It sure looks like the biggest club in England have it in for BRFC - they ar enow comparing their like to us when they cant even beat winkers reserves !!!! FootyMAD > Singing The Blues > Latest > Blues News Blues Res 0 Bolton Res 0 Story by IPFreely 8 November 2005 Match abandoned at half time.............. On a dreadful night at Solihull, the cold rain was driving down out of the pitch black night sky, drifts of water visible against the floodlights. A couple of hundred hardy souls shivered against the wind in the bleak concrete stands, huddled together for warmth in pathetic little scattered blobs of humanity. It was like a Premiership match at Blackburn. Blues lined up with a very youthful team, with Carl Motteram making a very welcome return from major knee surgery. Alex Bruce (Steve’s son) lined up as a left-sided central defender alongside Sam Oji. Up front Oliver Allen (Clive’s son) lined up alongside Njazi Kuqi (Shefti’s brother). Despite this line-up, Blues had declined to play a game of Happy Families with Bolton before kick-off, Instead they had played Player’s Name Scrabble and Blues were handsomely beaten by a Bolton team which included high points scorers such as Martin Djetou, Jaroslaw Fojut, Ricardo Vazte and Fabrice Fernandes. No Brucie Watch tonight – never saw him. In fact, no Bertschin watch either, the team being marshalled from the touchline by the sylph-like figure of Nigel Spink, standing in the pouring rain wearing shorts! They’re dead hard, them ‘keepers. It’s a pity Bertschin wasn’t there because, as regular readers will know, I’ve become an aficionado of his perceptive insights from the Technical Area. I have no doubt that tonight we’d have been treated to “Ref! It’s raining!”. Both teams made a decent fist of trying to play football on a pitch that was becoming more dangerous by the minute as the rain drove down, great puddles formed, the ball stuck and players slid into each other with great crunches audible from the stand. Blues’ Nick Wright was making some searingly fast runs down the right wing, although the final ball was often a bit slack. For Bolton, Johann Smith on the left flank showed loads of pace but too many step-overs and tricks for my jaded old palette. Bolton also had a big strong centre forward called Bedi Buval who battled gamely against Bruce and Oji and came off at half time completely covered in mud, looking like something from a 1970s Match of the Day! Blues had the best of the 45 minutes played, with David Howland twice going close, once with a header from a corner and shortly afterwards with a rasping 25-yarder which shaved the post with the goalie beaten. Bolton almost scored when Buval had an unmarked header which he plonked straight into Doyle’s arms in the Blues goal. Blues also strung together the best move of the game, when Bruce carried the ball out to halfway in the Bolton half, slid a pass inside the defender for Motteram to drive a low cross which Kuqi sidefooted just past the post. Bloton’s best moments were all coming from the pace and flair of Smith who was doing very well, considering he was playing on a pitch which was somewhat akin to a mangrove swamp. Motty had a reasonable game. He’s adopted a Jon McCarthy haircut (the footballer, not the hostage) and tried hard to get things going down the left wing. he didn’t look like a bloke who’d spent nearly a year out and returned to play in a monsoon. Bolton had clearly worked hard on their dead ball situations and I liked their corner routine, where every single player waits outside the box and then come storming in like the Light Brigade as the corner comes over. There are bodies flying everywhere – impossible to referee and most effective. I’d recommend a look at Bolton Reserves if only to witness this spectacle. Also, a special word is due to Bolton’s phsyio, a dead ringer for Sylvester Stallone. All entertaining stuff, exactly what you’d expect of Big Sam’s Lads. Anyhow, late in the first half the ref could be heard joking with both bedraggled benches about his wanting to sit in the dugout whilst they got soaked instead. The Blues subs retreated to sit in the stand in order to keep out of the rain. Mat Sadler was covered in mud splashes, just from having warmed up. An abandonment was inevitable and was declared at half time. I went into the clubhouse for a wee, won a tenner on the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? machine, caught the end of Eastenders, ran back to the car and went home. That’s All Folks! -

with todays digital technology even SKY will have some difficulty in stopping euro broadcasters screening Premiership games on saturday afternoon. After monopolising the footie for a decade or more the hand is now on the other foot. Companies like SKY always have side issues, whether it be decodes, digi cyphercodes or whatever, they are always there to be broken no matter what. -

