  1. JDT hadn’t dropped last nights bombshell when that interview was recorded. I spoke to Steve Waggott briefly before the game and highlighted the concerns that everyone had after last night as discussed on the other thread with @Mattybluelast night. He reiterated what he said in the fans forum the other week - our budget has been cut due to government pressures on Venky’s, they need to cut costs and will need to sell players to fund signings. He knows we need players, so we need to trade but we will also be reliant on the academy players coming through. He’s hopeful Venky’s can “sort it out” but until they do that’s the reality. JDT is no different from any other manager in that he wants players and money for them, he’s had the situation explained to him. That’s where we are at.
  2. The music went disastrously despite our (my) best efforts. They didn’t bother playing anything til way too late. This is what it was supposed to look like… The playlist and instructions weren’t followed.
  3. Starting place up front tomorrow as one of the raffle prizes 🤔
  4. Share far and wide… https://twitter.com/roverstrust/status/1684933758338605057?s=46&t=WI0SqBaDalGKV9qv2YLVIw
  5. I think 5,000 is something of a “blue sky” target. Quite literally. If the weather was like it was a month ago I think it would definitely happen. A lot of the walk ons will be weather dependent though. Both the club and the Trust would love to see the gate hit 5k, but that can’t be our only success measure.
  6. Fanzone will be open along with the Footy Curry stall, beer sheds, and possibly Finch Bakery
  7. Yep. They were tagged in the almost identical Tweet I put out last week, and all the responses. A retweet would’ve been helpful.
  8. There is! https://roversfanzine.bigcartel.com/product/4-000-holes-subscriptions-2023-24 In response to your other question, we hope this is the first of many similar days. A few league games a season would be the aim.
  9. Just to echo what @Herbie6590has posted above, if you can please come along and support it. Buy a ticket, and a programme, come and visit our stalls in the fanzone, buy a raffle ticket, join the Trust, sing along to the Beatles, stay for a drink after. Maybe bring someone else along, and help spread the word.
  10. Definitely! I presume the club will have photographers there. We will too.
  11. It is a shame. It’s also very frustrating.
  12. Looks like we will be seeing some of these youngsters a lot more than anyone bargained for.
  13. I’m guessing it’s more about consistency of message than keeping secrets. If one of the attendees had come in here and stated “Waggott said there is some truth to the reports” any finer points would’ve been lost and there’d be mass panic.
  14. Nice tune! Yes, I will!
  15. The pre-match playlist is really taking shape now, and post match we bring you 3 MEN GONE MAD. Their single You Try was a big hit with John Peel who stated “This will take your breath away”, permiating between music for rock purist and rave and balaeric connoisseurs alike. The band have been described as “Carrying the energy of The Clash, the depth of Joy Division, and the rhythm of Talking Heads”…. They are fronted by a life long Rovers fan too!
  16. I’ll play it at the Girona game as long as there is a solemn promise of starting a singalong to the appropriate bit!
  17. I’m certainly not against the idea. A slightly edited version would be ideal. Have you heard the Fall’s version? It’s quite a bit shorter, although Mark E’s vocals aren’t everyone’s cup of tea!!
  18. The big issue is the 3 minutes of acid induced experimentation before that line kicks in. Not sure it’s be an instant hit with anyone not in the know.
  19. I dunno… Down Down at full time against Wigan in 2012 might have caused a riot!
  20. Requests are now live! Have a look at the Walkout music thread.
  21. This seemed like an appropriate thread to resurrect…
  22. 2,000 would be a hugely disappointing turnout, it’d be a similar number to what we took to Stanley. It’d also be very damaging to any future case we put forward that “cheap tickets = bigger attendances”. To be clear, 10,000 would be absolute an absolute dream world scenario. Half that would be a success. There’s already some massive positives I’ll take from this whatever the attendance is. Due to the generosity of people on this board and in the wider fanbase, some kids will be experiencing their first ever trip to Ewood, and families who are really struggling at present will be able to have an afternoon out at the football.
  23. For me there are a few aims… There’s always criticism from within the fanbase that our own fanbase is splintered, and there are “too many groups”. Actually I don’t think we have enough groups in all honesty, some more organised regional supporter groups like we used to have would be good! We’ve tried to bring together the various open member groups which each have their own area of interest and focus, along with the main supporter communities and content creators to show the club, and the fanbase, that we can all work together and provide something good. From a Trust point of view, we want to give something to our existing members and provide potential new members with a reason to join up. We need to up our membership numbers and to do so need to raise our profile, get out there, and engage with and listen to the fans. From a personal point of view there are loads of little things I’ve moaned about. The scrapping of the printed programme, the same old dull music pre-match, the fact Ewood is deserted 5 minutes after the full time whistle… I’m happy we are being able to try something different! Promotion for the event and advertising of the game will ramp up over the next week, both from the supporters end and the clubs. 10,000 is blue sky thinking for sure, but we want to see a bump on the number the club would ordinarily be expecting, we hope the feedback is good to. Specifically in response to @Mattyblue, I don’t feel we have made ourselves hostages to fortune. I do feel that we (Trust, BRFCS, Rovers Chat, and other groups) have more faith in our fanbase than the people in charge of the club do. With many of our discussion with them, the challenge presented to us has often been to prove their is an appetite for some of the things we’ve discussed. We’re trying. @chaddyrovers there will be the footy curry and bar stalls open around the fanzines, along with the Sodexo offerings in the ground (hopefully with some deals on). Is there anything specific you’d like to see? No promises, we’re bang in the middle of festival season so it might be tricky, but we can certainly ask the question.
  24. You’ll have to wait til next week
