From my position I could clearly see the goading boro fans in the box and I also saw the heavy handed tactics employed by the stewards and Police. I have sent an email to the club outlining my total disgust. say no more -

Oh yes 1MJ if you thought my views were cynical then I would suggest that you wait for our Scotty's views. I am pretty sure they will make very interesting reading -

The cynical crap you mention 1MJ is actually reality. We were poor, we were not creative, we were wide open, we were crap, we were outfought, we were out run, we were kippered by a dodgy linesmen, we were truly dire, reid was truly awful, amoruso was ridiculously poor, JHC I could go on and on. Upto half time I agree we were still in the game, but what happened over the next 11 minutes should have registered a serious worry in your brain about your club and the possible consequences of such a poor performance. Cynical crap ? Yeh right on bro -

Where do I begin Preston Blue ? Rovers need to urgently get an interest into the club. They could for starters do the following. For the Darwen End only. Have say 300 tickets for kids at a Quid. Have another 300 for the unemployed and students at say a Fiver. Have another 300 limited tickets on a first come first served basis for say Seven quid. Thats nearly a thousand more supporters in the gate, add this to whatever is spent inside the ground and you have a basis for generating interest in the club. Thats a starting point. The games against teams like Southampton, Fulham,Norwich and Palace as they are all going to generate sub 18k attendances. We have flogged this to death as well as the Asian supporter agenda. There has to be a complete overhaul of the club, if that means attracting an outsider then so be it. The ties between the Walker family have to be looked at, Either they are in for the ride or get out now. That sounds very harsh but come on lets be real about it. As for anything else well I am just a simple supporter, thats all -

[Archived] Rovers 0 V 4 Middlesbrough review
1864roverite replied to Ozz's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Well, back home and I've waited and waited, I've thought about it, I've waited a little longer, I've kicked the dog, battered the wife, ate my tea and now the kids have been banished to their rooms. Angry ? no not really just another seriously bad day at Ewood Park, the home of my heroes. Now I have had time to reflect here goes, a view from the Blackburn End. Where do I start ? Well, for what its worth I considered player ratings, I considered positives, I considered negative and finally I contemplated the refereeing standards and the actual Rovers performance on the park. What follows will not make good reading in a retrospective way that is. The team. Friedel was left hoplessly exposed by juvenile and non existant defending errors, 4 shots 4 goals. Neill - 5 - when will someone in the management realise that he is no longer a right back, he should be moved inside to the centra half position. Amoruso - 1 - an absolute stinker, worst ever performance I have ever seen in a blue and white shirt. 2 basic errors 2 goals against, cant tackle, cant pass in fact he cant do anything apart praise his local hairdresser and even then its a poor effort. If there was ever a case for sacking a player for non performance then this is it. Matteo - 5 - didnt too bad considering. Gray - 6 - busy but left gaping holes down the flank. Tugay - 0 - yes thats a big fat ZERO. How can someone with so much experience committ such a stupid error/misjudgement is incredible, it beggers belief. The man is a liability and is clearly so far away from the pace of the game that he can go to grass NOW before it is too late. Ferguson - 7 - best midfielder on the park. Busy, passed well and even though overrun in the middle he coped very well considering the didgy hamstring. Emerton - 6 - another steady effort but why ohb why cant he shoot when he has the opportunity ? Djorkaeff - 6 - missed a sitter when he should have followed in but showed he is a class act with a good 70 or so minutes. Reid - 5 - clearly this game showed he is out of place in the Premier League. Yes, granted he has been injured but 7 out of 10 passes went to the opposition and his biggest error cost us a goal. Dickov - 6 - worked hard against big defenders. subs Stead - 5 - not enough time to impress but had a go Jansen - ** - not on long enough Short - 6 - showed his worth as he played in defence, in midfield