can get through at least the majority of Wednesday and we get some more bodies in for Saturday.
  22. That's a shame for the lad. Hoping someone points out that you can fly to the Netherlands from either Liverpool or Manchester in 40 minutes.
