If Rovers want me to find them a manager better than Mowbray then I will. My fee will be reasonable and due diligence will be done on any recommendation.
-
So, if M'boro were poor, what does that say about us!?!?
-
To me, nearly every team we meet look sharper, faster and fitter. Always amuses me when Mowbray talks about bringing new players 'up to speed'. Chapman played for M'boro in Jan. but is deemed not yet fit to start for us! M'boro looked two yards quicker than us all over the park and far fitter.

"Lamb rogan josh with chips" - bloody hell Chaddy, chips with lamb rj, show a bit of class man! Anyhow, enjoy!!! You wanted Paul Hurst to replace Mowbray - wow, are you drunk?

I think Reed's performances have dipped recently. However, it's not surprising if he doesn't know where he will play from one match to another. To me, his best position is central midfield but he needs a wise old head next to him to help him develop. Not sure now that Reed is the long term answer to our central midfield problems. Think today Mowbray got it hopelessly wrong tactically. M'boro very strong in midfield and their five outnumbered, outthought and outfought our flimsy 3, 4 or 5 or whatever Mowbray had in mind. It was men against boys in midfield and why we were 'slaughtered' even though we lost by just the one goal.

Hopefully, we video our training sessions so they can be sent to every agent in Europe. Based on Tony's comments of BB smashing them in in training, I'll be looking for £70million and not just the £7million!

A nebulous argument.

Firstly, doubt these Sky pundits watch very much of Rovers. I think it's a myth about Mowbray's Rovers being a footballing team - for two years, IMO, our football has in the main been shite. All those slagging off Big Sam's style need to look in the mirror at themselves. That first half was as bad as anything under Kean or C o y l e. As a team, we don't look mentally or physically up for it. I think team selections are mystifying (too many square pegs in round holes), our tactics are baffling and our player trading, other than the odd player, is very poor. I have been saying for some time that, IMO, Mowbray has taken us as far as he can. I think we have so many gaping holes in the team and what we have seen today, and on several occasions this season (not least at Preston and Wigan), is the culmination of Mowbray's management. I think we are a poor to very average side. I would not trust Mowbray in the transfer market after the Brereton debacle. We need a new managerial team - full stop. Chaddy, I will be in the Shajan later. Let me know what time you will be there and if I'm about, I'll get you that pint! Enjoy your takeaway.

Caught up with the thread. Seen the team. Think our full backs will be targeted - would have gone with Nyambe (goodness knows how this lad must feel watching Bennett get roasted) and Bell (Williams one big accident waiting to happen every match). Glad Brereton playing but want him as either striker or one of two not all this wide cr@p nonsense. Think M'boro will physically intimidate him.
-
Touched by your concern! Look, it's simple - if Mowbray picks the right team (on merit and not his favourites or 'undroppables'), stops putting square pegs in round holes, is not overly cautious, gets his tactics right and lets the opposition worry about us for a change, then there is no reason we can't beat what is a relatively mediocre M'boro. Will he do this - who the hell knows. As I've said many times, betting on Rovers is a bit of fun and any winnings on Rovers (and there have been plenty) are a bonus. The serious stuff is left for sports trading where the real money is made! Enjoy the match.

Rovers to win today. On TV so I think we'll see a bit more determination and M'boro are no great shakes with the managerial powers of Pulis in decline. Having said that, I think we'll need 3 to win as I really feel we'll struggle aerially with their set pieces. Chapman has to be on the bench at least - how the feck can he be fit to play for M'boro in Jan and not be fit to play for us some 3 weeks after he signed. So gone for the Rovers win at 5/3 and chucked a tenner on 3-2 at 46/1.

Jim Smith took him to Derby as his number 2. Together they got Derby into the PL where they consolidated. By the way, Jim used to manage Rovers !!!

