  1. a major result in favour of Rovers....1-0
  2. Bryan I hear where your coming from but we simply have differing views. I was a seriously pro-souness supporter and I cant be more grateful for the promotion, the worthy cup and europe. however I cannot now or never get my head around how he systematically destroyed the soul of the club. How can he justify selling Cole no not selling GIVING him away ? Okay he had a fall out but not one person is bigger than the club not even he himself. His priority should have been BRFC not his petty little fall out with the clubs number 1 striker. Further to that he gave him away and he didnt replace him. Before that we had similar scanarios with Dunn, okay granted I dont think souness was all too blame for that one but it strikes me that he could have handled the thing better. Duff was out of his hands but he did not replace him with the right calibre of players. After the Cole scenario what did he do ? He simply buggered off, no tiem for the club to readdress the situation, no time for the club to rebuild or plan and simply leaving us in the mire until January. I am pretty much of the opinion that he dismantled the team, he had certainly lost 100% backing from the club, he had lost the majority of the dressing room and he had lost a large part of the Ewood crowd. Rovers backed him when necessary, they backed him throughout all of his arguments. Souness himself showed no loyalty whatsoever in return and stayed beyond his welcome. Thats my view....
  3. Just listened to sourness in his pre match interview. the smug son of a bitch ! You can see that he has got himself a serious new lease of life with landing the newcastle job I just wish he could come out and admit that he went a long way to destroying our club
  4. They got rid of that couple in the BBE lower tier pretty quickly, saved the lad from a hiding altough I have to say the lad who was swinging the punches is obviously not a fighter aas he missed several times by a mile ! the girlie scouse fan's salute just showed that she is indeed a clown and should be lining up a tthe next visit of the circus......with the elephants !
  5. Cant understand the constant abuse headin towards Lucas Neill after yesterday. I tought he had a good game and clearly so did the media - he is in the team of the weekend ! Agree with the comments about Brad
  6. we still in the fa cup then ?
  7. official scouse visitors was 7100
  8. It says Chris that I think over the last 2 seasons I think he has been pretty god damned average when he clearly had so much more to offer BRFC. Thats my view lump it or like it. today I thought he was worth 7
  9. I dont think we have the capacity to play him in the team at the moment. I do think he will be a good player for us when he has fully settled into our way of playing.
  10. back home again in sunny Leyland and for once my night is going to be so much better - FOR EVERYONE What a difference a week makes, solid defending, wholehearted challenges, effort, creativity, togetherness, a good crowd but the one thing missing in recent months was clearly evident PRIDE in a Rovers shirt. Rover can count themselves unfortunate not to have got all 3 points, although before we thing the corner has been changed I have to point out that Liverpool were very dangerous albeit there chances were limited. My player ratings: Friedel - 7 - some terrific stops and clearly caught out of position for the opening goal. Needs to have more confidence and come for the odd cross or 2. Neill - 7 - a totally different player to one of late. Solid in the challenge as usual and got a lot more forward. Left stranded for JAR shot on goal. Short - 7 - solid as usual, unlucky not to nick the ball off Baros when he equalised and very unfortunate not to give Rovers a 3rd with a terrific header. NEJ - 8 - solid performance. Comfortable in the air and on the ground. Clearly benefits from having Short alongside him. McEverley - 7 - solid performance although niaive with the free kick that cost us the lead. Emerton - 8 - strong solid performance and what a finish. For those who have not seen it, it was a pure finish and not a keeper in the world would have got near the precision shot. Ferguson **9** - star player. Solid, creative and kept the whole team going for 90 minutes. Tugay - 7 - best performance for 2 years. Not too many faults for him today although some of his passing was poor. Reid - 8 - A few weeks ago I labelled this guy as not being a Premiership player. After todays performance I have changed my mind. A very good effort from the lad, good on the ground and solid in the air. If only he could use his pace going down the flank. Dickov - 8 - effort he put in was superb, unfortunate with a chance in the 2nd half. Bothroyd - 7 - caused so many problems for the Liverpool defence and a cool finish. Tired at the end of a great effort. subs Stead - 7 - looks like he is getting more confidence back and very unlucky with a superb shot. Tactics. Spot on. the work effort during the week has clearly paid off and Rovers fully deserved their point although it could have been 3. There is clearly a new found confidence within the team/squad. Referee Styles - 8. When I saw it was he in the middle I cringed with fear. he clearly had a good game and could easily have sent off Tugay. Let the game flow and didnt blow for too many petty fouls. Crowd - 9 - so much better when the Rovers fans unite in adversity. Still one or two prats in the Lower BBurn End giving grief but overall it was a great atmosphere. So what can Rovers take from the game ? On the negative side there is simply the one or two mistakes that cost us a goal. There is plenty of positives for Mark Hughes to take into the crunch game at Norwich. If Rovers can take this performance into that game then we should win however we all know that football is a funny old game. Emerton is a man possessed, Fergie is leading the team like a true Captain andthe rest of the team appear to be taking a lot of responsibility. JHC it feels great to be able to enjoy a saturday night especially watching MOTD in the knowledge that every ###### pot punter got it so wrong after writing Rovers epitaph in the run up tot he weekend Now then finally....... what was the dingle score ? I lost count at 3-0
  11. why isnt Paul Shepstone on that list ???
