pretty sure you can have 3/4/5 (unsure on exact number) overage players Doherty just did more in his first minute than Mullarkey-Matthews did all game
-
Some shocking defending on display, though. Batty put in the softest challenge and Dale get time in the box to set up a point blank header. 3-2
-
I take it there's some age rules attached to this fixture? Would have been a good game to get De Neve and Gueye minutes - assume you literally have to be U21?
-
Litherland looks very, very good breaking from defence. Chris Smalling comes to mind
-
Despite signing 10,only 3 new players started on Saturday. Obviously injuries and suspensions will be a factor, but it will be interesting going forward to see how that changes. It will maybe be a good indication of just how successful the window was. I'm more intrigued than anything, beyond Dolan and Britain, can't say I'm too fussed about the ones who've left.
-
Think they'll be taking Tyjon off shortly, he looks injured.
-
I do wonder how Mullarkey-Matthews found himself anywhere near the first team squad in pre season, even given our lack of wide players at the time, Doherty (who is currently on the bench) has much more about him Purely because he is a big lad for a wide player and quite physical?
-
Hopefully Joseph gets off the bench to play that role alongside him in the 2nd half
-
He's not a 9. Or at least not without a big strong partner to look after him and win the long balls for him.
-
He easily ran in behind getting on the end of a long ball before. Didn't know what to do with the ball though and tamely passed it back to the GK.
-
I'm not one for being harsh on players, particular young lads, but I'm beginning to wonder what the hype is about Tyjon. Really haven't seen anything yet that makes me think "wow" . Probably go on to get a hat trick now , but have to say I think he's a long way off first team football. A loan may do him good. Like young Funny, got a nice left foot but you do worry about him physically as well, needs to bulk up a bit.
-
Well aware of the point you made, the point I made in response to it suggested it may be the role he was being asked to play He did pick up a couple of injuries on his loan last season, so possible that has impacted himt. But until he is forced into chasing the ball or a man at full pelt, we won't know for sure either way.
-
The point I was making is that Battys major asset was his speed, has his speed gone or are we just not using it ?
- Today
-
It is possible he is being asked to play the Ribeiro role, The formation & player roles look to be mirroring the first team, with the right back pushing forward more
-
Batty doesn't look interested in the game. He used to have a hell of a turn of speed, but isn't showing anything.
-
The assist for Rovers equaliser was glorious, finish not bad either

Former Rover McBride opens the scoring

Said it myself and I think most at times have said it's time to 'cut the hedges'.... (enter tumbleweed / exit tumbleweed) But he has proven himself of late and deserves a spot. -
Looks to be a strong selection.

My view is play both Gudjonsen and Ohashi. With Alebiouso overlapping all day Ohashi can do that role on the right which will utilise his ceaseless pressing off the ball and he will get in the box when we're on the front foot. Think it will suit him more actually than being the lone man up front. Means you have Gueye as the change striker but Im okay with that.