well Le C seeing as your residing in Manchester you really are amongst the minority knowing drug addicts who dont have to commit cime to fund their habits. You must also live in a crime free zone. I was in Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool prisons during the past month as part of a government survey into the useage of crack and heroin which also tested the users ability to fund the amount of drugs he was using. When the results are published around April/May 2006 I am pretty certain your view will change. An example would be that a street crack addict has an average addiction of £400-£500 per week. How the hell does one fund this addiction ? 88% of all prisoners are unemployed, at least 35% are NOt claiming benefits as they have no need to due to their crime sprees. The ONLY way for them to fund habits like this is for them to commit crime. One lad I spoke to was committing 10-15 house burglaries a week just to get by on crack. Another lad, and those of us who live in Preston will have read in the LEP, had to commit 5 armed robberies in 7 days just to get by on his addiction which was rising to between £500-£600 a week. Those are two examples. Whilst in an unnamed prison, a raid was conducted and £20000 heroin/crack and cannabis was located in the laundry. The ringleader ? serving 5 yrs for possession w/i to supply found a nice niche to support hsi own personal addiction as well as providing for his fellow inmates ! so you see, criminals and druggies are akin to each other. remove drugs and addicts and remove crime. They go in tandem. No matter what the Police chiefs say, drugs are a major problem on EVERY street corner and out of every 1000 crimes committed in England and Wales, the offender is a drug user/addict on at least 856 occasions. The facts speak for themselves. -

In my profession its druggies that make 100% of their victims despair at this country. You work all hours, save your money to buy your wares, your tv,playstation, vcr, sky+ and so on, then some little smackhead, desperate for a bag breaks into your home, your car or whatever and then sells the stolen items for pennies, a very minor percentage of the real value. Now then gareth if you think that it is acceptable, make your house open all hours to the local smackheads and crackheads. as for alcoholics, my brother inlaw died aged 34 from this illness. He didnt commit crime to fund his addiction to alcohol, he tried, he worked and he spent every god damned penny he made on beer until it was too late, this depsite repeated help from his family. I dont see many crack addicts and smackheads seeking the help of their families, seeking to help them stop committing crime, even those on rehab programmes etc. I know this personally, I see it every god damned day of my working life. I would imagine that 80% of people in this country would not really pass views on alcoholics whereas almost 100% would certainly pass comment of drug addicts. -
well it dont really matter whether its money or whatever. its a bloody disgrace tht England fans have to travel and pay big bucks to watch the national team play a game in a neutral venue. I am not bothered as its 50p off a pint in the club, free hotpot and only a short crawl home

well I am sorry for this but if the wavering supporter cannot see the deal of a lifetime that is being offered then they dont deserve to watch premier league football at Ewood. the costs are not even the price of christmas presents per child per year. get your hands in the pockets, for the workers it is a small hit in the pocket, for the others its pennies from heaven. if you cant be persuaded, watch the recorded highlights of Rovers v Charlton, v manure, v leeds, v birmingham and co. Rovers a re a team playing bloody good football - ask Chelsea -

The difference being that alcoholics are considered as having an illness. Druggies are a different type of person, they HAVE to commit crime fo fund their habits, generally an alcholic will not go on serious crime sprees to fund their addiction. for a tenner a druggie gets a bag of heroin, or for 15-20 a rock of crack, it will last them between 1 or 2 hrs then they will have to go out and get some money for another fix, then another and so on. for a tenner an alcoholic will get plenty of lager, cider or wine, they fall asleep for a few hours then get back on the drink. They wont have the viscious circle that a druggie has, and are more tahn tolerable in todays society. druggies are the most intolerable of all scum thats the difference -
cant see you having any problems whatsoever, we wont take more than 800 max

There is a very simple solution to drugs shoot every drug addict and it eradicates a number of problems. the pushers lose out on money big time criminals dont cash in crime figures plummet by 85% some may say harsh, but it aint really is it, its a simple equation no druggies = very little crime no druggies = no big dollars being made on the drugs scene -

we have learned to walk before running after the last years experiences. Under MH Rovers are now better equipped with fitness, have a huge work ethic, have obviously got a team spirit throught the spine of the team and have a group of players who are playing for the shirt and the club. I really think we can give any of the teams in this league a decent game. It will be interesting to see what happens after this break. The injuries may well have cleared up, we may have a full squad of players fighting for those 16 shirts come match day. I cannot wait for the next home game, just to see the reaction of the supporters. I mean, after Evertons recent mini revival we can expect at least 5k Evertonians. If Rovers wavering supporters are wanting confimration of what they have begun to read in the press then we should see an increase of at least 1k home supporters to add to the 17k loyal followers. -

from what I saw of the wigan game both teams were pretty dire. of the players on show only Taylor would get into the Rovers team. this chimbonda bloke strikes me as the man who found gold. a player in the diawarra mold (kaba that is) who is on a streak of luck as wide as the mersey estuary, if he is wearing gloves now god help him on new years eve -

