Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach

I wouldn't be surprised if where we are right now in the division is right on where we'd be in the first team wages table. Mostly in life or business you get more or less what you pay for. -

So essentially then, one addition to what we have already. You think that will make a difference? -

John Williams was always firmly of the view your finish in the table was roughly commensurate with the size of your wage bill in comparison to everyone else. I don't completely subscribe to that but by now our wage bill must be amongst the lowest in the Championship and that's exactly where we find ourselves. -

Most fees paid over the length of 3 or 4 year contracts meaning we've actually 'spent' far less and the rest will no doubt be covered by future sales. So the re-investment to date from the Wharton/Sammy sales etc is minimal. -

They won't be accurate and if they are anywhere near, whoever picked out Taveres for £2m needs sacking immediately. -

Fuck me......£12m of players out! -

Yep, you can nit pick until the cows come home as to whether the headline fees quoted either in or out are completely accurate. However the bottom line is that in summer we sold decent quality, and bought in lesser quality at a moderately negative net spend, and presumably a massive reduction in the wage bill. And find ourselves struggling badly. As 99% of supporters predicted would happen in advance. Quite surprising really. -

Probably come back sack a few long serving people then create a new role 'Head of Drains' for some agency brought in guy from a Polish 3rd tier club. -

So are did buy Gudjohnsen, Tavares, Morishita for around £2m each then add other signings..its around £10m. Original budget as £5m wasnt it? Yes we sold players for more but still committed to 10m Yes we are cost cutting in other areas as previously mentioned like in pitch, stadium repairs and up keep, basic and boring food and drinks served. -

We only needed to get through another 10 mins of the Ipswich game though. With covers or proper machinery, that game would have finished. -

Assume he's over there chucking other people under the bus. We know he'll be under absolutely no pressure from above, it'll never be his fault. -

I dont class Forshaw as a signing. Forshaw and Montgomery are Tronstad's back ups for me. -

It wasn't raining much during the game last night. That's why the pitch was fine. During the Ipswich game it rained incessantly through the first half and even heavier during the second. The pitch couldn't cope with that. Nothing to do with Lancs CC equipment IMO -

I agree, I think if everyone was available for selection, then we have a really decent XI and a much stronger bench than Ismael is currently having to work with. -

We did neither. We've been cost cutting like feck for the last few years, feel like you'd have noticed? -

Tbf most transfer fees are a reflection of the maximum possible commitment over a number of years if various add ons are met these days. Chaddy likes to crow about the fact we "spent" £10m in summer. We probably did, but he doesnt like it pointing out that in reality we had a negative net spend of around £2m after we selling £12m worth of players. -

feck me, it was very simple question and yet you won't answer. Maybe you think about your actions next time you throw your toys out of pram when complaining about others not answering questions, 3 or 4 new signings is realistic with 2 or 3 leaving, so centre back signing, right wing back signing, striker signing and long term Tronstad's replacement with players like Gueye and Pickering leaving. Neither starting or rated by Ismael too much -

10 Million spend?...you are having a laugh Chaddy. -
Yea he's probably touched the ball about 30 times but he could come good for us and ypur right looks big and strong in the air. Hopefully he can push on for us and turn out to be useful

There is no way they spent around 10 million pull your head out of the clouds i think the next accounts will tell a truer picture of around half that spent. Around 10 million in fees maybe committed over time including various add ons but not spent. -

Im not going to get drawn into alleged technical differences between central midfielders but if we needed a back up "number 6" or direct Tronstad replacement and don't have one perhaps we should have signed one? I wasn't even referring to Henriksson, we signed Forshaw, Tavares, Baradji and TGH in summer. -

I hope you are right but 5-7k is still a lot of people I see Bristol rovers play at the mem and they are now relegated yet still get 6k each game at home Tues sat. It’s a lot of people it’s astonishing that we have fallen so low but in reality for it to be noticeable 7k turning up doesn’t seem to raise an eyebrow with the media
