  2. No, I just added that bit for completeness.
  3. He’s from Brum and was at West Brom until last year. I doubt location will be a major factor if he was prepared to move to Barnsley.
  4. Although......do they pay tax over here if they only make massive losses?
  5. I hadn’t even seen their comments, I was too busy burying my head in legal documents in response to your question 😀😄.
  6. Don't let facts get in the way of Masher's contrarian agenda will you?
  7. Residents of India pay tax on overseas income which seems to be why the law allows them to offset overseas losses too. There is a double taxation treaty between the UK and India which means they can deduct UK tax paid from the Indian tax they owe. I can’t see anything in this treaty which alters the Indian law in regard to offsetting losses.
  8. They knew the league, the club and weren't sold a dream byt certain mysterious figures. Everyone gave 100% and played for the badge. They weren't cheap overseas imports who need to adapt to both a new way of life but also club and league. This season we had 3/4 new overseas players all who will have to change their whole lives while playing in the toughest league in the world. Recipe for disaster.
  9. I’ve taken a look at the relevant Indian tax law (I must get a better hobby 😄😄) and it would appear foreign losses can be offset against domestic profits.
  10. I think we are lucky in the fact that Sheffield Wednesday are in the league. As only 2 teams fighting for the play offs makes it a touch easier. however on paper we are the worst team in the league at the moment.
  11. I'm not that far from you in that, but he would be a considerable loss in terms of quality, and one I can see them being receptive to.
  12. What I will add is that even once an arrangement is made - the initial fee will likely be a few £100K at most, with the lions share being based on future appearances, his part (if any) in Newcastle's successes, International appearances, sell on % etc - Rovers will probably never announce it anyway
  13. The contrarian rides again 🤔
  14. So true. Just thinking, what will be the monumental f*ck up this time?! Forgetting that deadline day is 2nd Feb or thinking it's midnight, signing a player with the same name, signing a woman, putting Blackburn Athletic on the form, paying in the wrong currency?! Anything goes at Rovers in the last week of a window..
  15. as per the previous post, no settlement had been agreed as of early November (according to Nixon).
  16. For what as happened, at this club in the last week of the transfer window in recent years ! Literally anything is possible !
  17. I'd have no view on it at all because whatever the tax laws of the Country might be at any particular point is completely out of my control.
  18. Raya another, I'm sure there are more. Phillips?
  19. Surely to God they won't register Hedges either?
  20. I know others disagree, but I dont think he's worth THAT much. Personally I wouldn't go beyond £2m for him and that's an absolute stretch. I think the Club would be keener to offload Pears if only because he's probably on the higher wage of the two.
  21. It's the case, I'm afraid. If you were an Indian taxpayer how would you feel about effectively subsidising part of the wages of UK based footballers ?
  22. In the absence of the Club providing confirmation of the position it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that there has been no settlement?
  23. I find it hard to believe that a Company can not off set losses from an overseas division against profits at home as long as it's all part of the same group of Companies but I'll bow to the knowledge of someone who knows more about it like Herbie or Wilesden.

  26. VLL owns the club in England but itself is owned and funded by the VH group in India. Therefore the funding of that venture is withing the VH group accounts as expenses to keep it afloat. So that money will be minus from the profits or income of the VH group so obviously it'll have an effect on the tax side of things over there. Regardless of it being in England and the clubs losses tend to be more or less in line with VLL. So not too different to the North End set up i assume in terms of group accounting. Jack used his Rosedale Investments (?) to fund the club i think and that was registered in Jersey. I'm sure funding the club helped shave a bit off his tax bill within that investment vehicle if it was making money elsewhere.
