  1. Absolute nonsense. Without supporters there would simply be no club. You ignore the supporters at your peril. When fans turn on a manager, he's toast. As for Mowbray's explanations, I personally find many of them to be baffling and contradictory. After Kean and C o y l e, I think supporters have cut Mowbray a lot of slack and, IMV, he's one lucky man who at most gets a 5 out of 10 from me. .
  2. Dack undoubtedly is 'the' acquisition of Mowbray's reign. I think Armstrong flatters to deceive - delivers in very small spurts and then disappears. Clearly has a nice turn of pace but, IMO, very little else, least of all a football brain. Smallwood a great League One signing but I think the lad is seriously out of his depth in Championship. Reed is a loan signing. Showed so much promise early doors but fading badly maybe, IMO, as a result of Mowbray's mismanagement who has played him here, there and everywhere. The lad is a central midfielder and where we need to see him consistently. Throw, IMO, the expensive calamitous Brereton signing into the mix (according to Mowbray signed on the basis of a performance against us for Forest when it seems Williams and Feeney were our left hand side!) and I think it represents poor player trading.
  3. Seem to recall Mowbray saying on Thursday night that there would be some games where the new hard bastard of a centre half would 'sit out for Lenihan and Mulgrew' on the basis of horses for courses. Could you imagine Shankly or Wenger saying to Ron Yeats / Tony Adams respectively 'this game isn't for you son' !
  4. You mean someone reading posts on here before the event!?
  5. and we got away with it because League One is pi$$ poor. I think even C o y l e would have got us up!
  6. Sounds like I need to go to the local more often! Spoke with a couple of friends on their way home and feeling was, despite one friend having the deepest of blue eyes, was that the result just papers over many of the cracks which are getting bigger by the game. Heard it was 2-2 in the pub and was just waiting for a Brum winner to go in. 2-1 up and we concede a late equaliser within a couple of minutes. Irrespective of Raya error or not, Mowbray picks the feckin team and if he will keep picking players who make errors then.....................................Unbelievable.
  7. Had enough of this misery. Only consolation is I backed Brum this morning and the winnings will come in very handy for tonight. Off to the local to wet my whistle.
  8. Some players almost 'go' or 'lose it' overnight. Very worrying signs with Mulgrew.
  9. Think Bowyer bottled it in the end with his cautiousness and tactics but he did make some very good signings (whoever was scouting with him <maybe his dad>) did a feckin good job. Bowyer's recruitment was head and shoulders ahead of Mowbray's.
  10. We all know football is a funny old game. Whilst it remains 1-0, anything can happen. If Brum get an early 2nd then this we could end up with a real spanking. A friend who is at the match and sees all matters Rovers through the bluest of eyes has texted to say even his 'I've had enough threshhold' has been broken this afternoon!
  11. What the feck do you expect from fans when our performances and results are bombing? Perhaps you think we should extend Mowbray's contract again in order to give him a confidence boost!?
  12. Interestingly enough, Mowbray spoke about strengthening both up front and at the back on Thursday night, however, I don't recall him mentioning midfield!
  13. And even the soldiers seem to have stopped fighting!
  14. Things will not get any better. The 'happy clappers' will trot out: Let's see what he does in the summer window Let's see where we are in Oct / Nov I think the writing is on the wall and, as far as I am concerned, has been for some considerable time. Mowbray failed to keep us up, brought us back but, IMO, we are now in sharp regression. Time to move on with a hungry and innovative new man.
  15. 25 goals conceded and just 10 goals scored. Equivalent to conceding almost 60 away goals in a full season - a damning statistic.
  16. But you expect every player to bust a gut. Anything less than 100% effort is completely unacceptable and, IMO, there have been a number of times this season when it seems a can't be arsed attitude has prevailed.
  17. Clearly you didn't see first half against M'boro or the abject surrender at Wigan to name but two.
  18. Very difficult to know which Rovers will turn up. IMV, we most at least have a better chance as Williams is out suspended! On balance, I think we'll get spanked. Think our players know the season's over and wont fancy it tomorrow against a physical Brum.
  19. Mowbray said last night Rothwell was going to start against M'boro but his partner went into labour on Saturday night.
  20. You asked me this question a number of days ago - please refer to my answer then.
  21. All managers lose games. However, what is more important is the manner in which the team loses. IMO, some of our performances have been abysmal (M'boro 1st half, Preston, Wigan readily spring to mind and there are others) and we did not remotely resemble a football team. I think some of our performances have been Keanesque / C o y l esque and that is a huge worry.
  22. When you are being benchmarked against Kean and C o y l e it's of no surprise that some feel comfortable and safe with Mowbray! I've described Mowbray as a 'steady Eddie' at best and based upon what I saw and heard last night, I haven't changed my mind. IMO, he's taken us as far as he can. Even Mowbray himself said last night he'd been brought in to save us from the drop, after inheriting some good players, and had failed - seems like he went to Pune after relegation half expecting the chop.
  23. Firstly, you have to question how much money was available - maybe diddly-squat. He did say he'd spoken to M'boro's CEO about a couple of players but inferred way out of range financially. Can't help think his 'master plan' is to trade Dack in summer for a handful of better players given the number of times he referred to this. Referred to Downing as his fifth choice central defender and how the lad 'deserved' some game time and therefore allowed him out of loan (think it was Downing who he referred to as a diamond of a lad). It did come across that he likes to build and maintain good relationships with his players - perhaps herein lies some of Mowbray's flaws, too sentimental and not ruthless enough.
  24. He did mention looking at Championship equivalents in Germany, France, Belgium and Holland. Thought he said Harvey and a couple of others were heading overseas at weekend. Yep, thought the Dack scenario, mentioned at least a couple of times as you say, was a 'positioning' statement, perhaps sowing the seeds! He'd have to go for me even at £15million.
  25. Think he said he'd met them on three occasions and spoke nice words about them as you would expect. No real feel as to whether they would 'splash the cash'. If I recall correctly, got the impression summer signings would not necessarily be household names but the players of tomorrow unless there's a big sale eg Dack; those were my interpretations.