and even on the left wing ! So what positives can we take out of the game ? I am positive that Amoruso is the worst player I have ever seen for the Rovers. I am positive that Mike Riley is the worst referee I have ever seen. I am positive that the Rovers stewards are the worst I have ever come across (that pains me as my mates wife is one of them). I am positive that the 10 or so muppets in front of me in the BBurn End Lower know absolutely nothing about football, know nothing about our club and indeed just simply know nothing. I am positive that Rovers appointing Mark Hughes is a good appointment, although on the face of it he really has been left in the mire byt he departed regime and may just find himself plying his trade in the Championship next season. I am pretty positive that Rovers cannot play any worse. I am pretty positive that the Board will recognise the fact that we need new blood and will loosen the purse strings come January. I am pretty certain that Rovers have now put themselves in the mother of all battles against relegation. I have decided against listing the negatives because I have not got all night. Lets make no bones about the performance, it really was poor. Before I go on I want to make it clear that the referee did NOT cost us the game. Tugay as I have said is a distant memory of the player he was. It is he who should hang is head in shame, along with Amoruso, along with Reid and along with some fo the others. I have tried to make sense of how it went so badly wrong. Tugay definately deserved his sending off. But even after he went we still had a chance in the game. Boro were and are not a good side. In fact they were no more than average and really only came out of their shells once they were 3-0 up. Rovers simply buckled under 3 seriously poor mistakes and then were caught on the hop with the 4th. From being a lot more cohesive unit across the middle we just went to pot. It is my honest view that BRFC is seriously in trouble, its a club on the way down and its definately a club on its "arse". Now that really upsets me as I am a staunch supporter of the club, I pride myself on being a Rover and my heart bleeds blue blood. I just cannot see how the club are going to make any inroads to gaining 39 points. As a once pro-sourness supporter I now find it very easy to slate him. he really should have gone in the summer looking on it now. I also blame the board as they should have instigated the push to the door. So what are we to do ? We cannot dare to introduce the kids. For those who think MGP is the answer he is not at this crucial point of the season. One thing is for sure we are never going to be in a position where we can spend £10m on new players. An honest opinion would be to suggest a period back in the old Div 1 or Championship, my fear is that if we went down we would never again see our club back. The club is undergoing a transition OPPOSITE to what we saw in 1990-1992. We saw what Sir Jack did for us and now that he is no longer with us we are slowly but surely heading back to whence we came. I hope I am totally wrong. Many of us "Gimmers" have seen the really bad times, we have seen the good times and the mediocre times. The "newbies" have only really seen the good times with a relegation season or two in between. Tonight is going to be a typically downer of a Saturday evening consummate with much of last season. Its time to change the tune. Like many others today is the first time I have ever walked off from Ewood before the end of the game. It bloody well hurts and no amount of excuses will help. To see a grown women in tears in the Blackburn End showed that there are people who have BRFC at heart, its a crying shame that some of the players do not give a flying flook about the plight that may become them as no matter what happens they will earn their fast bucks whichever league they play in. Rovers are heading for the biggest fall ever UNLESS the tides turns big style. Now then Chelsea away next...... Wheres Moses ??????? -
Paul Weller has a new album - Studio 150 - a stunning peice of cover music by the Modfather. It is simply a fantastic album, easy listening and a retro/repro production of some basic tunes. a pure classic
-
I would suggest immediately a case for Rippers but I have to agree although I did not see the great Douglas play for Rovers there is a history behind him and he truly is a legend for the Rovers. Cant decide.
-
looks like he played the 90 minutes okay in the game.