If you can't stand the heat then stay out of the kitchen. Get's paid more in a week than some on here will get in a year.
-
Think it's some 20 years ago before he became United's number two. Held some big managerial positions including England coach. Been on a downward spiral for last 10 years but in his early days was hungry and innovative (played a big part in success at Derby / United as a number 2). He's probably forgotten more than the collective footballing 'genius' (cough, cough) of Mowbray / Venus / Lowe have ever known.
-
I think you've hit the nail on the head. We need a manager who is hungry and innovative. Managers can get too comfortable and they do lose their edge, if they ever had one! Think another issue is the quality of staff Mowbray has. Have watched both Venus and Lowe closely on match day and feel underwhelmed - just can't see any spark. Also saw Lowe several times with the Academy lads and again felt underwhelmed. Have mentioned it before but think it's worth mentioning again - when United were at Ewood on one occasion, closely watched McClaren's pre match session with the United players, it was innovative and electric and you could see how fired up they were and how much of a buzz there was.

The words Alf Thornton used to write in the LT when it was quite obvious we'd signed another bad un! Butterworth should have been given his chance by now. I love a player with heart who will run through the proverbial brick wall if need be. You saw Mike Harrison, Parson - he had all the attributes. He would have been a world beater if he'd the heart of a Speedie. I really struggle with Brereton. I honestly don't know what the lad has going for him. What in your view are his attributes - physicality, aggression, pace, balance, control, movement off the ball, vision, passing ability, aerial ability, finishing ability ?
-
And if my aunt had b@lls she'd be my uncle!!! Strange you don't mention the two great chances Reading missed - it could have been 4-1!!! Are you honestly saying that Mowbray is a better manager than Big Sam!?!? Mowbray is not even as good as Bowyer who unearthed some real talent for Rovers. I think giving Mowbray a contract for another 3 or 4 years will prove a huge mistake. I think he is a manager rapidly approaching the end of his shelf life. In my opinion, he is overly cautious, tactically naive and poor and very indifferent where player trading is concerned. In my view, we have gone as far as we can with him and we will now regress pretty quickly.
-
We managed to at Preston and Wigan where we were absolutely abysmal.
-
History is we lost to a team in the bottom 3 to make it 3 losses on the bounce and I think we have conceded more away goals than any other team in the Championship. When Mowbray spends money, ie Brererton, he neglects crucial areas of the team that need strengthening. When he has money to spend, and he doesn't ie January, he claims it's difficult to improve on what we've got with available budgets. One could therefore conclude that either, we haven't got a pot to pi$$ in or that Mowbray is useless on recruitment if he cannot strengthen one of the worse defences in the Championship. Should you ever decide to meet me Chaddy at an away game instead of buying you a pint I'll get you a very strong coffee to smell as boy you really need one.
-
Read Mowbray's comments on the official site. To me they are mind numbingly trite - some will buy them but think many will scoff alarmingly.
-
I don't think there's any point in moving Mowbray upstairs - in my opinion, he is found wanting strategically and would offer next to nothing in terms of moving the club forward. To me, it really feels like Mowbray is reaching tipping point. M'boro at home followed by Brum away may well mean 5 defeats on the bounce.
-
Don't be ridiculous. What did he do of note? He missed one sitter in the 2nd half and put in an appalling cross just before being hooked. For £7million+ he should be our 'big' player producing 'big' moments like Oliveira. What Brereton did tonight can be seen in any league in UK right down to the National League and lower. I think what Brereton did tonight is akin to asking a window cleaner to climb a ladder!
-
Even though Rodwell backed off, Oliveira's goal was superb. It's what you expect your 'big' players to do. For £7million+, Brereton should be a 'big' player for us and produce moments of magic like Oliveira. Brereton produced one or two neat touches in the first half but feckin hell, he's a professional footballer!!! The sheer folly of his expensive signing is now plain for all to see - we have so many areas of the team that need improving (which we knew in the summer!). As I've said previously, if Mowbray couldn't improve our starting eleven in the Jan. window from the budgets available then it's time he was gone.
-
The thing that's wrong is Tony. He needs replacing.
-
That's what Brereton should be doing!
