  1. Past hour
  2. Tell you what, it takes a brave manager to drop Jess Carter after these racism allegations - even if she has been an absolute liability this tournament.
  3. You almost had me. I thought you were serious. Then you mentioned you’d be excited by a signing…. Nearly
  4. 24 appearances is half a season so that’s enough to call a player the best left back the club has had in 15/20 years? Not for me not even close he picked up one significant hamstring injury 3 games suspension for that Preston tramp and missed the start as was a late signing he’s not a sick note (yet) but has had a bad hamstring injury which with players like him could easily flare up again
  5. You keep saying "how little he played". According to Wikipedia he made 24 appearances for us last season. Was that that bad? My own recollection was that he picked up a couple of injuries but it's not like he was a sick note.
  6. "probably"---you're just guessing aren't you? Our history of contract problems tells us something different is more likely.
  7. Could well be cheaper could be a lot of things . But the main point Iv argued is calling beck our best left back in 15/20 years. To me that’s crazy given how little he played
  8. Only his mum would think he’s a better player than Beck.
  9. Somehow I don't think Derby will be facing a struggle against relegation this season. They will be significantly bettter than last season. Will we?
  10. I dont think he's a patch on Beck but it's a game of opinions. We've had worse and I assume we signed him because he was a lot cheaper.
  11. Yes I believe we have and it’s nothing to do wit the kids talent but player injuries and availability has to come into play when putting across such an argument I also disagree with the later part too what has Ribiero done wrong? Fantastic pick up we can only judge on playing for rovers not on potential and what you might think of him as a player again if we went and asked say a Kevin Gallagher or a David Dunn for talk sake in the last 15 years who’s been rovers best left back I’d be very surprised if either mentioned beck because he played so little
  12. Significantly weaker is a HUGE over statement. Ribeiro definitely holds his own at LB and some will say is better than Beck...Certainly has more experience.
  13. Can’t agree on that one Burrows styles firpo tymon bryon Callum Doyle all had better seasons Was it because they played full seasons likely but a player can only be judged on games and availability
  14. Have we had anyone better than him at LB since Venky's took over? Either way, his departure has made us significantly weaker in that position and I assume he will make Derby significantly stronger.
  15. No im not Iv stated beck is quality I’m taking issue saying he’s been the best left back we have had in decades. keep up
  16. Good luck with the job hunt.
  17. Beck's absolute top quality. You're being contrary on this point.
  18. Fitness permitting, Beck is an excellent signing for Derby. Didnt see many left backs better than him in the league, good both defensively and going forward. There is a big snobbery towards a manager signing players he has previously worked with nowadays, its seen as prehistoric. Its all about signing based on data, plucking out players from obscurity. All of the benefits remain though. You know the player is good at the level, you know his character which data cant measure, they can settle in quickly, they can set standards. All 3 did well for us and make us weaker and Derby stronger.
  19. He was probably the best left back in the country last year so its an incredibly high benchmark.
  20. I think he would have gone on to a Premier league team but for that injury. Now Premier League teams will be holding back to see if he’s over it.
  21. Exactly. Its not negative to prepare for a scenario whereby we dont know how Tyjon will adapt. Equally, if we sign someone but Tyjon hits the ground running, the chance is still there for him to really establish himself and play more ahead of other options. There are many variables: - we dont know if his ability is Championship standard yet - is he over his injury problems? - is his body capable? - will he be able to play regular minutes across 46 games without occasional spells out of it? - can he cope with the pressure of being one injury to Cantwell away from playing week in week out? We could be in a bad spell, we could be playing high pressure games etc Hopefully he can do it all but we cant possibly know and it isnt negative to say that.
