Formation/tactics for next season

3-4-1-2 that can go 4-4-2 3-5-1 or 3-4-3 -
Good signing bye bye Samuel and Nuttall not good enough for a team we now have. Whichever 2 of Arma Gally Brereton and Graham play there is a fabulous supply line there is strength through the central midfield there is a strong defensive midfield and then there is The Dack bring it on

People might choke on their words when Gally Brereton and Graham plus Dack are banging goals in . It’s an attack line with decent supply options unlike for many a year. A midfield full of defensive minded as well as creativity will excel just need a decent hard no frills CB and a keeper job done -

It’s easier to get the season ticket for me even though I know that I will be missing a number of games due to work family commitments and holidays. Yes I am lucky to be able to afford it but if you work it out the ST is the much better option even on tick!

Has anyone really any ideas as to how TM is s ting the team up to play ? Answer is no they don’t! The formation being played will be adapted to each game as it comes, I am pretty sure about that. At home we could go 3-4-2, 4-4-2 or 3-5-1-1. new Keeper Nyambe Lenihan Mulgrew or new CB Williams/Bell Bennett/Rothwell Johnson Travis Downing/Chapman Dack Graham or Brereton and Gallagher/Armstrong Throw in Davenport Evans Nuttall Butterworth Rankin-Costello Smallwood Magloire and that has the basis of a good team/squad that can be adapted/changed to suit. I am sure there are probably others from the u23 squad that could step up namely Grayson so there is a lot of talent at the club. I haven’t added Adams but for me he could easily fit into the squad using his experience and know how to help Travis improve even more. -

Rubbish, we now have a bit of know how in the midfield, a quality crosser of the ball who can actually bet the first defender and a midfield general who has a nasty streak with some worldly quality about him as well. Now that is a massive upgrade on Conway and Evans/Smallwood! -

Throughout the years we have lost loads of keepers who were head and shoulders above what Raya was and is and we improved sir Roger, Bradshaw, Gennoe, Arnold, Given, Flowers, Freidel to name but a few. There is no doubt that TM will have a replacement ready to replace him. Someone has already mentioned £3m from an academy prospect to continue the theme of producing players for profit. That’s what we are right now. Be positive -

Mercer can’t wait to see what job you pick up in the football league with your expert knowledge of all things football! Of course TM knows what he is doing he’s been in footie for 30 or more years as a top pro and decent manager whereas you? Raya is not the best keeper around small in stature but good shot stopper he is not a commanding figure and he makes some calamitous decisions as we saw last season costing us points . -

If Raya could command the 6 yard box he would be a class keeper, trouble is he doesn’t won’t nor will he ever do! Cash in whilst we can and get a quality keeper in, happy with links to Darlow. Gally would be a quality addition, can play different styles, would complement both Graham and BB, win headers, play central,or wide or just go direct with a 4-4-2 formation when required especially with a quality supply line in Dack and Downing. Looks like patience is paying off for some???? -

Thinks it’s perfectly clear in TM’s message be PATIENT things are clearly happening behind the scenes and might take a bit to get over the line. -

Who says I haven’t Stuart? Some bang on about opinions and not accepting them? Irony ? Of course it is. Wind up? There’s no wind up from me it’s an observation, iirc the advice would be to keep on scrolling. Dont need to chat to myself about my own view but how’s about your comment about being a wind up and a rule breaker? -

You mean for your record Stuart? The furore I mentioned doesn’t say it’s about this message board does it? If you have a look at a number of SMedia sites there is imo of course a furore about Adam training with us. I will accept though it’s about how one define furore ??? -

Oh the furore regarding Charlie Adam! To get out of this league a club needs an experienced hand to help. We have had 2 examples in recent years. Gordon Cowans - an old ageing pro played a part at our club bringing skill, nouse and most importantly balance and know how. Wasn’t the fastest but was a success. Kevin Moran - need I say more? Tony Gale - oldest freebie signing ever? Brought quality, know how and balance to help the younger players succeed. There are other examples, Mick Duxbury, Frank Stapleton, Archibald, Ardiles. Granted not everyone a roaring success but you get the picture. So for me Adam is more defensively aware than Evans or Smallwood, he has more attacking verve, football ability and know how than the midfield put together and IMO would be a fantastic model for the younger element such as Travis. He isn’t going to cost the earth so why not if he is fit and mobile? We have seen how good he can be, and I accept he has a nasty side to him as well but isn’t that something Rovers have lacked since Toddy was at the club? A player with fight, balls and creativity to boot? Thats my view