  12. One of the funniest stories surrounding Mark Atkins is that a long time ago he came to our village pub in Wheelton to do a penny tower push with Scott Sellars - guess what he bloody well missed. But after all it was in the week immediately after the horrendous own goal against Liverpool in the 111th minute of extra time
  13. In that case Oz see you at the shop tomorrow then !
  14. For the first time in Premiership history rovers will lose 4-0 at home However all is not lost this result will definately be the turning point in our season one way or t'other either it is the massive wakey wakey call or it simply condemns us to also rans and ensures a quick drop into oblivion. sharp ? maybe but its bloody well happening
  15. Sellars and McKenzie for me
  16. what utter trash hughes out ?? give me a break and get a reality check its the current squad that should all hold their heads up and apologise to the fans, the manager and the club. finally souness should be shot at dawn when he returns at christmas expect to see the following banner souness, won promotion, won us the cup got us into europe.... then..... systematicaly went about destroying the infrastructure of our club, dismantled the spine of the team and brought dissarray to a well oiled outfit.
  17. distraught after another poor result. Am really really looking forward to the thieves from Liverpool who will no doubt nick the points as well as a few cars
  18. you cheekey pair of T£££S unfortuantely for Mr Brzil he was nowhere near as good a finisher as MOI !
  19. Just how do you guys manage to paste the pictures ? any advice accepted as I have one for Abbey !
  20. Another way to look at it is this. just what clubs are avaiable to Bellamy should he leave ? none of the top 6 would want him. the clubs which would definately be out of any hunt would be southampton (unless Beattie went),palace, pompy, norwich, city (unless anelka went),bolton and spurs. his options would be very limited and iMo Rovers would certainly provide a decent option. As for the price of 7 million, well all I can add on that is dream on. 4 serious knee injuries and ops, 2 yrs on a contract ? no chance, 3 million tops. bellamy to Ewood, very mcuh a possibility
  21. anti social behaviour ? well jimbo you must surely have led the most sheltered life I have known ! standing at a footie match is more than acceptable, more often than not at some point in the game almost 97% of supporters will have stood up. furhter to that I would guestimate that at least 30% of those supporters have never been in trouble with the Police, never had any dealings with the Police and are unlikely to ever have any dealings with the Police. Anti social behaviour is for the morons who consistently go around making peoples lives a misery, committing persistent criminal offences, breaching the peace regularly, appearing before the law courts regularly, nuisance makers and the like. If you think that standing at ewood is anti social then you must accept that you must go to the upper echelons of the J walker stand out of the way, all us supporters on the lower tiers HAVE to stand on occcasion, for example, when the ball is approaching the net, corners, penalties !!!!, play in the area etc etc. It doesn't make it anti social in any shape or form. Now someone of you intelligence and experience should clearly understand that one. My view is this. I am not happy at all with the explanations provided in the press, its a cop out big style. How can any other club take responsibility for their own fans within another clubs stadium ? that would mean that the likes of Southampton shouild bring their own stewards, their own supervisors, their own Police and the like. BRFC has the sole responsibility of how the crowd inside Ewood are controlled. They have the power to refuse tickets to fans who abuse the rules inside footie grounds. as for LAW ? well its definately not in the statutes that stadning within a soccer stadium is against the law. It is simply a rule that a club is supposed to enforce under the safety regulations, conditions of license and the guidelines set by local authorities. if Rovers cannot supervise away fans, be it 100 or 8000 then they should NOT sell any bloody tickets ! Its as plain and simple as that. Rovers have copped out because they know that when lfc, manure, newcastle and city bring a few thousand its a bit of dosh in the pockets. Now on the other hand if they did do a little bit more for their own supporters, were not so pedantic,so critical,so futile etc they may just realise that there is and are opportunities to attract a bigger fan base to Ewood. Its pretty simple really. treat you own like they are your own. Its little things like that that will go a long way to addressing some fo the problems wer have at the club
  22. pure genius you lot
  23. biggest defeat for eons 6-0 chelski
  24. I have stated this several times Lucas Neill should be played at centre half alongside Short. Gresko should be brought in at left back leaving reid at right back. I am not a supporter of Reid but we know he has pace if not a lot else to cope with a left winger. I am dreading next weekend. I looked at the odds for the Boro score and you got a minimum of 40-1, I have tried to look at the odds for next weekend and fully expect a good set of odds for a 6 or 7 nil scoreline UNLESS drastic action is taken. Back to our team. Well Friedel has not done much wrong so he stays at Number 1. Defenders as above. Midfield - well certainly we start with Emerton and Fergie, I would also put Flitcroft in (thats if he hasnt left to join Wigan as was the rumour on Saturday), the 4th member of that midfield would be Gray as the left sided option, allowing for any formation change in the second half. The front is where next problem lies. I would stick Stead up front as a lone player and leave Djorkeaff to support him or simply bolster the midfield. That gives us Friedel Reid,Neill,Short,Gresko Emerton,Ferguson,Flitcroft,Gray Djorkeaff Stead subs wise and if fit Enckleman NEJ MGP Gallacher/Jansen Todd Chelsea play a strong midfield of Lampard, geremi, makele and Duff. I watch them closely and see that as Man City did if you cramp Duff and get a Lampard then they dont appear to be able to cause many problems. I saw nothing in the City line up that we havent got (Anelka aside) and in Chelsea I thought they were very one dimentional. A whole lot of pundits are ready to put Rovers out to slaughter next weekend, I believe Rovers are currently 8-1 to win on the fixed odds. I cant see us winning in reality but we are their bogey team and we are due a whole lotta luck. Heres hoping eh ?
  25. yes it could be far worse we could be real madrid ! we could all change allegience and support the dingles ! as for filling the mug and settling down to MOTD ? Well I dont have the will to watch that crud again
