  1. Second one for home and red away...look good to me.
  2. Mishit...fine line between genius and fluke a lot of the time...that was a fluke. Friedel would have had a better chance of saving it had he hit it cleanly.
  3. My dad is a lifelong united fan and he very rarely has any sympathy, but after he had watched the game in Paris and I'd watched it over here in Guildford this morning he told me on the phone that "there was no way you could have won that game with that ref"...says it all really.
  4. I don't think the Ferdinand handball was a penalty. However, if what Zurab did was a penatly then Ferdidnand's certainly was, that's my problem with it. Neither should have been given.
  5. Must add that Bentley impressed me, needed someone alongside him to help out though. Kuqi simply can't be effective without someone like Bellamy, if there's pace and movement around him then he can do a job, if he doesn't have that then he can't, simple as really. Also must say that Emerton really looked good when he came on. He was positive and ran at United, perhaps he should have been on earlier. Good to see.
  6. We really didn't create much, Friedel was in great form and saved us. Unlucky bounce for Gray for the first goal and Tugay should have passed the ball earlier for the second, but even so the boys did us proud. I didn't feel like we were outclassed and thought we could get back into it. Well done boys, unlucky in a way but we didn't deserve to go through. Now let's get on with climbing the league and I'll be hoping United stuff Wigan in the final.
  7. I'm just saying if the emphasis is on a British manager I think it is really an emphasis on an English manager. If they don't care about him being English then I don't think Hughes is the best man for the job, Hiddink is.
  8. Can you really see them appointing a Welshman?
  9. You know he's French right? I don't think you can have too much of a go at Arsenal for resting their players for the first leg and even to a certain extent they did in the second. Even though they are in the semi-finals this is the least important competition that they are in and it doesn't bring that many rewards for them if they win it. I know it's always good to win something but they would probably like to think they have a great chance of winning the FA Cup and a chance in Europe so it isn't as if it is all over for them after last night. They have a decent squad and the risk of injuries to key players at a key time in the season in a game that isn't that important was probably too much. The side they put out both last night and a fortnight ago would still have been good enough for most Premiership teams. Wigan played well, don't take that away from them by saying they were playing against a second string Arsenal, even if they were.
  10. Neekoy, there is a point where you have to look beyond history. Rooney hasn't achieved that much at international level, but then again, how much could he have done by now? He's only played in one tournament, in which he was probably the star of the show and was unfortunate to get injured. In qualification he hasn't done that much, but then again England didn't need to do that much in order to qualify. He's an electrifying talent and in my opinion has all the makings of the best player in the world (yes I think he'll be better than people like Ronaldinho because I think Rooney is more effective, puts in more effort and overall is more beneficial to the team without the 1000 step overs and balancing a ball on his shoulder for a minute). There is no way I'd pick a current Shearer over Rooney, there's no comparison. Would you pick the current Hurst over Rooney? He has achieved far more afterall. Young players by definition haven't achieved as much as their older counterparts, it isn't there fault that they are young. Now the point I made for why Walcott shouldn't go isn't based on the fact that he hasn't achieved anything, but more the fact that he hasn't even had much of a chance to show us that raw talent that is a must, I'm sure he has it, but you need more than a few games to show everyone what you can really do.
  11. That's why I'm not really sure exactly why a lot of the pundits I hear talking are making a big deal out of the away goal united have. Let's face it, if it goes to extra time and it is 0-0 we'll be putting in such an effort to score that a goal will go in at one of the ends, so it is very unlikely that they will win on the away goals rule, much more likely that we do after a 2-2 draw or something like that though.
  12. I wouldn't be surprised if Rooney drops back into the midfield as well.
  13. Well Wigan just knocked Arsenal out...so either way you're wrong!
  14. Hopefully we'll be playing Arsenal you mean.
  15. The noises coming out of OT say that money is available for one top class midfield signing in the transfer window and another again in the summer. I'm sure that problem will be sorted soon, luckily for us not in time for this game though.
  16. Isn't Vidic supposed to make his debut tomorrow?
  17. Watching this press conference I can't help but feel sorry for the man.
  18. It's a good idea, but it has certain downsides. Let's say we're going to play a game against Boro (are they cat B?), in itself it isn't an attractive prospect, but let's say because of results in the week or two leading up to the game the match becomes important then ticket sales a while before the game might not be good but potential sales just before could be.
  19. Ok. I change it to the media and everyone who makes any loud noises and the fact that the public do little to change it.
  20. Rooney didn't have much experience, but he played in a friendly, not a major tournament, it isn't the same thing. Walcott may well emerge at just the wrong time, but could be great for the post-world cup squad. 23 players isn't that big of a squad, a couple of injuries and you really don't want the wild card to be playing an important role in a world cup quaterfinal.
  21. England fans drive me up the wall. The only country I know that can regularly press the self destruct button. Genuine chance of winning the world cup (I personally think Brazil are over-rated simply because they are...Brazil). Yet, for some reason you all intend on having a go at key members of the squad at regular times and then also at the manager. Now you've set the side up for a few uncomfortable months, I hope everyone gets behind them at the right time, but I know that will only be followed by them having their heads being put on the chopping block.
  22. How many times have you seen walcott play? in live games I mean (including TV)...but not just highlight packages.
  23. Fair enough.
  24. I always thought he was considered the Beckham type of player to balance out the right side as Souey didn't think you could play with two wingers. I think Emerton has been hard done by and is actually a good player, for that amount he hasn't been that bad of a signing and I still think if he could just regularly produce the goods he'll turn into a good signing. He's certainly been more useful in recent times then he has previously.