The rain and bad weather has done nothing to dampen Rovers fireworks on this years bonfire night An all round great performance, a destructive force and at the same time an atacking performance that showed we are not just a kicking team, todays game should stick well and truly in the big mouth that is Lawro. Rovers started out straight from the blocks and it was very quickly 2-0 Blues. The game was so comfortably in the bag until Charlton broke and scored a scrappy goal. I am not too sure why Lucas let the ball go past his head but only he can answer that. Suddenly the tempo, movement and passing game we had so successfully played drifted apart. Too many loose passes, not enough movement and too much giving easy balls away. second half began exactly as the first. Rovers quickly on top and then 3-1 up. The game almost won. Rovers then went on a 25 minute spell where they played really good passing football, totally contradicting everyone in the football world outside Ewood. A fourth goal subliemly despatched to the net by Bellamy sealed a fantastic win. 4-1 ! who would have believed it ? not too many moans about this game. the crowd ? yes 17000 Rovers fans, the die hard support. A pathetic effort from Charlton especailly after their team had won all of their away games this season. Rovers and especially Tugay, tried at the end to sever the nerves of their fans by too much flashy ball, not enough thinking and only two on line goal clearances saved us from a really bad ending. not impressed with the MOTM award, my view there were two contenders, Neill and Zurab. All the Rovers fans who think that Lucas cannot play, watch the match on footie first. he was superb, a 90 minute all action display, no booking, played in 3 positions, ran for 90 minutes and his only blot was that he was at fault for the goal. Zurab must be wondering just how gers let him go. Another fine display in the middle. friedal - 8 - some good saves but generally unemployed. gray -7 inj - did well until hamstring went. NEILL - 9 - my motm. zurab 8 - solid in defence. todd -7 - coped well with Bent until he also departed injured. tugay - 8 - back to his mercurial best although at the end back to his alter ego. pederson - 7 - drifted in and out but was there to make the all important 3rd goal count. reid - 7 - solid throughout, some good moves and plenty of won tackles. emerton - 8 - great game, fantastic finish and ran the whole game long. surely his best game for a while. dickov - 7 - good header for the finish, out of the game for a long time before subbed. bellamy - 8 - his all round game is pure class, he can run, he can pass and he can bloody well find the net. subs axe - 7 - solid imo should have gone into midfield rather than RB kuqi - 7 - header set up bellamy bentley - 7 - seemed up for it despite the weather and not really enough time to make a solid impression so its yet another happy saturday night. Rovers clearly have a team spirit that I havent seen for a couple of years at Ewood. The players fight for each other, they run for each other and they would all appear to have respect for each other. the supporters who are wavering surely have to come back and purchase the half season tickets. Rovers are on a roll and who knows where this team can get us to this season. we clearly have an opportunity to seriously lay the foundations for a good season. the next 7 or 8 games are in the main mostly winnable. city and arsenal away - would take 3 points everton and wham at home - 6 points sunderland, boro and wigan are all winnable and would happily accept 7 points out of that lot. to go into 2006 with about 33 points would be just superb and a just reward for a job well done -

sticking with the 2-0 winning home run. Everyone mentions Bent, however, he may not be even fit to play. I would imagine Rovers will counter the threat of murphy, take him out and thats the playmaker out of the game. Every play goes through him with the added speed of Denis, who I think will not like it one bit at Ewood. Cant see more than 300 charlton fans crowd lucky to break 19000 -
who cares ?

akin to Scotty's view, some of the tripe is unbelievable Brad may have had an off game, but surely he is entitled to it. After all, how many games has he singlehandedly kept us in the game or even won it for us ? The 3rd goal was one that is hard to defend against, we saw it at manure away when MGP popped one in, it happened to us yesterday, it has happened many more times and will again. we dont have a keeper of Brad's stature in reserve. I just hope that in the next game when he makes a world class save, there are similar posts regardingjust how good he actually is

I dont think Rovers can have anything else but Pride after that performance. yes we got beat, but the manner of it has made the big guns take note of what is happening at Ewood. Everyone knew Rovers were on a loser, the best team in England having drawn two games were never gonna lose or draw a third on the bounce, especially agaisnt little old BRFC. Rovers ruffled the blue russkis on their own pitch. I watched the game on Sky First, Rovers did well. For me the weakest link was Tugay. Oh yes, he is a fine passer of the ball but too many passes go astray and his legs cant keep going for 90 minutes. I cant slate my team. The only thing I will say that is slmost going to be repeated over and over again MIKE RILEY IS A FIRST CLASS T*T -

I think there is a lot of positiveness to take out of last nights result. yes CFC are now expected to walk the floor with us. its pay back time for Ewood massacre match. its pay back for 2 poor chelsea results. it simply cannot happen that the special one will have to face the cameras without 3 points and a good hiding for the opposition. yet, I see a point heading our way at least. Rovers have to be 0-0 at half time, it doesnt matter how dire the performance. Enter the man that is Bellamy, hated and loathed at best. A quick pass and he is away, Chelsea battered and tired back 4 cant keep up with him and he has the nouse to beat cech. All Rovers have to do is not sit back, get at them from the off and fight the the good fight with all their might.