the old bloomfield road yes. But not the newly born one. That stadium will be a cracker when finished. My own view is that Gay Meadow is a hole, as is swansea's vetch field, chester's old sealand road, walsalls old stadium and darlingtons old ground, not to mention the racecourse, ninian park, boundary park of old, oh the lsit is endless been there and done it !

Has to be Faz consistently the best defender we ever had and a steadying rock at the rock.

top notch Ozz reminds me of our days in the French class with all those girlies and Olive for company ! 1-1 I am afraid, also going for a missed penalty for the Blues -
they havent started any pricing at all, they have simply been offered a £10m injection of capital from an outsid einvestor, there is nothing to link a £10m bid for Fergie and in any case if there was I am pretty sure Rovers would snap their hands off.

Lets be perfectly honest here, Villa deserved their point. Rovers had more than enough chances, more than enough effort and a little bit of luck along the way today. A draw is a good result against a team like Villa, and even more so when you think that they beat us here last year. Friedel - 6 - when is he ver going to come for a cross from a set piece ? IMO he could have made an effort at the cross that brought the equaliser. He had not a chance with the first one and pulled off a couple of saves. Gray - 6 - needed more support down the left, in particular the first half when Rovers were wide open down the right flank. Neill - 6 - steady, not pleasant but did what he had to do. Amoruso - 5 - far too many mistakes, clearly at fault for Villas opener. He would do far better if he concentrated on defending ONLY. Matteo - 6 - not too bad a performance. Emerton - 7 - great way to show he is one the way back. For those who havent seen it the goal was a beauty. Now seems to be free of the Sourness shackles. Ferguson - 8 - my man of the match. All over the place, most forward thinking of all Rovers players and deserved his goal. Should have had a second only for a good save by the keeper. Tugay - 4 - again we didnt realise that his mate was on the pitch. Gave 8 out of 10 balls to the opposition. Guilty of waste and should have scored when Stead laid him on with the goal beckoning. Djorkaeff - 7 - clearly going to be a hit. Seemed lost in the first 15 minutes but quickly got to grip. Rovers now have a link man who can play off the front 2. Jansen - 6 - up against it with 2 big defenders. Played well but needs a little more confidence with the ball. Dickov - 8 - gave him an 8 for sheer effort alone. worked tirelssly for the team. Deserved a goal. He may only be small but if 60 percent of the Rovers squad gave as much as he does then we would be looking at European football. subs Flitcroft - 6 - steady Stead - 6 - clearly has an anchor around his neck. it is hard to see where the young man is going to shed his bogey. He clearly has the talent he just needs a bit of luck. tactics - ?????? I just cannot understand why we left our left flank so wide open in the first half. Gray was stranded once he had come inside as he had no covering left midfielder. Rovers need to work on set peices BIG STYLE. They couldnt cope with the crosses constantly put in by Villas wide men. Overall - satisfied with a point as we keep the home run going. I dont feel as though we lost 2 points as we could easily have let this slip when they equalised. Rovers need to address the two central defenders, the keeper coming for crosses and the shackles of our future England number 9. Roll on Middlesboro ????? -

t4e FFS ? whats all that about then ? I think 40 bones is extortionate, I can afford it but on principle refuse to go due to that amount of cost, my son however is an apprentice and CANNOT afford 40 quid. I would suspect that 40 quid for the ticket is a struggle for the average guy to find for a ticket. As for the away travel ? well al I can say is that after many many years of travelling on Rovers coaches to away games from Chorley and Blackburn I got a little bored with the following: dodgy stewards who thought they were hitler and had authority to do whatever they chose. a lack of alcohol on the coach the same old boring videos, rocky i,ii, iii and the rest dodgy coach drivers poor quality seats, toilets and coffee machines arriving at grounds with less than 30 mins before kick off 1 stop policy etc etc etc need any more ? -

Man City fans have arranged to boycott stamford rip off ruski bridge due to the marked increase in prices, they also boycotted brum for a similar reason. This is where football fans need to stand together on this matter. At the very least Rovers should also charge the teams the very same price that our fans get charged for the opposite fixture. £40 is a massive amount of money for 90 minutes and its not as if they really need the dosh is it ? A father and son is £60 for tickets alone, trainfare £50 if you get a decent ticket, food and refreshments a further £20, £3.00 for a programme and thats a round figure of around £133.00 for a day out ! Boycott them NOW before it really gets out of hand -
[Archived] How Good Is Rooney?
1864roverite replied to philipl's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
There is NO doubt about it the lad is going to be a class act in the future and one that even the mighty manure cannot hold onto. Yes his goals were taken superbly, Yes he is a different player to Shearer, yes he scores great goals and Yes we now know that SHREK fathered a son Rooney will no doubt continue to produce the goods when he is in the team. How can you permutate VND Rooney Saha Scholes Smith Giggs Cloonaldo and Scholes ?? At some point 4 out of this lot are going to be seriously miffed about a lack of action and keeping them all happy is going to be one hell of a job. Another point is that continually chopping and changing may have dire consequences due to lack of continuity within the team, add the lack of harmony and it spells disaster (hopefully). If Rooney continues to score like last night then he is guaranteed a place alongside the horseman. If he continues then the really massive clubs will not be too far away. Not even manure can hold onto him once the likes of Barca or Real, AC, Juventus or Inter come knocking on the door. I just hope that come next Saturday he gives the taffs a good kicking and claims all 6 points available from the internationals. I do hope of course that he is injured for the Rovers game at the end of the season !! -
For my worth Colin Hendry is going to win hands down, a great talisman, good defender and converted goal scorer. I idolised Keeley at Ewood and knowing him quite well in Leyland were he ran a favourite hostelry he is a very down to earth person. Best memory of him is the infamous tackle on Len Fucillo when he cut him in half on the ice that was Ewood Park ! I am surprised that not may have gone for Faz or Graham Hawkins. Both were stalwarts in the good old days. One name that I think should be added is that of John Waddington. Not a delightful looking chap, not a particularly fast defender but one with grit, determination and effort. he would put his head where others feared and my best memory of him would be the winner at Burnden Park against the winkers a long long time ago - that is of course if your an OINK !
